Lodged between two rocks was a shiny amethyst chrysalis. The creature inside had long opened it's eyes and was well aware of it's awkward position inside the rock; it's back had arched awkwardly and it's over sized feet were almost touching it's ears. Abruptly, the creature inside the chrysalis began to shove against the walls of the amethyst stone. It took a moment, perhaps a few minutes, but eventually a crack formed upon the walls of the chrysalis. Light leaked into the stone prison, and the child within had to blink blearily to the white light. It continued to push; until the chrysalis began to give way and the lilac walls fell around them. The kangaroo fell out, gasping for breath and covered in a warm-smelling fluid. They shifted. They whined. They began to roll and flail around in the dirt until not only were they dry, but they were absolutely filthy. They lay limp on the cave floor with dust in their eyes and still panting for breath. |
