Dew glazed the ceiling roof of a tunnel exit. One droplet of the dew travelled down the wall, where a tiny alcove lay. In the alcove was a red panda, lonesome in his slumber. The droplet of dew let go of its grip on the wall and hit the small sleeping panda right on his nose, much to his displeasure.

Kimen woke up. The wetness of his nose was bothersome but unimportant. What bothered him most was that his companion, Eira, was not at his side. For the first time since he hatched from his crystalis, Kimen was alone. He started worrying, had she been stolen from him? Would she be back? He had a thousand questions panicking him and he couldn't wait around for answers.

He began raising his body off of the floor, this was always a taxing process for him. He managed to push himself up with relative ease at first, but just as he was standing... click... The bone in his shoulder where his gem was imbued had clicked in place, becoming stiff and immovable. He hit the floor, collapsing as his stiff foot couldn't handle the weight he put on it. He sighed, clearly annoyed.
Part of him knew this would happen, he had walked down the tunnel without much difficulty after all, but it still annoyed him greatly.
Last time this happened Eira was there to help him stand. This time there was no one around for miles, he supposed. He knew that his struggle was lonely and that he'd have to find a solution by himself.

But for now he was alone and immobile, his biggest fear ever since he hatched, with no idea how to get himself out of this difficult situation. Perhaps his deity would save him? She named him, she spoke to him and she was the one who was going to fix his shoulder, surely she could help him now.

He waited to see if his deity would come to him, just as she had before, but his impatience allowed waiting no longer. He was annoyed now. His deity really did pick her times. Annoyed, he quickly decided to try standing again, finding the determination that had fuelled most of the actions in his life. It was his last scrap of determination, built off of his promise to himself to never give up like he did when he first hatched. The thought of giving up was pathetic to him. It left a bad taste in his mouth every time he remembered his past failings.

He rose, putting more pressure on his hind legs and using his good front paw only for balance. He put no pressure on his clubfoot. It took a couple of attempts but eventually he was sitting on his hind legs and could shuffle about a little from there.

He climbered out of the alcove and noticed that he was sleeping right next to the cave exit. He wandered for a little, stumbling and tripping occasionally. Eventually he was well within the mysterious new place and decided to shout for his companion.
"EIRA!" He shouted, the first time he had raised his voice in his life.

Safe. His Sister was safe. That was all that mattered, now. The bones that felt fractured, the flesh wrapped in purple and green bruises - none of that mattered, because he had done it. The cost was well worth the prize of knowing she was safe, away from here. Now he just needed to get back in the angels' good graces, and then he could... could... well. He didn't know what he would do, now. He owed a debt to the white stag and the little brown messenger, one that could only be repaid with equal effort. The gelding took to patrolling the outskirts of Orion, ready to defend it from intruding demons, always feeling as if they were lying in wait to snatch the children away.

Somewhere, he hoped, the golden angel that kept his unbroken soul was safe.

He stuck to the edges of the cavern, picking up speed slowly but surely, something cool and comforting letting the wind trail after him faster than it ever had, until he was racing without panting out strained breaths. The shadows; it had to be, and his gemstone left splatters of unused darkness in his wake. He checked and rechecked every exit, obsessive, and then crept closer to the center, eyeing the throne with a wincing gaze. That was when he saw it - something shimmering and small. Silver eyes locked on, and he sped towards it, nostrils flaring more with aggravation then exertion, skidding to a harsh stop only a foot away.

It was... something. A small something, with shards in its shoulder. The horse whinnied - a warning to... flee, move, leave.

Whatever it was, it was not an angel.

@Kimen

--"Speech"--
--Thoughts--

No response came from his shouting. No matter how much he persisted, it seemed that she was not coming back to him. After standing on the spot on two legs for a while, his stance began to strain his back and tire him so he decided to lie down. He might have been harder to see this way but the area around him was rather open so five minutes rest wouldn't cost him, at least that's what he thought.

Part of him wished that he didn't need to find Eira but the other part of him knew that he'd get nowhere without her. He'd always feel as lonely as he felt now and every day would be just as much of a struggle as the last. As annoying as she could be, Eira made his difficult, though short, life better just by being there. She was like his sister.

His grievance at being alone was soon disturbed as he heard thunderous pounds pacing against the floor. The noise was coming from quite a distance away but it grew closer and closer. Whatever made the noise must have been gigantic, compared to himself at least. If Eira was here she'd say it was a demon, probably. He thought, laughing nervously to himself as he wasn't entirely sure what the cause of the noise was.

Whatever it was, it wanted to make itself known as it made a noise that Kimen was completely unfamiliar with. He wasn't sure what this new noise was but it discomforted him greatly. He decided he had had enough rest and so he quickly tried to get up before the source of the terrifying noise began its charge again...

...Click...

Just as he was taking his first step on all fours, the shoulder bone in which his gem was imbued had clicked once more. A rush of pain hit the immobile red panda and he cursed in fear of the being watching him. He had to move and move quickly though in his current situation that was an impossibility. In desperation he shouted once more, "EIRA!"
