Water slowly swished against a shoreline in a therapeutic rhythm. The water was clear as crystal but was rather cold to the touch. Its origin was in the ceiling of the vast cave, water fell from a crescent shape that looked all too accurately cut to be natural.
A little above the margin between land and sea, a large gemstone of Smoky Quartz lay dormant for quite some time until...

...Crack

A large gap opened straight through the middle of the quartz as if it was an egg about to hatch. What this egg held was uncertain but it seemed largely unnatural.

Squeaks could be heard from within the gem, a creature looking for a means of escape. However, it seemed that this early in the little things life, no escape could be found. It lay in its chrystalis waiting patiently for the crack to open some more, eager to start its life and learn about the world.
White wasn't sure if she was a fan of Pisces. She preferred the spire; it was warm and.. bright. And well, here the hybrid felt weird. Her feathers still clung to her skin, showing the bright pink skin under the white feathers.

She had been considering going home to Polaris; when scratching and squeaking caught her ear. The hybrid turned her head to the chrysalis. Another one? How many babies were these people expecting?

Carefully, the hybrid approached the chrysalis, pressing her nose against it for a moment. With a lick to her jowls she began to carefully paw at the gap in the chrysalis. She paused before she started to attempt to tug at the rock; even leaning in to bite slightly at the quartz.

It hurt, somewhat, so she stopped biting - but she was quite positive that she was getting somewhere with helping out the new gembound.

@Fate
It seemed that its waiting had paid off as help shortly arrived. The soon-to-be-born creature did not know what was trying to help, but it appreciated the notion anyway. The helper had opened the crack up a slight bit more and the creature than lay inside saw this as an opportunity.
Using all its might it pushed at the crack with its back. It wasn't what it was, or what the world outside her chrysalis even looked like but she hoped to find out, using that hope to push even more.

Eventually more fractures formed around the large central crack and the chrysalis broke open, freeing a young maned wolf pup. Falling onto her back, the pup turned over quickly and gleefully jumped to the nearest deposit of water curious as to what the glittering blue substance was.

She batted at it with a paw and it made a ripple across the surface. Her paw was now wet too which uncomforted her slightly. The ripple in the water subsided and revealed face that had jet black fur, except in its ears where their fur was white, and a diamond shaped gem between their jet black eyes.

In her excitement she unintentionally ignored her kind helper. Perhaps they held some answers as to what the creature in the water was. She turned and looked at her helper with an expression of confusion and bewilderment.
