ORIGIN - Awakening

The light in the cavern was dim, and the amethyst chrysalis shattered.
From it approached a tiny figure; no doubt a wolf pup, and she watched wide-eyed as she took her first breath.
She was alone.
'Hello?' she cried.
No-one.
'I will one day have the world to myself!' grinned the pup, gluttony settling in her heart. 'All to myself!' the greed was overwhelming to her. 'I'll have the whole Galaxy! And that's what I'll call myself! Galaxy.' Pride flooded through her at the name.
But deep down young Galaxy was full of chastity and humility, and she had a sense of this. For some reason, something was urging her to change her plans, to help the world around her instead of rule it. But she shook off this feeling.
'NO!' Galaxy yowled. 'I don't know.'
She tried her best to push away the gluttony, as she knew it was what she had to do. She tried her hardest, trying to forget her feeling.

Perched upon the rooftop of a ruins of once might have been a habitable building, there was the blind dragon. Gemstone eyes stared into the distance, perhaps reveling in the silence for a while as she stuck a green, dimly glowing tongue out to lick her jowls.

For a moment, she was content. Then a crack sounded out through Orion. The dragon turned her head; she was big, but still young. She'd get bigger. Of course, however, she couldn't see the pup as she spoke, but Lichen could taste the very scent.

That, however, wasn't enough for her.

As she concentrated however, there came nothing. She could not feel the heartbeat of the wolf pup and she could not sense the bacteria that was no doubt crawling around her limbs by now; but it didn't matter. Lichen had become accustomed to using a heightened sense of smell instead of faux eyesight.

Slowly, the florescent dragon lifted herself to her claws and stepped around on the rooftop. Whiskers jerked and shifted before she lowered herself down once more; facing the pup head-on. She didn't know what a galaxy was, but that didn't particularly matter.

"You seem conflicted," she said, with a faint tone of humor.

Young Galaxy could only stare. Her mind racing, she watched the great beast, awestruck.
So there was more to this world than her!
She tried to be polite.
'Hello,' she said. She gulped.
This dragon was scary, the scariest thing she had ever seen, staring at it made her shiver.
What was this?
How could such a thing exist?
'W-what are you?' she stammered, blinking. Her tongue lolled out and she laughed. 'Sorry! I just want to know what creature you are! I, um, was born with the instinct not to ask awkward questions... oh well!' she giggled happily.

@Lichen

Lichen was silent for a moment. She had wondered briefly if the wolf meant 'who' and not 'what,' but alas, she elaborated. The dragon herself had no idea what her new-found conversational partner was, nevermind herself, but the thought was quickly dismissed.

"I don't know," she said fairly calmly. "I just am." It didn't bother Lichen at all of course - she knew she was different. For one, she couldn't see.

And she'd rather fix that, at least to the best of her ability. She could only assume, with her being on the roof and all, that she was fairly far away from the pup. She concentrated once more; this time her gemstone eyes began to glow faintly.

She paused. She could sense every microbe crawling on her, under her, and around the building she lay on. She could sense the 90-degree drop in front of her and as she got up to her claws once more, she could sense the wolf below the building.

Carefully, the dragon climbed down, talons scraping awkwardly as they tried to find their ground. Eventually however, she sat down in front of the wolf. She could sense the other buildings near by; the shattered chrysalis, even the rat crawling around somewhere behind her.

"I am Lichen," she abruptly said as she settled herself down, tail curling slightly. The dragon's blank eyes stared down, not at the pup, but rather through them. "I... exist. Who are you?"

@Galaxy

'What...?' Galaxy watched Lichen, her eyes darting from the dragon to the wall. 'I'm, well, Galaxy...' she bit her lip. 'I named myself Galaxy in case I would one day travel the galaxy... Now, I've, um, come to regret it, being about, um, two hours older.'
She hadn't come to regret it, not yet. She still felt the pang of greed, and didn't at all mind lying to Lichen. Yet she would grow mature one day, of that she was sure.
'I, um, was born from an, um, amethyst,' the young wolf continued, blinking. 'And I don't, um, know anyone other than you...'
She flicked her tail in embarrassment and closed her eyes for a moment before opening them again. Her energetic feelings returned.
'So yeah! It's great to meet you, Lichen! What brings you around here?' She tried her best to speak slowly.

Lichen didn't know what a galaxy was, or an hour, or an amethyst, but she went with it. "I see," she said without a single hint of irony. "I live here."

The dragon's feathered crest flickered briefly as she thought to herself quietly. "Well," she said. "Don't let me stop you with your... things."

She turned and began to crawl back up the building with significantly less difficulty than clambering down it; circling her 'territory' for a moment before she lay down on the rooftop. With her face still angled towards Galaxy, she 'watched' the best a blind creature could do.

Galaxy blinked, her heart thumping in her chest rapidly. This dragon was strange, at least she expected it was a dragon. Her big, curious eyes flickered from herself to the towering giant, and she giggled nervously.
'So, um, how did you come to live here?' she yapped. 'It's obvious how I did: I was born here about two hours ago.' She flicked her tail and steadied herself briskly, before blushing a pretty scarlet. The undergrowth around the pup was dense and lush. She stared up at the dragon, expecting a reply.
