ORIGIN - centerfold

Entrance into the world proper - an ambition, a goal, one unrealized until the mind fully formed and realized itself. Self-awareness came first; then sensation; the thought and the recognition that the current environment was too small. The world was too small, limited to darkness and the hard gem encasing that had protected them until now, when it had become a hindrance.

But the world would be a buffet for their mind to devour, active mind seeking more and more, a glutton for the knowledge that would show itself and and be hidden from their sight equally. Ah, but the important things came first, always - first they must escape the coffin that they had been born into.

Legs bent back to brace upon the inside of the gem, cool and slick; braced, and pushed. But pushed weight did nothing, nor did sharp beak's attacks. A task unaccomplishable by a mere one-self. They cawed, irritated, a wordless sound that echoed sharply in the gem-egg.

Speaking.

Destiny was waddling through Polaris, her senses tingling and her throat slightly parched. She knew there was water here, somewhere, because she could hear it. Trouble was, she didn't quite know where. So she was wandering.

She'd waddled away from Pisces And had since gotten slightly lost. She kept longing for the cool feel of water around her pelt and the fresh feeling of it running down her throat.

Ugh, there she was, thinking about it again. The little platypus shook her head, looking around again to no avail. I gotta ask someone, she thought with a small sigh. She searched around again with sight and focused on her rather poor hearing, struggling to find something here, anything or anyone. And then she heard it; a distant sound. A little thudding that she assumed were footsteps, without quite realizing the intent of the magic she'd cast.

Without hesitation she bounded towards the sound before slowing to a waddle but found herself coming upon a stone. After closer investigation she realized the sound was coming from inside. She came close and pushed her bill delicately against it.

"Why, hello there! What are you doing in there?"

Victor walked through the cave slowly, his tail swished and his quills swayed as he walked along the cave. He hadn't met many friends yet, he needed to find some others, meet people and actually get to know somebody. His ears perked as he heard somebody speak for a moment. Maybe this was a good time to make a new friend. He smiled and walked towards the sound to see that a gembound was about to be born. He looked towards the other person with a small smile.

"Well it looks like somebody is about to be born. We should help."

He smiled and then walked closer slowly but made sure he was on the opposite side from Destiny so he didn't stab him. With that his quills opened wide. He then attempted to poke and break the 'egg' with his quills hoping to help this new gembound hatch.
