Based on an idea brought up by Fira! So thank you! <3
So, we all know of the Pokemon Nuzlocke challenge and other player-made hard modes for games in which if the player dies, they reset their game. And it came to our realization that with the interactivity and gameplay-focused side of Origin, such a thing would be entirely possible. So after a lot of discussion with Zaz, I decided to make an OOC group/plotter for it to gather thoughts and opinions, and gauge interest!
Update:
An idea for survivalist characters by Fira!
For characters wanting to get involved, I've made a small graphic that anyone is free to display somewhere in their profile to display their involvement with the group. As modeled by
The Basics
Death is Death would be mainly an OOC group with each character involved displaying a notice in their signature or on their profile to avoid confusion.
-When in fights, the character can roll once to avoid attacks. If they fail they're wounded to the extent the foe intended, and if in the case of deadly attacks or events, they get one extra roll to determine whether or not they survive.
However, this can be influenced by species and strength (eg. a domestic cat wouldn't be immediately able to karate chop an elephant to death). So with smaller or weaker characters, it may be necessary to level up their skills and creativity is encouraged. Which leads us to the next idea...
-Each (or most) of the characters would have a serious rivalry with one another and would make it their goal to sabotage the other characters involved, like a giant game of cat and mouse. This would mean smaller and weaker characters would have to use some serious creativity. For example, they may band together and focus on survival rather than sabotage, creating groups within the group or even manipulating non-group characters as mercenaries.
-In dire situations, characters can also roll to escape and exit the thread, although doing so will forfeit the battle. Rolling a barely successful will cause a delay and the character will exit in their next post.
-Interaction with characters outside of the group, creating open threads and taking risks is highly encouraged to keep things interesting. In short, it's basically just like playing an ordinary character, but with added danger to keep the heart pumping every step of the way.
-Any and all characters are welcome, however be a little considerate. Don't take your 10 cycle old rhino and stomp on a chicken in their hatching thread. Give it some development and pick on people your own size to an extent, as I'd like to think that some people(if not all) will be creating new characters for the purpose of this idea(I know I will be!) Though with that in mind, characters don't have to enter straight from birth if the player feels they need some preparation.
As normal though, all the basic forum rules apply. No godmodding, no powerplaying and remember that even though this is a challenge, the deaths of characters are determined by the player and the player alone.
And finally, let's have fun and not create any drama. What happens IC stays IC.
