The howling winds gently tugged at his fur. It seemed they were only breezes, today, but they still sent chills right through him. Wait... chills? He could feel it. He could also feel the aches in his muscles and bones. Every breath he took felt like a strain. Pain ran through his muscles and bones each in turn. But something felt... off...
It wasn't just the pain in his skull or the lump there as he raised his paw to try and smudge away the pain, only for it to come away sticky and red.
It wasn't the strange... thing he felt lying heavy on his back.
Inside, he felt like there was nothing there. Odd feelings swirled, and he couldn't figure out why. As he opened his eyes and slowly looked around all he felt was dizziness, and pain. Emptiness. The pain was the only thing wrong, in his mind. He couldn't remember anything. Blissful ignorance. Some things tried to well to the surface, but the more he thought, the more he hurt.
He shook his head in an effort to try and get rid of it, but doing so only brought it back.
"Ough... he groaned deeply, slowly sat up. He'd heard his own voice, and a shaky smile began to make his way over his face. Familiar feeling... But then the smile drained, happiness gone like water down a plughole. He trembled, looking around, yet lacking the knowledge to call out, to see if anyone would come to save him.
