Xin had been in Canis for a while. To be honest, he was starting to get a bit sick of it. Sure, he could prance around with the bones, but that could only entertain the small marten for so long. Bones, while fun, got boring after a while. He wondered if anyone was nearby.
Well, part of him wondered that, anyway. Another part of him hoped there wasn't anyone nearby. "Communicating" with other gembounds was exhausting. Most of the time, he couldn't even really...do much. Except for play. Playing he could do. ...Or running. He could do that too. But talking? Communicating? He was mute! He most certainly couldn't do that, much to his disappointment. He would like to talk, love it even! But he couldn't. It still hurt, he had to admit, knowing that most other gembounds could communicate properly while he couldn't.
He lay down and began to think about the other gembounds he had seen. They had all, aside from one, been able to talk. It was interesting to hear their voices. Each gembound had a unique voice, a voice all their own. And what did Xin have? Nothing! He was mute. He had no voice. And he never would. His eyes narrowed. Never. He would never have a voice of his own. He would live to be however old, and never have a voice. The thought, which had made him sad at first, now only filled him with anger. Never! He'd never be able to talk, never be able to share his thoughts with others!
Xin bared his teeth in anger. Tears had started to drip down his cheeks and onto the floor below. He wanted to scream, to let his frustrations out, but he couldn't! He couldn't scream, he couldn't laugh, he couldn't make any sound! And it made him angry to no end. Angry and sad. Sad and angry. The two worked together so nicely. He could be sad and angry at the same time. Tears continued to fall down, and oh how he wanted to scream, to properly cry, to make noises when he cried! But he couldn't!
Poor Xin baby
