Kin-Kin
It is resolve that determines the value of your life.

Kin-Kin had ventured one last time through the streets of Orion's city, the place where she was born. Now on the cusp of adulthood, the she-wolf coming upon the remains of her shattered chrysalis had brought a nostalgic smirk to her features. She saw the scattered quartz crystals which once had served as mirrors to gaze upon her own beauty. She saw the labyrinthine streets where she'd gotten lost countless times, and simply moved through them.

And yet... this place wasn't all as she remembered it. These streets reeked of blood old and new. She came upon the wreckage of a battle once. She knew from their scents that those who fought had been gembound like herself, for the blood coating the ground was very nearly fresh. But as much as she crept, lingering over, she did not see any of the warriors.

Maybe that was a good thing; she didn't want to be ripped to shreds herself. Maybe it was nothing more than a cold-blooded murder, but still. She could learn a thing or two from someone who fought like that.

Kin-Kin soon after left the city behind. At this point, she'd climbed up, and up, and up beyond those walls.
Before she left this place behind, she wished to see this domain in its entirety. She liked to think of it as her domain, as a matter of fact. But her thoughts were left unsaid as the wolf gazed out over the wreckage that she'd once called home.

"Listen to me."

Orion was known as the star-room for a fair reason: the silvery quartz crystals that littered the ceiling were beautiful, but Eve never really knew what a star was. What it was to her, however, was shiny. That meant it was important.

What made Orion twice as important however was the fact that Eve had been born here many cycles ago: she had a horrible memory now, but she could remember the sound of scratching talons and other avians that had greeted her into the caves, one had even fed her. Bevy. She didn't know Bevy well, but from what she had heard, the bird was dead.

It didn't bother her as much as it did others; she had spent the last three cycles trying to settle into Pisces, too nervous to make contact with gembounds who were grieving the loss of their leader and friend. She had already gathered the idea that they wouldn't welcome her, and she only really knew one other gembound there to begin with.

Pisces was unpleasant: not as unpleasant as Cetus, but at least she could make a nest in Cetus. She had an issue with this in Pisces. She had decided to fly back to Orion at least for a while, just to visit, but also to find the remains of the chrysalis that she had hatched from.

For science, of course.

As the crow fluttered across the ruins of what may have once been a grand city, she began to concentrate. The moonstone talon of hers began to glint softly and, soon enough, there was a bright glow, yellow-white light forming and swirling until it formed a bright orb, just in front of her eyes.

She stared blindly at it for a moment, before looking down. The orb followed her gaze, shifting from here to there quickly. It grazed over rooftops, searching and illuminating the darkness, but the crow did not find what she was looking for.

What did she find was something odd: golden fur and purple cloth. The orb grazed over it, before lingering just above the creature's head. The crow shifted fluttered down, landing on the edge of a rooftop. Compared to the orb, it would have been hard to see the crow. Except for her talon, she was completely black and practically sunk back into the shadows.

Eve, however, was not quiet. "Hey!" came a raucous craw. "What are you doing here?!"

The bird was confused: nobody really came here. Orion, for all she knew, was silent and empty every time she came here. She no longer saw Dark, or Bevy, or anybody else that had been here. This person was new, and totally getting all up in her abandoned territory.

Kin-Kin
It is resolve that determines the value of your life.

Kin-Kin's attention was drawn momentarily from where she gazed out to the world below by a bright orb that caught her attention from the corner of her eye. Kin-Kin watched it hover about her for a few precious moments before circling back and lingering above her head. And there it stayed. The young lady looked around slightly concerned, wondering if someone had selected her as some kind of target...

She ducked away from beneath it, skittering backwards. In retaliation the girl took a deep breath, focused hard...

...and the light left her golden form, blocking out the light from the glowing orb that hung there. No sooner had the wolf done so than the source of the strange light revealed themselves. In voice at least. Kin-Kin mused that they didn't seem very friendly. It took a while for Kin to be able to spot them, picking their dark form out of the darkness bit by bit. But she wasn't all that surprised. A bird, dark as night, hiding in the shadows. Of course they were. The most surprising thing was the light they had managed to conjure.

Kin-Kin breathed deeply, trying to regain her composure as the shadows dissipated from around her golden form. She felt as though first impressions had painted her as a bit of a coward, and Kin-Kin certainly didn't want that to spread. With a sliding step and a flick of her tail, Kin-Kin approached them.

"I was born here," she replied smoothly. "And now I live here. Is that a problem?"

She didn't sound angry or annoyed. On the contrary, the question was posed like the words of a playful fae.

"Listen to me."
