Kin-Kin
It is resolve that determines the value of your life.

Kin-Kin lifted a paw to rustle what had been the shattered remains of a chrysalis. It was here... this very spot, was the place where she'd been born. She'd been so small then... She could barely fit one of her paws in there at this age! Well, she'd like to think so at least. Truth was, she'd grown, and she'd grown fast. In a way, the wolf had almost forced herself to- there was a time when, day in and day out she'd done nothing but train, train, train.

She felt that it showed- muscle rippled beneath her golden fur with every slick and well-placed step. It was almost a shame she hadn't been able to put that skill to the test... almost...

Looking up from the remains of her chrysalis and the residue that had once been a puddle of birth-goop, the wolf began to pad around. She'd never really explored this place before. When she'd first hatched, she'd been too small and scared to look. A closer inspection revealed a winding staircase, which the wolf followed. Her claws scraped on stone, and peering over the side of the path felt like a huge mistake. Maybe this could count as training too... with ears pricked to listen to the echoes she climbed, and climbed, and climbed.

At the top, there was seemingly an empty room. There were several windows overlooking the city, but... other than that, there was nothing of interest.

Disappointed, the wolf padded over to one of said windows and peered out, watching the 'stars' twinkle above.

"Listen to me."

Imperia
You. Me. Fight. Now.

Imperia had traveled for a long while, and now found themself in a room they had never been in before. There were twinkling lights, streaks of quartz. They walked along, paws itching for a fight. Their paws hurt from using their spell so many times, so they walked carefully, trying not to put too much pressure on them. But it was hard, and with each step they winced.

Imperia looked around, and soon saw someone walking up a winding staircase. They followed, stalking low and close to the ground. Their claws clinked against the stone path, and they hoped the other didn't hear. They continued to follow until the other entered a room that seemed to be empty.

They entered the room and blocked the main entrance, staring right at the other. "You. Fight me."

"Listen to me."

Kin-Kin's ears twitched as she heard something behind her. From where she'd been sitting, she rose up onto her paws and turned around to face whoever it was that had approached so quietly. Her ears swiveled and pricked, her eyes gleaming bright in the dark for an instant. It was a cat, and one who looked younger than she was.

In a voice flat and demanding, they demanded a fight. In the darkness, Kin-Kin's eyes narrowed. This was... strange. She tried to figure this out in her mind wondering if, maybe, they'd seen her training and come to test her mettle. A test... huh?

Kin-Kin rolled her eyes and tried to seem as though she was unconcerned, padding along the wall away from the window. Truth be told, she'd never been in a fight before. Was this really what she'd been training for all this time? Despite her calm demeanor she felt her heart pounding in her chest. She'd never felt this before, but she couldn't say it felt... bad... She needed to think this over. She needed a plan. She couldn't just charge in. she'd never fought before. Kin-Kin took a deep breath, turned to face them in the dark, and then bowed her head.

She was fully aware that in the darkness, her golden pelt stood out like a sore thumb. She wondered if, instead of glowing, she'd be able to fade away like a ghost...

She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to disappear... only for her fur to light up in gold like a little candle. Pretty but... not what she wanted. She decided to just go with it, and stood tall, moving along the walls like a shark circling its prey.

"Why?" she jeered, like a playful fae.

"Listen to me."

Imperia
You're not scared, are you?

Imperia stared defiantly at the gold wolf, watching her. She seemed unconcerned, something that made the young caracal bristle. She shouldn't be unconcerned! They were challenging her to a fight! She should be very concerned. Their eyes narrowed, watching her every move as she bowed her head. She stuck out quite a bit. As they continued to watch, her fur seemed to only glow brighter.

Imperia's claws scraped against the stone floor as the other began to circle them, slowly and carefully, with deliberate steps. Upon hearing her words, their tail lashed. Why should they fight? They hesitated for a moment before recovering almost immediately. "Why not? What's a little battle?" A pause "Are you scared?" they challenged.

Kin-Kin knew that glowing like this, she'd essentially have a giant target on her throat, so, with a little quiver of nerves in her chest (not that she showed it) Kin-Kin focused again. With a flash of white light running through her gem, her light went out, leaving a pale gleam of gold. "Don't be so quick to assume..." Kin-Kin murmured, pride leaking into her leering tone.

"...That I've said no."

The reflection of light from the outside on her fur was consumed as though absorbed. The wolf was completely shrouded in shadow. With the exception of an occasional claw clacking on stone, the quiet rustle of her cloak as she moved through the darkness, she was silent. Hoping that she'd remain hidden as she crept closer...

"En garde."

Let the fun begin

Imperia tensed, their gaze watching every move of the wolf. Upon hearing what she said, the caracal's eyes shone. So she accepted! Excellent. Almost immediately, she became shrouded in darkness. Imperia's eyes narrowed. Ooh. A challenge. Save for the faint sound of claws on stone and the cloak as it swished, it was completely silent.

Imperia waited for a moment to strike as she walked ever closer. When he hoped she was close enough, he leaped where he believed her to be. His claws were aimed toward the wolf, hoping to scratch her somewhere.

Round 1/10
Attack: Scratch her
Defense: none
Injuries: slightly burnt paws

Kin-Kin crouched in the shadows, watching as the other tried to follow her. After her last whispered challenge, the wolf had fallen silent, only her breaths falling quietly against her whiskers. And in the shadows she hung, waiting and watching...

Soon they lunged, claws outstretched, towards her... maybe Kin-Kin had miscalculated her own visibility. As it was, the shadows around her seemed to disperse. Her secret was revealed, what was the point in holding on- and instead she lunged to meet the cat midair, even though he might have every opportunity to use the claws before he was close enough. Maybe her size would be enough to toss him back...

Before she got there, she felt his claws raking at her chest, and quickly realized her mistake.

I've got you now

As Imperia's claws raked at the wolf's chest, he let out a yowl of victory. She had lunged toward him, perhaps hoping to overthrow him-she was older than him, and a bit bigger-but had failed. He grinned. This was going to be so easy!

With the power from his leap, the caracal tried to pin the wolf down, hoping to make this battle even easier.

Attack: Pin her down!

As she'd chickened out midair, Kin-Kin fell back and felt the big cat come down on top of her. They'd pinned her down to the ground, but Kin-Kin wasn't to be beaten that easily. She saw an opportunity here to regain the upper hand and the creature's ferocious cry had told her that he thought that he was the better creature.

Hah!

Kin-Kin began to write under their grasp, to loosen their grip, and then with all her strength she kicked out at their belly with her hind legs, trying to throw them off of her and onto the ground. If it worked as planned, they might be stunned or fly into the nearest wall, but maybe Kin-Kin was overestimating her own strength...

Imperia
Quote here.

Imperia had her pinned for a moment before she began to writhe underneath him. He growled, trying to hold on and to get her to stop wriggling, but before he could he felt hind legs pushing at his chest. With a grunt of surprise, he was thrown off.

He crashed against a nearby wall with a growl. He rose, shook his pelt, before turning to glare at the golden wolf. He snarled, showing sharp teeth. Maybe it was time to do something else. Maybe it was time to teach them a lesson. He began to focus on his magic, willing the heat to come from his paws.

It took a bit of concentration, but soon Imperia felt the familiar heat that came from his spell. Grinning, he immediately lunged once more toward the other, paws outstretched. Maybe he'd be able to burn her, show her that you don't mess with Imperia.

Round: 3/10
Attack: Burn her!
Defense: none
Injuries: burnt paws
