There were so many of the beast, all crashing and roaring around the Orarian. It had tried to sicken them, to chase them away, but still they came. It could feel the anger of the Leviathan, and it found itself being little more than an uninvited houseguest. Knowing that danger was upon its doorstep, and that the creature called Iris that was determined to stick around had chosen the other side, the Orarian made a judgement call.

Perhaps these creatures simply wanted to destroy everything. If that was the case, it would be best to retreat and watch from a distance. With a low grumbling hiss, the large, transluent thing crept down to the dark depths, inching away with its tentacles cutting through the water. It went down and down, reaching for the hot pockets of boiling water where no land creature would dare come.

If war was here, the Orarian would learn to survive.

Come to think of it, this was about as much violence as Macawi had ever been around in her life, and all of it was making her rather uncomfortable. And Gembounds seemed to be getting into arguments around her, too. And she was getting hurt from this giant monster in the water. No… Maybe it would be better if she just left. Was this cowardice? Maybe. But, honestly, Macawi wasn’t the type to let lack of courage make her feel bad. Her first priority was, honestly, herself. And everyone here seemed to be old enough to take care of themselves and make their own decisions. Otherwise, she’d stick around for the Gemlings’ sakes.

Yeah, she was just… gonna leave now. Giant sea creature/monster trying to kill everyone? No thanks. She could do without all of this. Let the others handle it all themselves. After getting the satchel back onto her shoulder and the headdress back onto her head, she slipped from the room as quickly as possible, sprint down the tunnel and away from Fornax — which was a place she probably would never return to…

The monster had not a single care in the world for the chatter of the invading Gembound. It only cared to see them flee. Some left, and this was enough to satisfy the monster. Now, Leviathan knew that it was capable of scaring off these seemingly fearless pests. As jaws latched onto it and flames charred its hide, it yearned to break the earth, to make it yield and destroy the invaders. For one last time, it gave a massive ear-splitting roar, willing the very rock and stones that held the Caves together to yield.
