Eira was perched on top of a (relatively small) rock, her head raised as high as she could in order to survey the cavern in which they seemed to have found their home. It was peaceful here, no demons had interrupted them, thus far. Maybe it was something about the lights here that kept... them at bay.
Still, she had to stay vigilant. A momentary lapse in attention could be all it took for herself, or her partner Kimen, to succumb. And that was why she sat up here, her head swinging in wide arcs to make up for the lack of one eye. She could see quite far from up here. she could see the entrance to a little hollow where her companion slept and she could see the paths leading to it, and more. If anyone tried to attack either of them, she would see from here.
Satisfaction with this spot almost lulled her into a false sense of security, but she quelled it, just as she always had. She had to keep watch. Anything could happen, at any time. She just had to keep looking.
She didn't need to sleep.
She didn't need to drink.
She could pick on the spiders that were silly enough to run below the rock; perhaps she was a demon, to them.
But she didn't need to move. She'd remain here for as long as it took. Her eye flickering, Eira kept on watching, waiting for something to happen.

Imperia had been walking in Polaris for a while, and found themselves incredibly bored. Was there anyone nearby that they could fight? They sure hoped so. They looked around, and managed to see someone perched atop a small rock. Perhaps they'd be willing to fight.
They decided to try and sneak up on them. They didn't know how much they could see from where they were, but figured it couldn't hurt to try. So they crouched low and slowly made their way over, trying to hide in the shadows. Their eyes were narrowed, mouth split in a grin. While actually fighting was always great, the moments leading up to the fight were great as well. They had to remain undetected in order to gain the element of surprise. They only hoped the other couldn't see them from their perch.

Eira swung their head once more, glancing, twitching. And then, as they peered once more along that same well-known track, they found themselves an oddity. The otter peered out, spotting a movement, as a shadow crept towards them, crouched low. The fur along their spine stood on end, eye narrowed and gleaming.
"Who goes there?" Eira barked. "Do not try to hide from me." Puffing out his chest, Eira tried to look bigger than he was, taking in the shape as that of a cat, far bigger than he was. Staying perched on that rock, Eira prepared himself for a fight. This newcomer didn't look like a demon at a glance, but the way they were acting was... off, at best.
Eira tried not to see them as a threat. Treating an ordinary citizen as he would a demon would lead to no positive consequence.
He breathed out, keeping breaths deep, although already he could feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins. Still, he stood tall, stoic and cool as ever. "Tell me, what is your purpose here?"
"Listen to me."

After a few moments, the other spoke. He had spotted them. Imperia scowled, but lifted themselves fully. They continued walking toward them, however. With careful, yet confident strides, they approached. When they were at a good enough distance, and could see the other fully, they stopped and looked at him.
"My purpose? Why, that's simple," they purred. "You know what I love more than anything? A good battle. And by the looks of you, you might just be able to give me what I want." They eyed the face of the otter, noting that it appeared as though he had lost an eye, likely due to a battle. They briefly wondered if they had won.

"Is that so?"
The otter gazed them down, his one eye bright and alert. He tried at first not to appear hostile, that is until he heard their words. Then slowly, he arched his back, taking the defensive. It appeared that what they were after was... a sparring session...? Eira's eye narrowed as he examined them closely. "You seek to spar?" the otter voiced his thoughts, cool in tone and posture. The other creature was much larger than he was... and because of that, he was wary. With only one eye, too, Eira would be at the disadvantage, or so it would seem.
He was unsure whether this stranger was a demon, or simply a little... confused. There seemed no point to this open declaration of war, something that was... undoubtedly suspicious.
Maybe they were just like him. Duty-driven, albeit with a warped perception of what she stood for. But perhaps a battle was needed to reveal their true colours... "...Why? Is it me you wish to wound, or yourself?" He straightened up, standing tall as he could. "...Either way, if you are a demon, you will fall."
A question as much as a challenge, Eira made it clear that she would not harm an innocent cave dweller without at least some resistance.
But she made sure that she showed no fear.

Imperia was beginning to grow irritated with this one-eyed otter. "Who cares why I want to fight? Maybe I want to do some training. Is that so bad?" she scowled. "Also, what is a demon?" She tilted her head for a second before shaking it. "Nevermind, it doesn't matter. Just fight me!"
Her claws were digging into the stone below, pink claws reflecting the light. She was getting impatient, wanting to fight this smaller otter as soon as possible. Why didn't he want to fight her? If someone came up to her asking for a fight, she'd happily oblige. She'd never turn down a fight!

Suspicious.
Eira narrowed his eye further, silently listening to their words without protest, only slightly raising his whiskered lip as an immediate response. "I would. Anyone in the cave should." a long pause. "...No... I'll let you train with me. So long as you don't sharpen your claws on anyone else."
Straightening up, Eira's lithe body stiffened, and he arched his back defensively once more.
"I can't say for sure... but I can show you what one looks like...!"
Eira paused for only a second, then without hesitation he threw himself off that rock towards the cat, jaws outstretched to reveal glistening fangs.

Finally. Imperia was getting tired of waiting for this otter to fight her. "I can't say I won't sharpen my claws on someone else after this," she chuckled. She then crouched, waiting for the otter to attack when suddenly, he leaped at her. She had tried to dodge, but failed and scowled as the otter landed on her. She started scratching at him, trying to get him off.

Eira felt the cat's face beneath her rubbery paws and struggled to hold on, snarls, squeals and squeaks emerging involuntarily from the back of her throat as she clung, swung, and struggled to drive in her fangs. She felt their claws raking at her back, reopening old wounds on her back and making fresh ones on her sides even as she twisted and writhed to try and avoid it.
She couldn't speak, she couldn't get them off.... she just had to keep holding on.
Eira vs Imperia
Round: 2/10
Attack: Keep clinging on!

Imperia scowled when she realized she couldn't get the otter off. Apparently scratching at him wasn't going to work. She'd have to try something else. So she took a deep breath, trying to get as much air as possible, and let it all out, engulfing the otter in heat. Hopefully that would work.
Round: 2/10
Attack: try to get him off using heatwave
Defense: none
Injuries: burns and scratches
