Not too long ago, a lovely pink diamond chrysalis lay on its side. The tiny stone thing had lain immobile for a while but with a series of rocks and movements it opened to reveal a tiny mongoose. The dusky colored creature wasted no time in acquainting itself with the world. Crawling first then walking as she explored the area with her mind becoming more aware with each passing moment. A pond had collected with crystal clear water which she leaned down to drink, only to stop when she noticed the shining pink fang sticking out from her mouth. It was a gorgeous thing. One of the first gorgeous things she noticed about herself. Diamondfang. She didn't know where the voice in her head whispered from but she knew that was her... Diamondfang was her name and what she would call herself. It fit her and it was a name that she loved.
Satisfied she moved along, looking for... something. Things to explore she supposed.
A few hours later she was down the tunnel leading to Eridanus. Various plants were about, plants that she found she could easily climb. A large fern supported her tiny weight as she scaled it and balancing with three feet while the forth white one was raised into the air she looked around from her vantage point. From this point she saw something in the distance... something moving. Knowing that the fern was big for her but not big for others she searched for somewhere to go. Her sharp silver eyes landed on a strange string on the wall that had glowing orbs attached to it. The string was a few feet away but she knew she could easily get there with a leap.
She leaped but her clutching forepaws missed their mark possibly due to the newness of the creature to the world. The mongoose landed on the ground, vulnerable to all that would pass by. Panicking due to some instinct for security within her she cast around for something and found a tree. A short tree but a tree nonetheless, it would provide some protection. So, she headed straight for it and managed to get to a low limb just as the other thing reached the room.

"Talking looks like this." Thinking looks like this...
Fisher had forgot his lucky rock, he only just remembered as he left the awful place with the long noodle beast with sharp, mean teeth. He didn't want to go back, but he felt so unsettled and vunerable without that gift. Hopefully it would be safe where he left it, he thought, his tail twitching and then burning with pain. He wanted to see Tam, or Ky, or anyone, but he was only suceeding at getting more lost. His ears laid back as he saw a flash of fur, and a low, hissing growl grew in his throat.
He stopped when he saw the fluffy creature bolt up a tree. It might have been food, since it was smaller than him, but Fisher was the opposite of hungry after getting nearly eaten by a snake (and he had already gobbled up a pair of mice). More importantly, this thing could climb like he could, and as extra lengthways like him, and had four legs too. Curious prodded at him as he approached, head tilted to one side.
He put his forepaws up the bark of the tree, squinting up at the mongoose. "Hey! You scared or something? Look, I can climb too," he yipped, his claws sinking into the bark. He hoisted himself up, but didn't climb high enough to reach the low branch before stopping. He was still judging the intents and feelings of the small Little-Fisher.
Her constant watching rewarded her with the sight of a dark creature not unlike herself, just bigger and dog-like... Not that she had ever seen a dog but the word just came to her mind. The other creature like her approached the tree with its head tilted to the side, questioning. Diamondfang tilted her head to the side as well, studying him just as he studied her. The first encounter with another creature led to an interesting one. Neat... very neat. In her mind she was already working on how this could be turned to her advantage. She was new to the world... but was he? Could he help her understand things?
She watched as he leaned partway up the tree, then he spoke those words. Scared? Well, truthfully she had been afraid but she wasn't about to tell him that! Why would she tell him something that would make her seem... well... weak. So, she put on her smug grin that exposed her shining pink tooth for the first time of many. "Scared? No." It was the first time that she heard her voice and she liked the way it sounded. It was light and melodic in her ears. "Just like climbing. We both climb... We alike." She thought of herself as more beautiful and more exotic than he but what she didn't say wouldn't hurt him. She should try to make him friendly... Friendly people were more useful than those that didn't like you... That was right, yes?
As he headed up her way the thought of climbing out of his reach came into her mind. He could climb, yes, but was he as good as her? Even now within the first few hours of her life she thought of herself as better than even those that were like her. Still, because he could climb at all put him a little higher in her book. Not as good as she but still... higher. "How good does you climb?" She questioned with a far too sweet tone in her voice. He could climb but how well could he do it? Perhaps a little competition was in order to see just how worthy he was of her time.

"Talking looks like this." Thinking looks like this...
Fisher's orange eyes glistened as the Little-Fisher said she wasn't scared. Well, that was good, because there was nothing to be scared of! He grinned, his sharp pointy teeth glinting in the Cave's new light. She seemed to like climbing, and Fisher had to agree. Climbing was great! He was already the master of climbing in the cave, and he was plenty happy to show her just how good he was.

Eager to impress his little lookalike, Fisher started to dart up towards the top of the tree. He ran right past Fang's pale, sandy form, and towards the top branches. Once he got high enough, he took his perch and grinned down at her, tail wagging like a horribly excited dog.
"See, I'm the best climber," Fisher gloated, his talent shining through. He had always been the best climber he knew, and that wouldn't change now. He was happy to show her the ropes, but for now he had to explain how he had become the best climber ever and that she had no chance in ever beating him.
"I climbed the Blue Thing! I fought the Blue Thing too, zapped it right good. The Blue Thing had to send a giant monster at me to scare me away, it was so frightened I would destroy it with my awesomeness. I woulda beat the big White Monster too, but there were some little Gembounds that needed help getting away before they got hurt."
Instead of answering her with words the other creature took off further up the tree. She liked that! A man of action rather than words was someone she could get behind! She watched as he went towards the top branches while she stood on her hind legs, head craning back to see him better. Oh? The best climber was he? Well she would test that theory out.
He went on to tell her this story about climbing the "Blue Spire" and zapping it good. Pfft, yeah right! He was probably just making things up and she was here to prove that. With a leap she began to climb the tree but somehow she managed to mess up and slipped. Her claws came loose from the tree bark and she fell for the second time that day back to the ground.
She was a little bruised but otherwise not hurt too badly... except her ego. Her ego for that day was bruised beyond compare. The little mongoose sat up on her rump and crossed her arms angrily while she had an annoyed pout on her face. How could she fall? That wasn't fair! She wanted to show that poop-head who was boss! Hmph!
Fang's silver eyes looked up towards the tree where the fisher perched with a hurt expression on her face. "I only slipped! But I can climb! I'll challenge ya again one day!" She vowed. Now what? She could try to climb again but after the ego bruising she didn't want to do that. Instead she began sniffing around the roots of the tree, searching for a way to change the subject so she wouldn't have to think about her failure anymore.
She found just the subject change.
As she sniffed around the tree she smelled something delicious scuttling around the roots. So, she began digging. The fisher might have been better at climbing but she was far better at searching and getting bugs!

"Talking looks like this." Thinking looks like this...
Fisher's beady eyes sparkled as the Little-Fisher slipped and fell to the ground. She seemed alright as she got up and complained, saying she would challenge him again someday. Obviously she could climb, since she had got to the low branch, but it was always good to not climb too high. Fisher had learned that the hard way, only climb as far as you're willing to fall. His paw still hurt from that incident.
The noodle slipped down the tree, his double jointed ankles making him fly down with natural ease. The weasel plopped down next to Fang, sprawled on the roots, ears twitching. "Sounds good to me," he chittered, tail swishing playfully. "I'm Fisher, by the way. Don't forget the name!"
With that out of the way, the mustelid examined his lighter, smaller companion with curiosity. It seemed like she was looking, digging for something. "... What'cha doing?" He asked, sounding a bit baffled. Sure, he loved a good dig himself, but she seemed to be doing it, to him, to avoid talking to him or something. That didn't make much sense, so he pressed her on it. Only one way to find out what was up, eh?
The mongoose lifted her head once to look at the weasel when she heard him land next to her. Silver eyes meeting his as he gave an introduction. "Good! 'Cause I won't be so easy on ya next time!" She laughed because she knew full well that falling wasn't the same as "going easy" on someone. Now, she knew what her name was but she didn't want to tell him that her real name was Diamondfang. Diamondfang was her name, her own secret one that no one else should know. So, instead of saying that she said her name was, "Fang. And don't you forget it." She said right back with a wink.
Now she lowered her head back down and began scratching at the earth again. "Diggin' 'o course." She replied. Now, where was it... Her instincts told her to keep going and searching so she listened.
After a moment she scraped and scraped and managed to unearthy a juicy earthworm! The little mongoose grabbed it then pulled it out for the fisher to see. "Look! I can dig for bugs! Can you?" The challenge was obvious before she snapped up the bug and ate it. If there was one thing she could do it was dig for bugs. Fisher might be able to climb but could he dig?

Fisher could have laughed when the mongoose told him so determinedly that she wasn't going to go easy on him next time. As if! He didn't need anyone going easy on him. She announced her name as Fang and he nodded approvingly-- that shimmering gem in her teeth must have been why she was named that way. Made sense to Fisher-- he was a Fisher, she had a Fang, it was all good.
She then went on to explain that she was digging. To be honest, he could see that, but he didn't understand why until she pulled up a pinkish noodle from the earth. Oh, she was looking for food! Fisher wasn't big into bugs or wriggly worms, but they were better than raw greens that's for sure. Himself, he'd rather have a tasty mouse or something, but he could see the value in being good at digging as well as climbing.
So with a snort at her challenge, Fisher slipped off of his root and began to dig in a spot a few feet from where she had dug, looking for bugs like she wanted.

Fisher's wide paws and sharp claws dug through the soft soil at the tree's roots, sinking in and pulling free the dirt and smaller roots, until he had managed to find his own worm. Hooking it in his claw, he held it up for the Mongoose, his eyes glittering.
"Easy!" He barked with a grin, watching with delight as the punctured earthworm wiggled in his claws. "I can do anything, Fang. Gimmie another challenge." His eyes glittered, glad to have someone he could show off to.
The little mongoose watched and waited while the fisher came off of his root and began digging. To get a better view she herself hopped up to the root and looked over him. Her silver eyes watched his digging form closely. Hmph. He was an alright digger, she would know. After all, hadn't she pulled out the best and juiciest worm. She didn't say that out loud but she knew that he wouldn't find a worm as good as hers.
The gembound stood on her hind legs to get a better view as he dug and dug. She smirked at his back while he dug. It seemed as if he was taking a long time to dig. Perhaps it was time to claim her victory! "Given up--" He then pulled up a worm. It was just as big and juicy as hers had been! "Yet...?" She finished lamely. Seemed as if he hadn't given up. It was time to up the anty!
With a carefree smile the young one leaped from her tree root all the way over to Fisher. "Not bad, I guess! You're a good climber and a good digger." Then a mischievous look crossed the female's face as she looked at the worm. Another tasty worm. She wanted it. After all, if he wasn't going to eat it then she would.
Quick as a flash the mongoose snapped out with her mouth in an attempt to grab the worm and managed to swipe it and gobble it down. Tasty! "But not good at holdin' onto your meal!" The little creature laughed teasingly but with her next words she offered a consolation. "How about this, Fisher? We'll do one more challenge today. The winner has to catch the other a tasty worm or whatever they want." Having just hatched she didn't know the value of shinies but she would learn. "How about we do a lil' race? We start at that tree root, jump off towards that rock over there, and end at the big leafy thing?" At each object she pointed to give a clear indication of what she meant and she ended with pointing at a large fern on the other side of the room. "So, how does a race sound? Ya ain't scared, are ya?" She gave a swift cocky grin. Perhaps this time she would come out top, she hoped so. She had a reputation to gain.

[[ sure! We can either do one roll and whichever's better, or we could do 2-3 rolls and add the totals together for more like a battle/competition thing. Either way :D We could do a roll for the Tree Root, the Rock, then the Fern-- or just the rock and the fern if you want them to start at the tree root, but yeah. I'll roll for the tree root for now but just let me know what you want to do XD]]
Fisher felt such a swell of pride when his Little-Fisher friend admitted her was goodthe best at climbing and digging. His tail wagged in a most doggish fashion, a grin on his muzzle the whole while. When she snatched the worm from his claws, he didn't even feel offended. It was SO good that she wanted it! Instead, the mustelid just laughed, a chittery, yipping laugh. "All yours! Mice are tons better."
He paused to consider the challenge and wondered just how the mongoose was going to be outrun him. He was definitely the fastest-- oh, right, his paw. He considered his injury quietly, tilting his head at his pale, pretty friend. Well! It would be a fair fight that way, wouldn't it? Surely she could at least keep up with this lightning beast if he had a handicap! Haha.
"Scared? Ain't nothing scare us! Haven't you figured out anything?" The brown noodle laughed, his tail lashing through the air in a violent, cheerful wag. As his chuckle died down, he flashed a grin at the mongoose and decided there was no way he was ever going to turn away a challenge from Fang. She was too much fun! "Alright, you got it. I'm gonna win though!" Fisher barked, before darting towards the tree root.

Or, well, he would have darted towards the root. Instead, he put his paw down and immediately regretted slamming his weight down on his weak paw. Pain shot up his leg and he squeaked slightly, stumbling, but then he was off again, limping with sheer determination towards the tree root. He'd get there, dang it! Gosh darn paw.
