Having finally made it to the lagoon, a small creature now flapped around sporadically in the shallow waters. Tempest, the first goal of her life fulfilled, now flitted around the shadows, having almost been crushed by the sheer force of swimming too close to the waterfall. At only several inches long, it seemed like the little one was in no way prepared for the harsh life of the caves.
And yet here she was; excitedly she chowed down on the tiny, jelly-like organisms that managed to scrounge a life in the shallow waters, where she could swim without fear of being pulled down by the currents or by the weight of her own gem. Occasionally her prescence would be further hinted by a snubbed nose poking out of the waves.
This was her life right now; all instinct.
She ate, slept and swam, the way that nature had intended her to. She didn't stop to consider why. Perhaps she never would. But as she pulled herself ashore for a rest, as her gem pulled her down more than it should have done, the little one found herself wanting to return to the water slmost immediately. She felt lost and vulnerable out of water. But was there really anyone else here?
