Tempest was getting bigger. Over her first cycle it seemed that all she did was ate, hauled herself ashore, and later re-entered only to eat some more. Her heavy bulk, whilst it was simply clumsiness that had toppled her in the beginning, was growing. Now it was her sheer weight rendered her slow and awkward. At a little over two feet long, she was a big baby now. Yet... Was eating and resting really all there was to do in life? There was more food in these waters than she knew what to do with and it was stupid and easy to catch. so she simply ate, rested, and ate some more.
And now here she was, resting on the hard stony ground again, with malachite spires towering over her back. Letting her energy regain, as swimming with this stone weighing you down was no mean feat. But she'd never questioned it. Why?
...She didn't know.
But she was beginning to consider things more. Her shell was itching, and not for the right reasons. She felt she ought to get out there and be more than just... This. But what else was there to be? The to-be giant knew nothing else.
As she lay there lost in consideration, her breaths rumbled softly in the back of her throat.
