"Okay." He said, flicking of his tongue. "I will play this hide and seek game with you." Septiezal reluctantly unwound his long, slender body and slithered to the front of Pharoah. He did not like the height difference between them, it made him nervous. The way Pharoah looked down on him reminded the young python of those dastardly cave bats who would swoop down and try grab him with their horrible claws. The way he was positioned now, this pup could easily bite his head.

No, don't think such thoughts, if he wanted to eat you he would have done it by now, besides, he seems nice.

Septiezal pushed back his uprising fears and allowed excitement to take hold for once. He was about to play a game! He could not wait to show Pharoah how great a hunter he was, why, he could hunt mice with out any sight at all. He'd like to see his new friend try to hunt without any eyes. Septiezal bet he was not great at it as he was. Besides, if he played this game with him, maybe he'll have someone to protect him from those cave bats.

"Umm.. I guess I'll be the finder then." The little python slither to the rocky wall and buried his face in his coils. "1..2..3...uhh." To Septiezal's embarrassment, he remembered that he wasn't great at counting, and ten seemed so far away. "..8..5..stick..7.."

Numbers, why does it have to be numbers?

The puppy let out an excited "woop" when the snake agreed to his game. He looked on in wonder as Septiezal uncoiled himself into his long, noodle-like form. Wow, he couldn't tell that the snake was that big before! It was so weird seeing someone without any legs or anything. He wondered what it was like to have to get around like that. Surely this creature couldn't move too quickly... Perhaps he should have suggested tag instead.

"Alright! I'll go find a hiding spot!" With that the little pup took off as the snake began to count. There were thousands of places to hide in this huge hill of bones. After peering about for a little while he decided he should hide in a little crevice between a bone hill and the wall. He managed to shimmy into it, effectively hiding himself from view.

As Septiezal felt Pharoah's paw steps fade away, he struggled with the task of counting. After a while of losing his spot and forgetting the system all together, he became irritatied and hissed at his completing his task, deciding to quit and search for the hound instead, counting was stupid anyway. There was a problem however. The python felt the direct Pharoah went of in through his scales, he was so busy counting that he forgot. Without the full use of his eyes, he would have to seek out this pup by scent alone. Septiezal felt his gut twist in a knot at the thought of failing this game, especially after he told him that he was great at hunting. He would look like a pathetic liar to his new friend. Burying his anxious nerves behind a sour-hearted mask, he slithered onward, blaming the pup for hiding his scent under his breath.

Septiezal began to loose hope which each flick of his tongue as it brought scents that were not Pharoah's. He could not even tell if he even slithered in the right direction. Disheartened, the little python thought about forfeiting and leaving Pharoah to hide for all eternity in Canis. It did not sound like a bad idea, well, at least not for Septiezal. He did not want to be disturbed to began with. The young python turned to find a different hole to sleep in when suddenly his tongue tasted a familiar scent. It was Pharoah's. It was all the snake needed to rekindle his passion for the game. Now that he found the trail, he could follow it. The hound could not hide from him now. Making a b-line towards the pup's hiding spot, Septiezal lapped the scent up with his forked tongue. The pup's own smell had betrayed him and now, he could sense his body heat. He slithered up the bone hill and slipped between the crevice to where Pharoah was and stretched out his snout to boop him on the leg.

"Found you."

For a long while the canine waited, so long that his spirits began to falter. What if the snake didn't come to find him? What if he'd been stood up and was waiting here for an eternity for Septiezal to find him? Surely that snake wouldn't do that, would he? Not after all those compliments he'd slathered on him! It would make him have to reconsider his tactics for getting others to do what he wanted if his previous method proved ineffective!

However, it didn't take long for him to feel the gentle boop of a snake nose on his leg. The canine glanced downwards at the snake before letting out a laugh and barking, "You found me! Great job! You really are a great hunter!" He could feel his tail wagging side to side happily. Phew! It seemed as if his tactic had worked just fine! The pharaoh hound grinned as he informed the little snake, "Nooow, it's my turn! I'll cover my eyes and count to ten. Make you find a good spot to hide, alright?" With that he shimmied out of his little hiding spot, put his front end on the ground and covered his eyes with both paws. Easily he began to count. "One... two... three... four..."

He carefully began to peek behind him, eye paw slowly uncovering one eye as he tried to spy where the snake went but he made sure to keep on counting so as not --hopefully-- to rouse suspicion. "Five... six... seven... eight... nine..." He bounced up and began to wag his tail. "Ten! Ready or not here I come!"

Quickly! He had to hide! Septiezal slithered out of the crevice and slipped through a nearby small tunnel, feeling the rush of excitement bubble in his veins. Ha! He'd like to see Pharoah follow him through this! The little python could easily slip through this tight passage, but it was not too small. It was as roughly big enough for Gembounds around the pup's size to try and to squeeze through, and he'd imagine Pharoah would look quite silly doing it. Septiezal was beginning to like this game, and maybe Pharoah wasn't such a bad Gembound after all. Frankly, he felt kind of guilty for misjudging him before hand.

Septiezal followed the hidden path until his head popped out into a another room. The python hadn't seen this chamber before, well, smelled, since his eyes were obstructed by shedding skin. From what his other senses told him, this room was chillier and way darker than the rest of Canis, which told him that it was probably big and no lights were lit to brighten this place. Matter of fact, it seemed pitch-black, like his onyx. Strewn all over the ground, he smelled a pit of bones and a few silk spiders nestled in their webs near the ceiling. He could feel their legs give off faint vibrations as they shifted in their webs, eyeing the young snake as he entered their domain. It was as if this chamber was long forgotten, and their was a certain eeriness about it that lingered in the air. Septiezal thought about hiding somewhere else, but he realized Pharoah would probably be done with counting by now. He seemed so good at it.

He tasted nothing dangerous among the pit and the spiders were far way, so he convinced himself that there was no harm in hiding in there. Septiezal cautiously slinked into the Gembound graveyard and weaved his body through the tapestry of bones. He finally came across an odd skull and check it out with his tongue. This seems like good place to hide. he thought to himself. Septiezal slid his body into the skull's eye socket and coiled his body tightly around him.

The little pup began to sniff out where the snake had slithered off to. He wasn't a bloodhound but the way that he held his nose to the earth certainly resembled one. Even though he'd been cheating he had lost sight of the snake after he rounded a bend, and he couldn't very well follow the snake there. Septiezal would notice if he didn't have his eyes closed. So, he kept on trucking and searching. A few times he followed a different trail, ending up upending some sort of lesser gembound snake before turning around and trying to find his snake again. After a few minutes of backtracking and losing trails he ended up getting into a pitch black room.

Now, he didn't like to think that he was a coward... but this place... It unnerved him to no end. It seemed so creepy with he mystery creatures scurrying about in the darkness and the generally musty stench of it all. He could feel his tail tucking involuntarily against his belly as he tried to search for the snake. "Sept... Septiezal, are you here?" He didn't like the whine that was threatening to come into his voice. He didn't like the fear either that ate away at his gut. He liked to feel in charge... here with the mystery of not knowing what was in the darkness... he didn't feel in charge.

Yip!

His tiny voice rang out in a terrified bark as he tripped over a skull and fell flat on his chest. He glanced back but could see nothing, only smell...

"Septiezal! There you are!" He could not deny the relief the flooded his tone and his body. "C-can we go somewhere else?"

Septiezal remained still within the skull as Pharoah called out to him from the darkness. He fought back the urge to snicker as he imagined the pup stumbling around the room, looking under ever bone. Then suddenly, the skull flipped as a force slammed into it, sending it tumbling. Septiezal's heart jumped when he went with the skull and dispite being blinded by the shedding and darkness, he felt his other senses tumble about in a disorienting storm of confusion and mild pain. Half of the python was thrown out of the socket, where he hung there like dangling eyeball, only to perk up and find his bearings when Pharoah stated that he found him.

"Why? Afraid of the dark?" He teased. "The spiders aren't going to hurt us." Septiezal went to slither between his legs, his cold scales would slide against the hound's paws if he kept them still."But yeah, lets leave, this place is freezing my blood solid."He replied. This chamber was a little on the chilly side. It was certainly a lot colder in here than it was in the rest of Canis. The sooner he could leave, the warmer his muscles will get. Also, it was a little a on the creepy side, but he didn't want to mention that Pharoah. He slid his tongue out, trying to pinpoint his and Pharoah's scent trails they could guide them out.

Afraid of the dark? He looked around in the complete darkness and the scuttling things that lived within and said, "Oh, yeah yeah, I know. I'm not scared. It's just hard to walk here because it's so dark, you know?" He tried to say it nonchalantly but there was an undercurrent of fear there. As a direct reaction to the fact that he was trying not to call attention to the fact that his voice was quavering his magic kicked in and a low hum began to reverberate near the pair. It didn't directly come from Pharoah but instead the air around them. It was a barely audible sound but just there in his and hopefully his friend's ears and it was slightly distracting.

He could feel the snake slithering in between his paws and it was a strange sensation to feel the cold-blooded reptile touching his paws. Reflexively he looked down a false concern in his voice as he asked, "Are you alright? How're you staying alive when you're so cold?" The vibrating sound had by now stopped as he wasn't trying to hide his fear and curiosity was alight in his tone as he bean to make his way back towards the exit with Septiezal.

Strange ariel vibrations tickled his body as Pharoah spoke. This confused the earless snake, so much so that he did not catch what his new friend had to say. He never felt anything like it before. It was like a million bats, continuously speaking with their wings. Funny, he did not taste any bats when he first entered here. Septiezal slowed his slither to a crawl and periscope, despite his lack of sight. His forked tongue confirmed that there were indeed no bats, just him, Pharoah, a couple of silk spiders, and room full of bones. He was about to ask Pharoah if he 'heard' it too, but the sensation stopped as quickly as it came, so he decided to shed the thought.

He picked back up on the trail, specifically Pharoah's as he found it the strongest. Septiezal tapped his tiny tongue over the bones like a blind mole feeling with their whiskers. He felt Pharoah ask him a question. It returned his thought to his stiffening muscles, but, he could not help but find his friend's curiosity amusing. "Honestly, I don't know." He answered. It was the truth, he did not know why he came out cold and everyone warm anymore than why he did not possess those handy limbs other Gembounds had sprouting from their bodies. All he knew is that the warmer he was, the looser and more alive his body felt. Perhaps heat was his key to survival.

"Maybe it's because I'm not alive at all." The serpent jokingly mused out loud. He knew that wasn't it, but was curious to see Pharoah's reaction.

"Speech."
