Arkrael Ask me for my forgiveness

Paws moved quickly, splashing through the shallows of the water that surrounded the small 'islands' that resided within this cavern. It was an interesting place Fornax. She hadn't had time to explore it when it had been revealed to everyone so she had definitely made time to go visit it now. The water was warm and Arkrael had to say she quite enjoyed that bit about it. A large splash and the mutated hellhound went diving into the water. She swam around underwater for a moment before she ultimately had to pop up over the surface and paddle her way back towards the land.

Dragging herself out she quickly shook her entire body, sending water flying in all directions. A grin marred her otherwise emotionless features and soon a laugh escaped her as her familiar came swooping by and playfully tugged at her ears on his way by. She playfully bared the front of her fangs at the squeaking dragonbat who circled around just out of reach. Finally she plopped down on her rump and leaned to the right side just so she could scratch at her shoulder.

It was definitely relieving to be able to go and just...relax. It had been a long time since she just stopped worrying about anything and just spent the day playing around. She definitely needed it.

Tuck stood at the entrance into Fornax, staring at the most amount of water he’d ever seen in his young life… Okay, that wasn’t entirely true. He’d been to Cetus before, and that place also had a ton of water, but… this place seemed to be nothing but water, as opposed to the swampy trees of Cetus which dominated the landscape there. Here there were no trees, which made Tuck feel extremely out of place as it always did. He couldn’t swim, as far as he knew, and with his brand-new backpack slung onto his shoulders, he wasn’t going to risk getting into the water. He’d rubbed the pack all over with resin to make it waterproof, but there no real lid, so the inside could easily fill with water if he ever submerged himself with it on.

Besides, there was another Gembound here, and if he needed to fight it or run away, he’d much rather do so on solid ground. He ducked with a flinch when a very large bat swooped down towards the wolf-like creature, hoping it wouldn’t spot him and attempt to make a meal out of him. Lesser Gembounds — if indeed that’s what it was — were stupider than Greater ones and tended not to care whether what they ate could talk. For now, he decided to remain silent and simply watch.

For a moment longer Arkrael continued to just sit there, watching as Pheo flew around high near the ceiling. A smile formed over her features but soon enough new scents were quickly caught in the wind. Her attention was pulled away and Pheo's voice quickly chimed up in her head.

'Others here! others. One close. Small. Small creature! eatable?'

Arkrael found herself laughing at his words. She wasn't sure if he was the one hungry or if he was the one picking up on her hunger. 'Probably not. I smell no cave deer,' She responded to him in thought as she slowly rose to all four paws. She scanned the area, but when she did not see anything of interest she quickly called upon her gem.

Her opal sparked to life instantly, flashing in a variety of colors as she also felt it's familiar vibration against her chest as it's magic quickly came to life. The sensations of other gems pulsed through her, but it was one in particular that was the closet to her. She turned her gaze towards the direction. On another island that was only a short swim away the creature was at. She offered a smile as she quickly pinpointed him. "Hello over there!" She called out to them as Pheo came swooping down quickly only to easily land upon her back as he too peered across the water to where his companion was looking.

Tuck was very surprised when the gigantic bat landed on the back of the wolf. He stared open-mouthed at it until said wolf seemed to locate him and said hello. Quickly, he shut his mouth again and looked around a little embarrassedly. “Is that your bat?” he asked the Gembound. “Could you tell it I’m not food, please, if it is?” He paused, and gave a sort of lopsided grin. “If it’s not, then… you’ve got a giant bat on your back.” He took a moment to study the wolf, who didn’t look like any wolf or dog he’d ever seen. She had little spike-things growing out of her elbows and stuff.

With absolutely no finesse whatsoever, Tuck asked, “What are you?” He would — maybe — learn to be more tactful with age, but for now, as a child, he had no idea that his question could be offensive. Hopefully the wolf wouldn’t take it as such.

Arkrael's head tilted a bit to the side as she listened to the marmoset begin speaking. She could have laughed when he asked about Pheo. "Yes he is my bat. His name is Pheo and he's fairly nice. I assure you he will not eat you," By the end of her words Arkrael let out a little chuckle as she glanceed around before slowly making her way over to the land mass the marmoset was upon. She didn't want to have to keep yelling across the room for their conversation. Once on the otherside, Arkrael shook herself and sent water flying in all directions once again.

Large ears perked up and focused on Tukluk as he spoke again. Oh. "Uhm," She began thoughtfully as she lowered herself onto her haunches while Pheo quite easily hung from the side of her neck with his feet clutching into the long strands of fur on her hackles. "Well I was a wolf," She explained thoughtfully before giving a small grin, "However, I am not quite sure what particular breed....I am now. My name is Arkrael by the way," She introduced herself with a warm smile.

Even with the wolf-thing’s assurances, Tuck still eyed the bat warily. He was very aware of the size difference between them, and this Pheo was still a dumb Lesser Gembound no matter what. When the wolf-thing decided to come closer to Tuck, he couldn’t help but begin backing away, almost into the tunnel. And he was glad he did so, because the second she was on dry land again, she shook her fur to get the water out. If he’d stayed where he was, he would have been bombarded with water droplets. As it was, he simply watched her, waiting for whatever it was she had wanted to do after coming over here.

Okay, so she had been just a regular wolf at some point. That was interesting, though not surprising. And her name was Arkrael. “I’m Tuck,” he told her, and then studied her quietly for a moment. “How do you not know what breed you are now?” he asked. “What happened that changed your breed?”

... But she never answered. She seemed lost in thought, as if the question had struck a cord -- not that he knew that for sure. He couldn't read minds. Only, the longer she stood there and said nothing, the more awkward he felt, until finally, he gave up entirely and scurried away out of Fornax, wondering where the conversation had gone wrong...
