Zevruu walked along the tunnel leading from Polaris to Orion. Tears had begun falling freely down his face. He had failed one of his spells in the magicka competition! And to make matters worse, he had cried in front of everyone! Perhaps if he hadn't cried, it wouldn't have been so bad. But he did, and now everyone probably thought he was weak!

He was weak. Whether he liked it or not, the Serval was weak. He had tried to hide it, but it kept coming back to haunt him. First the battle against the rats, and now this. He flopped down along one of the sides of the tunnel. Tears began to flow faster and faster until he was downright sobbing. He lay on his stomach with his paws over his eyes, hoping to stop the tears, but it was all to no avail. They just kept coming. Eventually he gave up and just let the sobs rack through his body, not even bothering to try and stop them.

Wow! All of these gembounds were so powerful with their magick! The young filly watched from somewhere in the middle of the ground as the gembounds performed their spells and did fantastic feats! This was so incredible! The most amazing thing she'd seen in her young life! Only... a few gembounds must have failed their spells because they seemed upset. Saga didn't like to see others upset so when one of the felines performing began to cry... Well, she felt a stirring in her chest. Her young gaze locked onto the creature and though there were others performing she couldn't help but watch him as the tears rolled down his cheeks.

At the conclusion of the contest she didn't even stay to talk to everyone else, instead she followed along behind the serval as he ran off towards one of the tunnels. Why was he sad? Because he failed a spell? It was okay! She thought he had done great! He made a necklace all pretty! And he'd made a rainbow! Something she'd never seen before but loved immediately when she saw it. She didn't want him to be sad so she followed along behind him a safe distance as she watched where he went.

Her hooves made loud clopping sounds in the tunnel as she drew up near him. Softly she nickered, "Why is sad? This One think Zevruu do much good, kir! Very much good! Make pretty things, kir!" She smiled at him, eyes shining with warmth that showed he words were genuine and not ambiguous in the slightest.

Thinking looks like this...
Tuck had never felt so useless in his entire life! He’d failed all three of his spells! He ran-hopped rather blindly in some random direction, crying hard and unable to see very much because the tears were blurring his vision. Some others had failed a few times, sure, but none of them had failed all three of their tries! Why did it have to be him? He practiced Magic every chance he got! And he’d seemed to improve some time ago, reaching a level of Magic he hadn’t been at before. But then this had happened and now he was thinking of giving up Magic altogether! What was the point of it if it didn’t work half the time?

He was running so blindly, he didn’t even notice the other two in the tunnel until he literally head-butted a horse in the leg. He let out an “Oof!” and fell backwards onto his rump, rubbing his head from the pain. Great. Now he was crying and he had a headache. He glared up at whoever was stupid enough to stand right in his way — and saw that it was Saga. “Saga!” he exclaimed, surprised. “What are you doing here? Weren’t you at the competition?”

And then he noticed the crying serval, the one who had run away crying earlier. Some part of him laughed at himself for being exactly like this cat — one he’d seen before, come to think of it. “Hey, don’t cry,” he said, his own tears drying a bit. “I did worse than you, trust me! I failed all of my tries!”

Words: 267 @Zevruu @Saga -- Briar, there's a bit of PPing in here when Tuck ran into her leg. Tell me if you want me to change it!
From the depths of the tunnel they crawled, hissing and growling quietly the whole way. Following the voices they heard upon hatching into this world, the white hybrid approached the three others, speaking some nonsense the hybrid didn't understand. They remained hidden in the shadows of the narrow tunnel, spying on the gembounds and narrowing their eyes.

The littlest one exclaimed and shouted too much for them to stand and suddenly the heathen junped from their crevice and out into the dim light of the tunnel. Their fur and flesh began to sizzle and smoke, letting off the putrid scent of death and fire and smoke combined. Buring flesh and skin hurt the hybrid, but they felt little pain with all the anger they held. They roared, loud and guttoral with a menacing glare towards the three gembounds. This is my home! They snapped again, clicking their teeth together loudly before the roar turned into a snarl. Go away!

Zevruu had just started to stop crying when he heard someone approach. Looking up, he saw a young horse. He sniffled. He didn't say anything, just let his tears fall. They were falling down much less than before, so for that he was glad. When someone else came up, he began to shift his paws. One other was fine, sure, but two? He soon realized that it was the one who had failed all of his spells. He suddenly felt guilty for crying. He had only failed one, while the other had failed all of theirs! What right did he have to cry? He was so weak and pathetic, wasn't he? Always too easy to cry.

"I-I-I'm sorry. I shouldnt b-be crying. A-a-at least I managed to do two spells..." His stutter was much more prominent, as a result of his crying. He was also trying to hurry and apologize, which didn't make it any better. He opened his mouth to talk more, but was cut off from a loud noise, as well as a horrid stench. He watched, eyes wide as someone came up, roaring. His ears were lowered flat against the top of his head and he crouched low, terrified. Who was this? Why were they so angry?

The little feline creature didn't say anything to her, he was probably too sad and embarrassed for that! No, he just snuffled at her and the filly wanted to help... So she gave him a huge grin, a smile that met her eyes and showed that she didn't think any less of him at all. She only wanted him to be happy and get over what happened!

A tiny bump against her leg distracted her and caused her to turn and see, "Ki'Eh! Ki'Eh! My Ki'Eh!" The little filly started to give him a big nuzzle but stopped, remembering what he'd told her about personal space. So, she settled for nickering at him though with the excited way she shuffled on her hooves it was obvious what she wanted. "Saga was yes! She was watching the Magicka Competition before she goes to compete in Obstacle Course!" Though with Zevruu's mess up she'd partly missed her friend's performance which bothered her to no end! "Oh, Ki'Eh, This One is sorry! She missed your performance!" Though with what Tukluk said next it was probably a blessing that she had... Still, the little filly would have been rooting and yelling his name either way!

She was about to say as much when a loud sound that awoke instincts deep inside her that she didn't even know she had. The equine let out a loud warning snort in her nose while one hoof stamped the ground. Her ears began to rotate around on her head until they came aligned with the source of the awful snarling. A cat. Killing. Biting. Eating... Terrible! Awful! Bad! It took everything in her to not turn and bolt right then and there. If it weren't for Tuck she would have but with him there she wouldn't go anywhere. Ugenently she lowered her head to him and began to frantically try to get him onto her muzzle. "Ehkor! Ehkor! On! Go! We go! Bad Bad! Run! Out! NOW! On on on on!" She was barely coherent as the whites of her eyes began to overtake the normal coloring while they rolled desperately about in her head, trying to watch the cat while also trying to find the nearest exit where she could bolt.

Tuck had to admit that as annoying as Saga could be — and she was annoying every time he saw her — she was still adorable. She bent down towards him, clearly wanting to knock him over with her giant nose, and he put his hands up in defense automatically, but the nudging never happened. Instead, she lifted her head again and pranced around, nickering excitedly. He laughed out loud, forgetting for once his complete and utter failure at the Magicka Competition. He decided to let her have her way and reached out with tiny paws and petted her snout, almost as if she were his pet. He secretly did not think her very intelligent, and treated her as a child — which she was — but so was he, even though he often forgot that.

Tuck laughed at her eager words and kept laughing as he realized that she was talking so fast that he couldn’t get a word in edgewise. But then her entire demeanor changed in the course of a second, and he spun around at the new scent in the air, freaking out immediately at the giant feral cat… thing. It was way too big and muscular and bulky to be any kind of cat he knew about. But that didn’t matter. It was pissed and that was all that mattered, and suddenly Saga was urging him to get on top of her head so they could run away and Tuck was completely forgetting about the other, smaller, friendly Cat in the tunnel with them.

He scrambled up onto Saga’s muzzle without any objection, all the fur on his body puffed up in agitation, orange eyes wide with fear, staring at the angry Gembound that seemed so feral as to be a Lesser creature. What was it? Why was it so pissed at them?

They weren't leaving. While the large prey animal scrambled to get the smaller prey upon it's face, it wasn't fast enough. They wanted them gone now. They hissed at the pair, ignoring the other, smaller feline for now. A deep rumble sounded inside their stomach cavity then, filling the hybrid with a rage much different than moments before, but one that made them focus on the two prey animals for many moments while the small monkey crawled up the face of the horse. The other cat, although seemingly forgotten, wasn't scrambling like the others. Creeping towards the pair, their body lowered as if they were about to pounce. Hunt.

Teeth bared still, they took a moment to glance at the serval. Would they eat too? They really wanted to chase the horse down and eat it for a nice, rehatching meal, but the job was too much for just one predator alone. They needed assistance, even if it was from a smaller feline with less meat on their bones. They didn't spend too long watching the serval, though, and soon the fiery gaze of the hybrid was back on the prey duo. The monkey wouldn't even be tasted, but in case the horse dropped them, he'd be a quick and easy meal to tie them off. But really, that horse was the mail goal. With a final glance to the serval and a jerk of their head towards the pair, she began to creep towards the duo. "Hungry... Hunt." The voice didn't even sound like the one the beholder had before this feral state, and instead carried a very... predatory sound to it. Their focus was solely on the hunt and nothing else at this point, and as a smirk stretched across their face, they would soon break out into a run after the pair unless stopped.

@tukluk @zevruu @saga

Zevruu watched as the horse-had she called herself Saga earlier?-tried to get the tiny monkey onto her snout. His eyes widened. Were they going to leave him here? Fear seized him. He watched as the newcomer began to watch the duo. When she lowered herself and began to creep closer, he immediately recognized what she was trying to do. He had to stop her! But how? She was bigger than him! When she glanced over at him, he still sat there, ears lowered and eyes wide. How would he be able to stop her?

When she motioned towards the horse and monkey and spoke, Zevruu gulped. He had to do something, and fast! Gathering up all of his courage-which was, admittedly, a small amount-he quickly jumped in front of the hybrid. "Stop! Y-you can't hunt them! There's o-other things here for you to h-hunt, just don't hunt them!" Would this be enough? He had no idea. Quick, what else could he do? ...Would a spell distract her? It was worth a shot, surely. He just hoped she didn't decide to eat him!

When absolutely nothing happened, not even a glimmer, he was once more seized by panic. His spell hadn't worked! He looked at the hybrid, a look of pure terror on his face. Would she do something? Would she move him out of the way? Attack him? He let out a whimper.

The filly hardly registered the fact that the smaller feline was still there. The only thing that mattered right now was Tuck and the larger white beast that was coming at her. When her little friend scrambled onto her nose the filly turned on her heels and began to try and gallop away back towards Polaris where there was a huge crowd of others. Hopefully being in a group would keep her and her friend safe.
