Down in the deepest, darkest crevice of the tunnel was an aquamarine chrysalis, large is height and width to to average gembound, but not so much so to be noticed easily. Little light catches the facets of the gemstone, leavingbit shrouded in darkness all hours of the day. What had led it's inhabitant to this spot before becoming one with the stone was unknown, even by the being.
Long moments passed before the stone started to crack - never breaking, just cracking. The large vertical crack up the center hadn't quite broken through until another few long moments later, when a large white beast slid out of the chrysalis and into the wall adjacent to the stone. A guttoral roar escaped the gembounds throat, gurgling fluid as it ejected from their lungs. They stood on shaky legs but soon grew the strength to stand. Eyes of molten gold scanned the room from their crevice before emerging once deemed alone. Did anyone live in this cave? There were voices near by, causing the heathens ears to twist and turn until locating it and following the trail it gave.
