It was dark. Very dark. There was a small crack in the chrysalis, not at all large, but it seemed to be enough to build excitement. Suddenly, the chrysalis shattered with a tiny squeal, releasing pieces everywhere around the glowing cave. It had not been the chrysalis that had squealed, though; inside there had been a sodden bundle of fluff. The wolf pup opened one eye and looked around her. The meek darkness prevented her from seeing much anyway, and her puppy eyes were not that helpful.

She was barely enthusiastic or jovial as she wandered nearer the entrance of the cave, but her heart was beating heavily with new-born excitement and her eyes were bright and her pink nose twitching. She was barely the character that would make you run off, screaming. She neared the entrance, tail between her legs.
