a skip in his step, rui made his way into tunnel J, free from the blinding lights of orion. his eyes were still just a little bit sore, and probably looked a little silly all lidded like that on his immature face! it was cooler than he was used to, growing cooler, and it stung to his pelt a little bit. he was made for hot, humid weather, and the landscape was growing more and more alien as he went on. he'd have to wrap up this little adventure soon--he was beginning to miss lounging atop his tree in eridanus, where shelter and food was plentiful.
but as he entered the tunnel, a large, shimmering engraving caught his eyes, and he paused for a moment to admire it. it was like anything he'd ever seen, and he stood still for quite a few moments, eyes wide in wonder. it was.. pretty, and extravagant, and he almost wanted to touch it, but it was too high up for his little body to reach.
a grand idea breached rui's mind, then, and his attention was quickly torn from the carvings on the entrance of the tunnel!
time to hunt for some treasure.
... but, in an attempt to spin around and start his search, it seemed he ground his little pink paw into something terribly sharp instead.
"ow ow ow ow ow!" cried the cub, stumbling back and growling viciously at whatever it was that had sliced him. licking his pawpad pitifully, he looked at the ground only to find a sharp rock protruding from the ground ominously. it didn't even look that rare or cool! what foul fate had befallen him!
upset, rui limped further into the room, and settled himself sourly into a very boring corner in the middle of the tunnel. there wasn't that much blood; it was only a minor cut, and as long as he didn't walk on it and infect it it'd probably be fine, but it really put a thorn in rui's mood. he debated casting a spell, just so no one would stumble by and see him like this.
"speech."
