Soren giggled at Nox, watching her admire herself. He quite liked her, of course she had been the first creature he had seen upon emerging and he supposed that created a special bond between the two of them. Perhaps it was an inane idea, the idea that they were bonded together but he would surely always have a soft spot in his heart for her. He straightened out, smiling at the happiness he felt. It was strange how the entire feeling was enveloping him, making him feel extremely warm and fuzzy. He allowed himself to experience the emotion and with a jolt he stepped back. His front hooves were glowing green. He stared at the glow, that rippled like electricity across his hooves, growing till enveloped his entire front legs.

Experimentally he lifted a leg, staring at it and then. He prodded the ground, before his hoof even touched the ground a spike of green-electricity shot from the tip of his hoof into something in the ground. He felt how the shot had drained him of energy and the green glow immediately disappeared from his skin and he stood back. Looking a little bit confused for a moment.

Of course Nox would not have been able to see the green electric glow, it was the manifestation of his magic, only he could see the green electric power. Of course he didn't know this. "Yoo Ssseee?" he asked, to astounded at what had just happened to be concerned with pronouncing the words correctly.

As he stared at the ground where the magic had struck he watched as a small green head poked up, growing a little bit larger than a new shoot. He grinned at the little piece of greenery and motioned to Nox that she should look at it.

The little slug turned back towards the deer, happy little gurgles escaping past her beak. The tip of her tail was twitching and her little claws clinked against the crystal shard she held. She watched them, curiosity growing inside of her. She couldn't see anything that they seemed to see, so she was straining hard through her gem and staring at them.

Nervously, she gulped back her fear and nodded at their question, she couldn't tell what she was meant to be looking at. Did she see it? Maybe she could see it but she just didn't know!

...As if on cue, Nox saw a tiny head beginning to poke its way out of the ground. Excited ripples spread all the way through her body. It was a plant! maybe it would turn into a flower! She watched it gradually unfurl, never once taking her eye off of the growing plant. She was already looking at it, very intensely indeed. She hoped it'd turn into a flower! Nox loved flowers.

trying to encourage the little thing, she closed her eyes and nudged the little stem, pitch-black slime clinging to it.

Soren watched the plant unfurl, it did no quite produce a flower, simply stopping at a short stem with a few leaves yet still. it amazed him that he had done that. His little tail wagged as he giggled excitedly while Nox poked it, obviously trying to get it to grow more. Yet it wasn't her that did it, it was him. He couldn't help himself, as he mimicked Nox's touched of the plant, careful not to get the black sticky goop she had left on it on him. Of course nothing happened yet he was still excited and with a burst of energy he didn't know he hopped around the plant and Nox in a circle. His legs acting like springs. He was learning fast and once he had realised what he had done he stared at his legs in wonder. The clue to walking was that one shouldn't think about it and so his tail wagged as he tried very hard not to think of the steps he took till he was standing next to Nox.

"Yooo?" he asked, expecting that she too was able to coax the plants from the soil beneath them. He watched her expectantly, waiting to see what she could call forth. She was older than him, not by much, but still she was older than him. So surely she would be better at this. His ears flicked in excitement, his tail doing the same as he watched her.

Nox watched Soren prancing around her in his excitement, and she began to bounce too! Letting out small gurgles, she watched him closely as he bounced and pranced before finally stopping to look closely at her and give a questioning rumble. "Mmm... I'unno!" she replied curiously, getting their meaning easily. Closing her jaws, Nox bowed her head before the little flower, trying her hardest to grow something next to it.

She focused on all the bright and happy feelings and they swelled inside her, creating something that was tangeable... if not what she was expecting. Warm feeelings grew and grew, until they were warmer, warmer... hot! Nox panicked, a squeal emerging from her throat as she opened her mouth and spat a small stream of superheated air. Immediately the flower, and the slime puddle it was sat in, burst violently into flame, with the plant crumbling almost immediately into ash.

Nox squealed in shock, wriggling her fingers to try and put out the fire, but it only hurt the closer she got. So instead the little one shied away, covering her mouth with her claws and sobbing violently as the flames died down, leaving not even an ash in its wake. She seemed to fold in on herself, curling into a tiny ball.

Soren watched Nox closely as she tried to replicate what he had done, a grin covering his face. He was beyond excited as he watched her. He wasn't sure where she would call her plant from but he was sure he would see the same green electricity on her that he had seen on himself. It took a moment for him to realise what was happening as she squealed yet the explosion threw him backwards. He landed on his rump, rolling backwards and lying on the ground few a few moments, his ears ringing. He was not sure what had just happened. He could not hear Nox's crying because of the ringing in his ears and for all intensive purposes it seemed that he was dead. Rather his small and frail body was just in shock. His brain was running amuck as he tried to figure out what was going on.

Slowly he recounted the steps, he had been in a warm place, the warm place had been taken away and then he had encountered a black slimy creature, Nox. He had pulled a plant forth from the ground and then when Nox had tried... he was thrown backwards and now he couldn't really hear anything. He didn't rush to stand up, he waited until the ringing stopped and the sobs that he heard from Nox sent a different message. She hadn't done this on purpose, what if she thought he was dead?! But to be perfectly honest, he wasn't ready to stand up just yet, his little body was still shaking.

The raging inferno had burned itself out soon enough, and finally disappeared with a great belch of smoky putrefaction. But Nox stayed, unaware of this, curled up into a tight ball much smaller than her initial appearance. Her tail wrapped around her beak and paws and her tail seeming to ooze over herself, she was almost indistinguishable from the slime she oozed. With her sobs, said slime poured off her thicker than ever, every twitch sending a fresh oily wave into the pool that was forming around her.

When the little slug finally opened her jaws to find Soren, she could barely see, instead spitting out a mouthful of goop before finally searching with a slime-covered eye. She saw him! Bit by bit, the slug made her slow way around the pile of ashes that had been a leafy little plant. She reached out for Soren with her beak and was about to nudge his side... but quickly grew afraid and began to squirm her way away from the deer. She didn't want to get any of this rotten slime on him! No!

She was afraid now, afraid of what she'd done and what he'd say. But she stayed some distance away and waited for him to get up.

"I... I sorry..." She croaked, through the slime that oozed from her mouth and down her chin.

Soren's head was still spinning as he lifted it, his hearing just coming back. It was back in time to hear the poof of smoke and he turned to stare at the smoke, his eyes falling to the ground where his little miracle plant was. His ears flattened against his head and tears formed in his eyes at the loss he had just experienced. For a youngling that had never had to deal with any hardship in his life this... this was the worst thing that had ever happened to him. The tears ran down his cheeks effortlessly, he didn't even attempt to hide them, his heart breaking. He glanced at Nox, who was now apologising. She seemed to be sorry yet... he was still upset. He was not sure if he was angry at her but... he just didn't want to deal with her right now. Her own slobbering and crying. It was his creation that had been destroyed. Not hers, yes perhaps she was sorry yet... her saying the words did not make the pain in his chest feel any less.

He didn't say anything to her, beyond the glance in her direction it was the only acknowledgement he gave her. His heart was broken, his little creation was... gone. With a sigh, ears flat atop his skull and head hanging low he stood up. He shook himself, the dust and plant-life from the ground that clung to him floated to the ground. With that he turned his back on Nox, leaving the blubbering creature to her own devices. He jolted away, letting his legs carry him as far from her as they possibly could. He didn't want to see her ever again, she had killed his beautiful green leafy plant. The thing he had brought forth. This was literally the worst day ever, first he emerged from his warm and safe cocoon and then... Nox blows up his creation.

Despite everything, despite all the warmth she'd felt for this new friend, Nox had gone and ruined it. For the first time in her life, the little slug felt absolutely distraught, slime pouring off her in a thick trail as, she wriggled and flapped her way forward,desperately trying to chase her friend down. But alas, they were too big and their legs were too long, so the young one could only cry out after them and hope they'd understand.

"Waaaiii! Waaiiiii!" she sobbed desperately.
"I didn' mean it! I didn'!" but alas, they didn't turn around. The little slug soon was alone, sobbing until her throat was hoarse and her eye stung, and she felt her slime thickening as she slowly dried out.

Sitting in a puddle of her own creation, the little one felt suddenly insecure. She longed for someone to find her here and soothe this pain, but she was frightened of what she'd done, and frightened that she might do it again.

Sniffling, Nox began to drag herself towards the waterfall pool, instinct telling her not to let herself dry out. But part of her felt compelled to just sit here and wait for her friend to come back. So, turning back to where they'd disappeared, that's what she did. She lost track of time as she waited until she finally fell asleep.
