Obviously she won't be killing anyone, but I want something to give her a nasty shock to spur on some character development.

It'll begin with her getting highly emotional (probably anger or fear), covering the other character in slime, and end with her accidentally setting said slime alight so that it combusts dramatically. It doesn't need to be a fight thread (heck, it might be more impactful without a fight). It could be interesting with someone she's close to, but she'd need a very good reason for it, which is why I'm hesitant for it.

This can happen any time, but will probably be around her second or third cycle at the latest.
