Design a Spell Contest

Have you ever had a really cool idea for a spell, and tried to find a way to make it work, but its just too different from our existing spells to make sense? Do you like flexing your creative muscles and making up new and exciting ways to use the magic on Origin? Well, we have just the thing for you! This Design a Spell contest will have you do just that - design a spell to be used on Origin! Here's what we want to see:

Spell Name: Think of a cool name for your spell.
Element: What element does it belong to?
Intensity Level: Low, Medium or High?
Spell Type: Offensive, Defensive, Transformation, Manipulation or Detection?
Describe It: What does it do? How does it work? Does it harm the user and/or targets?
Icon: Optional - provide us with a 20x20px pixel icon!

You are allowed to submit as many spells as you like, however please be aware that at maximum we will only choose 2 of your spells to win. Also keep in mind that we want to vary the spells that win, so we are less inclined to pick spells of the same element/type/intensity. We will be selecting a total of 6 spells from this contest and adding them to the Magicka shop in the future. If you don't provide us with an icon, we will be happy to make one ourselves - but wouldn't it be great to have your work featured on Origin? This contest will run until June 5th at which point we will select and announce the winners.

Spell Name: Mind Flay
Element: Arcane
Intensity Level: Medium
Spell Type: Offensive
Describe It: The assailant uses magicka to work their way inside of their opponent, stripping away at the mental faculties as if peeling an onion. Over extended exposure to this ability it is possible to turn a Gembound completely insane, but it requires far too much concentration. Users must remain in a fugue-state in order to perform it - at least until they're proficient.

Spell Name: Drift
Element: Light or Energy
Intensity Level: High?
Spell Type: ---
Describe It: The user manipulates light/energy particles to create a 'doppleganger' or double, which trails after their designated target. Can be used in battle on the caster in order to fool an enemy, or out of battle in order to track / trace someone. The longer this ability is in use, the weaker the caster becomes.

Element: arcane
Intensity Level: low or medium
Spell Type: detection
Describe It: allows the user to temporarily see others auras within a 20 foot radius, allowing them to see auras through obstacles to detct life. Certain color auras mean certain emotions.

Spell Name: Electric Slide
Element: Electricity
Intensity Level: Medium
Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: The user negates the friction of any material immediately underfoot, allowing them to skate smoothly over any surface.
Icon: Will make one later maybe.

Spell Name: Dryad
Element: Plant
Intensity Level: High
Spell Type: Defensive
Describe It: The user can "absorb" themselves into a plant, turning themselves into energy and hiding within. Remaining one with the foliage for more than half an hour will often result in the user's metabolism and thoughts slowing, making it increasingly difficult to take physical form again.

Spell Name: Earth Eyes
Element: Earth
Intensity Level: High
Spell Type: Detection
Describe It: By pressing themselves to stone or soil and shutting their eyes, the user can enter a trancelike state. They can use this power to project their consciousness through the stone, sensing far beyond their body. Most senses are dulled through the rock, aside from touch, which is magnified, allowing users to feel other creatures as they travel the tunnels, and sight, which is unchanged. Focusing on a certain area is difficult, but useful for scouting or spying.

Element: Earth
Intensity Level: Medium
Spell Type: Offensive
Describe It: The user pulls sand particles from the soil around them and forms them into small shards of glass, which can then be formed into a slicing whirlwind.

Spell Name: Projection
Element: Arcane
Intensity Level: High
Spell Type: Transformation
Describe It: This spell can be used to turn the user into a spirit form of themselves. They can travel from their body to explore their surroundings. This can also be used to enter another's dreams to speak with them whilst they rest. The user's body is left vulnerable and if it is killed while this spell is in use their spirit will never rest. Excessive use of this spell can result in the target becoming distant and lost in the spirit realm.

Spell Name: Flight
Element: Arcane
Intensity Level: Medium
Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: Using the powers of arcane the user can take hold of their own bodies and lift themselves off the ground to fly or to float. The more practice you have with this spell and the higher mastery you are the longer and higher you can float from the ground.

Spell Name: Greater Empathy
Element: Animal
Intensity Level: High
Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: The user can not only experience what the target is feeling but they can manipulate the pheromones in their bodies as well as their target's bodies to their liking. The result is the emotions of their target being changed to their liking. An inexperienced user's target may recognize that their emotions are being manipulated and might be able to react accordingly. Excessive use of this magic will result in dissociative emotions.

Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: The user can heat up the molecules in water of the environment or that of a target to that of a boil or just lukewarm if they prefer. The user must be careful not to accidentally heat up the water in their own bodies

Spell Name: Transportation
Element: Arcane
Intensity Level: Medium
Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: The user can transport themselves from on place to another using their magic. One must concentrate completely on the task or else they risk embedding themselves in a wall or some other thing or place they don't want to be. The further one wants to transport themselves the more focus is required.

Spell Name: Chemical Sense
Element: Pressure
Intensity Level: Low Intensity
Spell Type: Detection
Describe It: The user draws in a little part of the atmosphere to detect what chemicals are in it, albeit Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Nitrogen. This can also be used to detect the scents and pheromones of other creatures, but only practiced users are capable of this.

Spell Name: Parasite
Element: Prokaryote
Intensity Level: High
Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: Drawing in bacteria from all around, one will begin to construct a parasite within their body. It is uncontrollable what parasite they will generate, but they can be disposed of via vomiting, fecal matter, urination, etc. After they are removed from the host body, they often like to multiply by entering other hosts. Beware.

Element: Light
Intensity Level: Low
Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: Allows the user to split photons into their corresponding wavelengths to create a rainbow or otherwise split up light into the different colors that it is composed of. Similarly, it can focus a light source into a narrow beam, creating a harmless but focused laser.

Element: Water :water:
Intensity Level: Low or Medium
Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: The user is able to turn the water molecules in the room into a foggy cloud, creating a thick mist that can be used for cover or just for fun. The water can ether be from the user them self or from a surrounding resource. If failed dehydration could occur as well as a headache.

Spell Name: Quick Step
Element: Animal :animal:
Intensity Level: High
Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: With heavy consideration, the user can focus on giving the muscles in their limbs an extra oomph to run at a greater speed. This spell almost always leaves the user exhausted, very hungry and weak in the limbs if not practiced. A failed spell could cause damage to the muscle tissue or extreme muscle spasms.

Spell Name: Wall of Flame
Element: Fire :fire:
Intensity Level: Medium
Spell Type: Defense
Describe It: This spell is meant to be used as a shield, protecting themselves from an oncoming attack. Summoning as much fire they can, creating a wall of flame or blockade before them. This can also be used to control preexisting fire to keep it under control. Can result in burns of the fire is held to close to someone near the wall.

Spell Name: Meat Digestion
Element: Animal :animal:
Intensity Level: Medium
Spell Type: Transformation
Description: Intensity Transformation. The user's body is altered to produce enzymes capable of breaking down protein from meat from another living creature, such that when the user eats meat, they can digest it more effectively. This is a useful spell for herbivores.

Spell Name: Corpse
Element: Prokaryote
Intensity Level: Medium
Spell Type: Offensive
Describe It: Drains energy from all the bacteria and cells within one's body in order to give strength to a second bacterial attack. This may cause the user to lose condition physically often stripping their muscles of mass if used for extended periods of time or frequently. Repeated use of this spell within a short space of time may reduce the muscles to a point of never regaining condition.

Spell Name: Water sense
Element: Water
Intensity Level: Medium/ high
Spell Type: Detection
Describe It: By touching water, the host can "reach out" and sense other things in the water such as other organisms. Still water requires high concentration to permeate large areas, though low levels in smaller pools. Still water makes it easy to determine location around the host as well as some conditions about objects. Running water is easier to permeate, but takes high concentration to pull oneself back from the flow of information. Running water makes it easy to determine distance from the host as well as size and movement of the object. If not careful, one can lull to sleep in still water while in moving water, it is possible to literally have ones consciousness pulled away by the flow of water. Both are dangerous because of the body having to be in contact with water while in this state and possibly becoming unconscious.

Spell Name: Filter/ Absorb Nutrients
Element: Water (could also be used in plant, animal, or earth in different forms. Is there a general category?)
Intensity Level: Medium
Spell Type: Manipulation
Describe It: Creature is able to filter nutrients into the body using water in or out of their digestion. For instance, a gembound may suck the nutrients from a plant into their own body, or from the ground using the plant as a tap (this could use either plant or water magic). Earth gembounds may be able to take minerals and nutrients right from rocks, or, more easily, mud. It could be adapted to lots of things to make eating easier if they wanted to.
