AGE OF ADVERSITY
Before the rise of the Subtle Arts, a rare anomaly appeared in the race of equines—the T'eorx. They were the living embodiment of the age when magic was so pure that it drifted upon the wind, unhindered and unbridled. They were rarely seen in pure form, but occasionally signs would appear in normal bloodlines: in their eyes, markings, build. Pure T'eorx were believed to be of a religious nature, but they were feared, as their gifts were often instinctive and wild. When they began to appear, primarily in royal bloodlines, the pure-blooded mares were banned from breeding. Their powers, more powerful than any male’s, awakened only after childbirth.
A pure T'eorx mare was born close to the end of the Age of Affluence: Isda. The Age of Affluence died swiftly when the brothers of the Feonix Isles, Ashymr and Sindmyr, invaded Avallon. The twins were each other's reflection; Ashymr was the sword hand, the bloodletter, the murderer, and Sindmyr was the scholar, the tactician, the cunning snake. The royal brothers were victorious as they slaughtered the leaders of Avallon, while Isda, the last pure T’eorx to be born in the Age of Affluence and too young to see battle, remained in the palaces in Eo'Mar. When the two brothers finally approached the gates of Eo'Mar, they were met by surrender. The fall of the last T'eorx was imminent.
Weeks passed as the brothers celebrated the conquering of the Avallon Kingdom before their attention turned to the last T'eorx. Her beauty was undeniable, but her alien ways were unsettling. The brothers discussed killing Isda, for her death would bring an end to the remnants of the old Empire, but the residents of Avallon threatened revolt should Isda die. Moons passed, and Isda taught the brothers the way of Avallon, the old culture and the T'eorx, and in turn her influence grew. As the anniversary of the fall of Avallon grew nearer, the twins’ lust for Isda grow. Their greed ushered forth the frantic approach of the Age of Affliction.
AGE OF AFFLICTION
Despite the last T'eorx remaining alive, the Avallon Kingdom was peaceful. Isda's personal interest began to consume her as she sought the affections of the twins. Both twins wanted Isda for themselves, unwilling to let her go to the other, and in realizing this, both brothers refused each other's companionship and grew more resentful of one another each day. One evening the brothers’ fury burst upon the plains outside of Eo'Mar, and a fierce battle was fought. Isda watched in horror as the two males she loved fought for her affections. It was a fight she would lose no matter the outcome.
The might of the magic that the brothers wrought on the world split the land in half, devouring the souls of those within the city and turning their bodies to ash while the skies turned dark and the heavens waged war upon the earth. Meteorites plunged into the ground and wiped away all that remained of Eo'Mar until finally one of the brothers overpowered the other. In the last moments before the final blow Isda made her choice, her words ringing clear as she warped herself into the path of the final blow.
The last of the T'eorx died at the hands of the twins, her final moments silent and unforgiving as her light faded away. Stricken with grief, the brothers parted, the land devastated and desolate. In her last moments, Isda's fallen tears and blood created a life form that blossomed and bloomed despite the destruction of her city and people. The Mother Tree grew strong with pure white veins lacing through her core, while her leaves never fell despite cold winter months and lonely nights. The twins disappeared into their own realms, the Mother Tree separating them and dissipating the malicious magic that the twins had wrought on the old empire of Avallon.
AGE OF CONCILIATION
Centuries passed after the fall of the last T'eorx and the old empire. The ancient kingdom’s name was forgotten, and only the name 'Oblivion' remained. Province was rebuilt to become a sanctuary for those wishing to be neutral, while each twin’s realm blossomed. Between them, the Mother Tree and her story slipped into Legend, and the T'eorx became merely a tale to tell children before bedtime.
