I think I figured it out

Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: Humans and Animals.
One day, war broke out between the two races.
After a long battle, the humans were victorious.
They sealed the Animals underground with a magic spell.
Many years later...
Origin Cave

Legend say those who hatch in the cave never go out.

Origin started out a long time ago in an alternate universe in which a plague killed off humans and most animals in the medieval ages.(Easter of 2018 event lore) However, a few animals from most species fled to an underground cave beneath a mountain. They survived for a while, but slowly they began to die off, the caves not a suitable habitat for life. Some animals tried to escape, only to die from exhaustion on their way back to the surface. Some made it to where the entrance should have been, only to realize that there had been a landslide and they were stuck in the caves.

The animals were all dying, but some ventured deeper into the caves. There, they found the Sire, and once they got too close they mutated, gems that were scattered around the Spire flying into the animal's bodies and fueling their life with magick and sentience. The animals realized that they had left their friends closer to the entrance, and they returned to the remnants. The remaining animals took the bones of their fallen and returned to what would be called Canis, leaving their friend's remnants there.

Slowly, the realized that if they were to survive, they'd need more of them. They retrieved bones from Canis and brought them to the Spire, which infused them with life and gems. (How Origin got so diverse) As time went on, the magick of the Spire had provided more life to the caves, creating habitats suitable for all kinds of creatures. Some creatures, the oldest ones, still wanted to return to their home, the surface. But when they looked for the exit of Origin, they couldn't find it. Rockslides, or the magick that was in the caves, had sealed them in the rock of the mountain, to be forever stuck away from the place they once called home.

My theory is likely to evolve and change as we uncover more lore

I have very loose speculations:

I believe Origin caves is/was some kind of experiment or the early developments of a plan that was meant to be taken further. The caves/plans were needed because of a catastrophic event on "the surface", though I'm not sure if it was magic, sickness and/or war.

There have been references to 'many other creatures' in lore threads, so either Humans or other intelligent species (aliens) are on or were on this "planet". I do assume that Origin is under the surface or within the confines of a planet.

I'm not entirely certain that magicka is natural to the planet. If it is, it seems to be an unstable energy source, kind of like the weather. And the only reason it's "controlled" in the caves is because of the Spire, the Gembounds & NPCs harness it.

So y'all! I just had an amazing realization/speculation idea! Though now that I thought it, it seems obvious so maybe I'm just behind, lol.

What if the different caverns relate to the different types of magicka?

Like canis is filled with bones, so that might fit for animal. Eridanus is filled with plants. Monoceros has the wind tunnel. You could even kinda get some of the other.

Now, there's currently only 8 big caverns but 12 types of Magicka, but maybe not all the rooms where discovered? I hear that some of the current caverns were discovered along the way. What if there's 4 more to discover?
