Nemean looked between the lot of them as they started to speak among themselves. Another creature arrived, reporting that the lights were off elsewhere. That was what she had figured. In fact, it seemed a little obvious from the fact that the generator wasn't working at all, and Nemean knew for a fact that it was what powered the lights. She rubbed her chin and crossed her legs one over the other, listening as the strange albino mammal tried to explain and the dragon dismissed him, then a bird arrived, asking if they could move the wheel. "Oh honey," Nemean sighed, jumped back to her feet atop the stone, "you'd run yourself ragged trying to power the generator by hand! But I might have a solution."

She placed her hands on her hips and snapped her fingers, producing a large, glistening illusion of a gloved hand that mimicked the gestures of her right hand, pointing enthusiastically at everything. "I think I know how to fix the wheel," Nemean said, tapping on her chin; the large illusion held up a finger as if in revelation. "Unfortunately, seems that's not all that's wrong with this here generator," she tapped on it with her foot.

Nemean fluttered down to the side of the generator, uncovering a panel caked with dust. She grabbed the handle and braced her feet against the side, pulling with all her might to pry it open as the illusory hand fruitlessly grabbed the handle above her head. Both she and the hand seemed to have trouble before she finally cracked it open with a loud creak. The hand manifested an object akin to a primitive flashlight and hovered above, shining a bright light on the panel as Nemean hopped inside its innards, banging around. "Hmm, yup, just as I thought!" she said as she tossed some old stones over her shoulder out onto the ground. "Y'see, the generator's power source is running dry too. These stones used to give it the magic it needed to make electricity, like big ol' batteries! But I think they're on their last legs."

She fluttered out of the panel shut it tight, then picked up one of the old stones. Surprisingly, they didn't look too dusty, and no magic seemed to be emanating from them. "I'm gonna need some more of these too! Gembound stones," Nemean clarified.

The hand swooped under her and appeared to carry her back to the top of the generator despite the buzzing of her wings. Reclaiming her spot on top of the stone, she sat with her legs crossed again. "So long as y'all might be willin' to help, I think I can get this generator up and running again. But I'm gonna need y'all to collect these supplies for me, since I'm just too dang small to fetch 'em myself!" She blinked. "I'm gonna need you and you," Nemean pointed at Baratheon and White, "to run on over to Eridanus and Orion and grab me some ropes and sticks, kay?" she smiled, and the hand pantomimed walking with two of its fingers. "Now you, and you," Nemean then gestured to Albeon and Yuma, "think you can find me some Gembound stones? Now now, don't go pryin' them outta peoples' chests. I just need some old dusty ones."

Then Nemean turned around and pointed at the weredolphin in the water. "You, big fella, and you," then she pointed at Quintus, "I'm gonna need you two strong boys to find me a little someone named Batcat. Oh, he's pretty easy to find, he lives over in Orion. Reason I need him is he sees pretty well in the dark, and we're gonna need to restore little shards of magic-charged gemstones to all the electrical boxes the generator connects to! That way we should be good for light for oh, I'd say, another ten thousand years," she grinned and the hand gave a thumbs up. "Think y'all can handle this for me? If y'all help me out, I think I'd be willing to part with this here prize I've dug up." Nemean patted the stone underneath her.

Baratheon & White will need to complete 2 threads in Eridanus and Orion collecting ropes and sticks.

Albeon & Yuma will need to complete 1 thread in any room harvesting old gemstones (these cannot be kept and revived).

Saosin & Quintus will need to complete 1 thread in Orion searching for and retrieving Batcat.

The hybrid pushed himself up against the shore and listened with only mild interest as the sprite began to enthusiastically explain the problem with the generator and how they could fix it. Saosin wasn't so sure he even cared about fixing it. Was it really so bad to be left in the darkness? He huffed as she assigned him to another creature, a large feline lookin' thing, fixing his blue eyes on the stranger. Worse, they had to go to some place without water to find a creature named Batcat which honestly didn't sound very promising. He made a face at her, but the sprite had moved on and now, she dangled the prize of a stone above their heads in exchange for helping.

Saosin didn't care about the stone. He hardly cared about helping. But... maybe this could... alleviate his boredom, if only slightly. He splashed back in the water and paddled a little further up. "Hey, Orion, you ever been there?" he called to the lion. "I have no idea where to find this Batcat guy, but my brother Khori might be able to help us. Let's meet there?" Saosin suggested.

But he didn't wait long. There was no chance he was going to do this without his brother there to back him up in case anything happened. Saosin lingered long enough for a reply, if Quintus would even give him one, then splashed back into the river to fetch his brother.

Polaris, being the Room of Lights, was of course, the first place to start when it came to investigating how and why the caves had gone dark. And so, as soon as Gabriel reached this cave, it began to explore the many corners it had not previously paid much heed to. Of those corners was the strange, creaking contraption it had noted from time to time, but never lingered at. Part of the reason being the hulking rock giants that always seemed to roam here. Gabriel had resolved to keep its distance and observe them from afar until it better understood what they were.

But on this occasion, Gabriel was alerted to the sound of voices. of these, one was familiar, whereas others were completely new. Curiosity piqued as to why there were so many gathered in one place, the pup had approached, head held low and ears pricked, until it was barely within earshot and could listen to the events as they unfolded.

This was why the lights went out, the dog soon gathered from their conversation... or at least the words of one, who seemed far more knowledgeable. Finding answers had turned out to be easier than Gabriel could have anticipated, but these answers only seemed to create more questions. The more it listened, the more there was to know.

It seemed that there would be much to report to Tacitus the next time they met, and that there was far more potential in fallen gems than was immediately apparent. The world was only growing more complex by the day but at the same time, far more fascinating.

The odd little glowing creature, with its elaborate tricks, directed different parties to different areas of the cave, each with a different task in mind. Gabriel smirked slightly. What's more, there was a gem at stake. Gabriel could very easily make use of that... Keeping out of earshot, Gabriel considered its plan of action. The pup knew that its next move would have to be to either join one of the parties at hand, or go on a search itself. Gabriel knew exactly where they would be able to find plenty of dusty stones; and that was amidst the bones of Canis. To top that off, one of their party was a face that Gabriel recognized from not long ago. Not an allied face, but a familiar one nontheless.

That settled it- when the stone-searching party left, Gabriel would be joining them. Perhaps not immediately visible, but it would be there.

Yuma

Yuma watched with great interest as the strange fae-like creature summoned a floating appendage and started tearing open the heart of the caves. Some of her words were strange, incomprehensible. Technical perhaps? Whatever she was talking about a plan was definitely forming, one that involved everyone around.

He wasn't sure what to think though about needing gembound stones but not pulling them out of people. Wouldn't that have been the best way of making sure they were fresh and suitable? Half the others present here looked like they would have gems big enough to power the generator for ages, especially that behemoth. Then again, perhaps they needed the stones to have had a chance to cool down or something before they would be usable.

"I will do as you ask." Yuma spoke with a bow of his head and an emotionless expression. It would be a scavenger hunt! He just had to go search through dead things until he found as many gems as he could carry and bring them back here.

"Bird." he addressed, turning his unblinking eyes toward Albeon. "If stones from the living aren't good enough we should go to the room of corpses next to the city of ruin. Will you join me... or do you know somewhere else where we might find a fallen one?"

More gems came, more theories were spoken but the only one who truly seemed to know what was going on was the strange fairy-like creature atop the generator. Before long she gave instructions on what to do, in them she paired the white dragon with the smaller white dog creature. With a nod of his head Baratheon looked back at the small white creature and spoke, "I suppose that we should work together to get this done. Come, sticks and ropes shouldn't be hard to come across." He didn't know if she would want to go together or go separately but either way they should leave Polaris, too many gems and too many sounds. They would be able to plan more easily elsewhere and hopefully they would not be in darkness for too much longer.

"Talking looks like this!"
Thinking looks like this...
White stared on quietly, eyes wide and ears standing sharply upwards. The things that the little cat-creature were saying made... absolutely no sense, at least to her.

She didn't know what a 'wheel,' or a 'battery' was. For that matter - she didn't know what a generator was either, but regardless, she initially stepped forward to offer help to the little glowing creature as it attempted to pry open the door - a few seconds too late, it seemed, as the door burst open and stones began promptly spewing out of the hole in the ground.

As White quickly backed off (in order not to be hit by anything of course) she looked between Nemean and the dragon as her tiny little claws pointed to him, and then to her. She felt her heart sink somewhat - he was bigger, older, and just overall scarier.

A small pink tongue dipped out of her maw as she licked her nose, paying the other creatures no mind as the dragon spoke. He was right-- though, as it happened, she didn't know what a rope was.

"Uh, yeah," the bird-dog hybrid nodded quickly, padding closer to the white dragon with her talons clipping noisily against the ground. "Eridanus is probably closer. We can find all sorts of sticks in there and then head to Orion for- rope?"

Her eyes darted between the floor and Baratheon as she thought quietly to herself - she had no idea what to expect, but the tunnel leading out of Orion had all kinds of glittery junk in it. Nemean, however, did say to check Orion itself - no tunnels. She shrugged it off, feathers rustling as she followed the furry dragon out of Polaris.

Yeah... He somewhat suspected that all he'll get from attempting to turn the generator by hand is fatigue, although his idea was really using Phantom Hold on it. Never planned to do it with muscle he knew that there's no way muscle would work on it, still a powerful Spell like Phantom Hold can be tiring to use itself so... Good thing this here sprite being has a plan themselves that sounds like a permanent one, because even if all he would've gotten was fatigue he still would've done it, a chance to show to these many Gembounds his skills of sorts and some form of desperation to be of help.

Whoa... That's pretty damn new... He doesn't believe he has ever seen another being using this kind of power to summon a large holographic, disembodied hand. Who exactly this is sprite thing, is that power only something they possess? Watching in silent fascination at this here sprite's motions move in sync with this large hand and watching her tear open the large panel with ease, he listens intently to what she has to say to take immediate action in resolving all of this.

Wait... It's old stones that powered this thing? Really not sure what to make of that honestly. And what luck had it that he gets assigned to do that particular task for the generator... Well, sounds like the kind of stones needed are ones that have died such a long time ago that it seems kind of a bad idea to revive them now, besides like she said she doesn't want Albeon and this other one... Who's to say seems rather weird and dare say creepy; going around murdering others to get resources. Which is good he hates killing.

With all this mind, he silently nods in agreement to the task he has been assigned. Quietly turning over to his assigned partner who called out to him whose expression appears to be in stasis, when he turned around, he was sure for a brief second that he saw something else sort of familiar looking pink from the corner of his eye? Unflinching eye contact to this aye-aye in spite of that rather disturbing look they have. When the term 'room of corpses' was said Albeon knew right away that they were referring to Canis: his birthplace. Hoo boy... Of all places. Still, that fortress he took refuge in where and found his scarf probably has lots of old stones buried in it that they could use.

"Sure I'll come along. Canis right? If so, then no other area I can bring to mind that'll be a better option that place." Keeping his tone neutral towards them, ready to go, the quicker they achieve this the sooner the future where the lights are once again on will come, that's all that should matter now.

Yuma

Like the lids of old dusty coffers Yuma's eyes closed, only to open again with the same awkward slowness a second later. A grin inched its way across his face, perhaps a little bit too wide, perhaps showing a bit too much of his rat-like teeth, but a real expression nonetheless. He was getting good at showing facial reactions! Nothing unnatural about his non-verbal communication skills at all. If bird was going to be his partner as they searched for the calcified souls of the lost they would need to be on good terms.

"I will meet bird there then. Follow the scent of decay and look for piles of grey meat. That will lead to some of my craft projects. Many old bones around there, perhaps some stones as well."

Without waiting for a reply the little creature turned and dashed away into the darkness, not even using his eyes at first as he knew the path by heart. A scavenger hunt! This would be such a fun way to pass the time as life drained from the cave. Yuma even had an idea of how to carry all the gems; he'd just have to deconstruct one of his craft projects and get the cave deer head out of its canvas bag. A bit of a shame, but art was a transient thing anyways.

Gabriel's ears twitched to alertness as it listened to the conversation murmuring through the other Gembounds and most importantly, its 'teammates'. Luckily, they shared its intuition that Canis would be the best place to go for a lost stone or two. A smirk toyed across its muzzle briefly, and for an instant Gabriel thought it had caught the eye of the raven...

That didn't worry the dog, however- so long as it wasn't doing anything controversial amongst the emotional, then it wouldn't need to worry. But... perhaps lingering here unobtrusively, simply listening to the happenings, would be offensive to some? Probably. Emotion was truly unpredictable.

One of the other beings quickly departed, disappearing off into Polaris somewhere, presumably to Canis. The bird had not yet followed, but Gabriel knew that it wouldn't be long until it saw the two of them once more.

Without a flicker of doubt in its eyes, the pup rose to its paws and then quietly padded away, following the familiar track towards Canis, one it had trodden many times before.

Watching the aye-aye's silent response to the slow sudden shift in facial expression, for agreeing to come along and help out Albeon can't help but dart his eyes to the side with that he catches the blur of pink again for a brief moment but still paying nothing of it, sweating a little too feeling rather uncomfortable at this here Gembound's mannerism. Is there- uh... Something wrong with this guy's facial muscles? He feels like he needs some exposition as to what's going with this guy here, but really, there's no time for that he's already learned that running his mouth out loud too often gets him in trouble, not that he'll tell a lie though. Whatever letting himself relax again a little deciding to let the aye-aye continue with the plan they have in mind for their search.

'Meet there'? Guess they're letting Albeon show up at his own pace, then, still this is Canis we're talking about, that place is practically some battlefield graveyard as he remembers it, the smell of decay in that place is nauseously heavy and it permeates the whole entirety of the air in Canis. They're going to need to be more specific really.

Grey meat? Well, that's less vague and more specific, might be hard to find here in this darkness but he can work with that. He just hopes that this isn't some attempts at chicanery on him set up when he arrives at this meeting place.

Craft project? Whaa-? What the hell sort of 'craft projects' has this guy been making? Feeling strong disbelief at what he has gotten himself into now Albeon just can't help but bring a wing up to his eye, and rubs it along the bridge of his beak with a sigh while shaking his head, resisting the strong urge to groan and yell out a pained 'Whhhy' at what he is in right now.

Why must he be stuck with the weirdos?

When his 'teammate' went on ahead, he allows to collect himself once again, unlike his teammate Albeon is less than enthusiastic about all of this but he's just going to suck it up. That doesn't mean he's going to be all frisky about it though. Oh well... Phantom Hold will be a good chance of finding Gems that are buried under all the bones in there, same for carrying all of them too.

He takes his leave now, taking his time somewhat since even though Canis is his birthplace the last time he was in Canis was basically when he did emerge, he never returned to it afterwards so finding it in this darkness may be tricky. He'll reach Canis though... Eventually...
