Imperia blinked in surprise as Aaliyah growled back. When she lifted her head, he stared straight at her, not expecting the glaring look from her orange eyes. When she leaped at him, he let out a yelp as he came crashing down, feeling one of her paws on his throat. He stared up at her in shock before quickly changing his expression to that of mild concern. What was she doing? As she spoke, his question was answered. The words seem to resonate in his mind. Leave him? How could she leave him? He had won the battle! She was supposed to stay!
He had done all he could, and she was still leaving? But...then he wouldn't get to see her! He wouldn't get to see his companion, his daughter, grow up more. Not that he ever really cared, as every time she grew, he only did more damage to her. But she had always been there with him, and now she was going to be gone? He'd never get to see her fight again, never get to see her kill. He'd never feel that weird feeling in his chest, a feeling he had never put a name to. But staring up at her, feeling her holding him down and speaking with such a passion, he realized what it was. Pride.
He was proud of her. She had come so far, from a naïve, stupid little child to this. A full grown, strong adult, who could easily pin him, even though he had been caught off guard. She had grown throughout the cycles, from a small little kitten with too long of a tail, to filling out her features nicely, with a lengthy, lithe body and a long tail. Her fur was covered in scars, all of which he had inflicted upon her. Nobody else could manage to scar her. She had a few patches, areas where some fur had been burned off, never to grow again. It all made him very proud, though he would never admit it.
He stared up at her for a moment longer as she glared at him. He opened his mouth and words seemed to just spill out. "Aaliyah, dear...why must you leave? I will miss you greatly, you know I will. And I know I'll miss you. We've hardly been apart! Are you sure you can handle it? You've been with me your whole life, after all." He grinned at her.
"Are you sure you want to leave so soon, without any warning? How about we stay together, just a little longer. I have to make sure you're ready to take on the world by yourself! I'd be a terrible parent if I let you go and take on the world, without any warning! Why don't you get off of me, and we can resolve this like the adults we are?"
"Speech looks like this."
"Thoughts looks like this."
