Aaliyah growled as she felt Imperia dig her head even further into the ground. She was beginning to give up - she would never win, and she was starting to get tired. The new scar on her cheek was starting to hurt more, and her older scars weren't any better either. She grew still for a moment, saving her breath. She listened to Imperia ramble on, and the words seemed to bring strength into her tired limbs. With a yowl, she attempted to get him off of her. But no matter how much she struggled, she couldn't seem to get the weight of the bigger cat off of her. With a sigh, she slumped down and accepted defeat...At least for the time being.

Imperia grinned as Aaliyah struggled, only to eventually fall still, breathing hard. He chuckled. He watched for a moment, not saying anything. It was quiet, save for Aaliyah's ragged breaths and the waterfall nearby. "So you've given up." It wasn't a question, but rather, a statement. It was obvious she had given up, which only brought the satisfaction of victory to him. He kept his paw on her head.

"I don't know why you thought you had a chance. I've fought more than you. I'm older than you. I clearly had the advantage! And yet you still fought me. I don't know if you're a fool or brave. Maybe both?" He paused for a moment. "Actually, I think you're just a fool. A fool who thinks she can make a difference by standing up to me. Well guess what, sweetie, you fucked up." His pink claws were out, beginning to dig into her head.

"I won't kill you, because you'll still have use to me. But I will treat you less. You've messed up everything good in your life. As soon as we're done here, I'm going to make you kill. And you will, or else you will regret it greatly. I would advise you do as I say without fail. Get up." With that, he took his paw off of her head. He could see beads of blood, but it wasn't too much. He took a step back and stared at her. When she didn't move, didn't get up, he growled. "I said get up!"

Aaliyah didn't say anything. She had given up, and it was clearly obvious. She was tired and in pain, and she had failed. She had failed to leave her parent, the one whom she was starting to hate so, so much. As Imperia began to talk, the feeling only grew. She thought about all that they had ever done to her. Training, fighting, forcing her to kill. It felt like her blood was boiling with anger the more he talked.

She grunted at one point. Treat her less? Was that even possible? She was already treated as though she were nothing! Just someone Imperia could throw around. What could possibly be worse than that? As he continued talking, the feeling of anger only grew more and more. She had to do something. It wasn't like she had anything to lose! All she had has been lost. Her will to live, to stand against Imperia. It was all crushed the moment she failed to get out from under him.

When he told her to get up, she stayed. She had gained a tiny inkling of hope. Maybe, now when he wasn't expecting it, she could attack? The inkling only grew as he stepped off of her and backed away. When he growled, she growled back and lifted her head, staring at him with fiery orange eyes. Her claws were digging into the ground, and without hesitation she leaped at Imperia.

She was able to pin him effortlessly, having effectively surprised him. One paw was on his throat, the other on his stomach. She bared her teeth at him. "Listen, Imperia. I will not stand by your side any longer! You may have won this battle, but you have not kept the right to keep me by you. You never had that right! You may be my parent, but I will never stand by your side again. You have tricked me into believing your lies. You want everyone to fear you? Fine. Everyone but me will fear you, and I will make sure no one gets caught in your lies." Aaliyah paused, her long tail flicking behind her, eyes narrowed to slits.

"I will go against you for the rest of my life. We are done. I hope I never see your stupid face again." Her claws were out, pressing lightly against his throat. It wasn't deep enough that blood would show up, but it got the message across. If Imperia so much as moved the wrong way, she wouldn't hesitate to gravely injure him right then and there. Hell, maybe she'd even kill him. There was only one way to find out, and she was sure Imperia would not want to take that chance.

Imperia blinked in surprise as Aaliyah growled back. When she lifted her head, he stared straight at her, not expecting the glaring look from her orange eyes. When she leaped at him, he let out a yelp as he came crashing down, feeling one of her paws on his throat. He stared up at her in shock before quickly changing his expression to that of mild concern. What was she doing? As she spoke, his question was answered. The words seem to resonate in his mind. Leave him? How could she leave him? He had won the battle! She was supposed to stay!

He had done all he could, and she was still leaving? But...then he wouldn't get to see her! He wouldn't get to see his companion, his daughter, grow up more. Not that he ever really cared, as every time she grew, he only did more damage to her. But she had always been there with him, and now she was going to be gone? He'd never get to see her fight again, never get to see her kill. He'd never feel that weird feeling in his chest, a feeling he had never put a name to. But staring up at her, feeling her holding him down and speaking with such a passion, he realized what it was. Pride.

He was proud of her. She had come so far, from a naïve, stupid little child to this. A full grown, strong adult, who could easily pin him, even though he had been caught off guard. She had grown throughout the cycles, from a small little kitten with too long of a tail, to filling out her features nicely, with a lengthy, lithe body and a long tail. Her fur was covered in scars, all of which he had inflicted upon her. Nobody else could manage to scar her. She had a few patches, areas where some fur had been burned off, never to grow again. It all made him very proud, though he would never admit it.

He stared up at her for a moment longer as she glared at him. He opened his mouth and words seemed to just spill out. "Aaliyah, dear...why must you leave? I will miss you greatly, you know I will. And I know I'll miss you. We've hardly been apart! Are you sure you can handle it? You've been with me your whole life, after all." He grinned at her.

"Are you sure you want to leave so soon, without any warning? How about we stay together, just a little longer. I have to make sure you're ready to take on the world by yourself! I'd be a terrible parent if I let you go and take on the world, without any warning! Why don't you get off of me, and we can resolve this like the adults we are?"

Aaliyah waited for Imperia to say something. She was glaring at him, waiting to see what he would do. His mouth opened, and she found herself surprised at the speed in which the words came out. As he spoke, she became increasingly annoyed with him. Each word just made her hate him even more, if such a thing were possible. Each word only seemed as though it were said to insult her.

"You already are a terrible parent," she spat out at him. "If everyone else can take the world on themselves, I'm sure I can too. I've lived 6 cycles with you; I'm sure I can live through whatever else life has. I will not miss you. I will rejoice when you are gone. I will finally be free." Her tail flicked.

She loosened her grip on Imperia, but still did not back away. She would wait, see what he did. If he gave up, and let her go, she will let go of him. But if he still tried to get her to stay, she may have to do a little more to convince him to let her go. She'd do whatever it took. If that meant killing her parent, so be it. She'd do it, with little hesitation.

Imperia chuckled. "Me? A terrible parent? I'm surprised you could accuse me of such a thing!" He grunted as she continued speaking. "Oh please, you act as though I kidnapped you. You are my daughter. Why wouldn't I want you to stick around for a while later?" He stared up at her a while longer as her grip loosened.

He thought about whether or not he should let her go. He really didn't want to. She had always been with him! What would it be like without her? He blinked. Was he getting attached? Maybe he should let her go. This couldn't end well, after all. Besides, if she hadn't been here, he could have already made lots of gembounds fear him! She was only dragging him down, since he had to train her. And now she didn't even want to do what he did. She was against killing, and all he wanted to do was kill. If he let her go, he could kill freely and she couldn't stop him! He gave a wicked grin.

"I have come to my decision. I will let you go. However, if I see you again, I will not treat you lightly."

Aaliyah flicked her tail in annoyance. "Oh, I'm sorry. Does abusing someone, even when they were just a child, not count as being a terrible parent? My mistake." She grunted, but said nothing more. When Imperia fell silent, she could tell they were thinking. Her chest hurt, worried that he wouldn't let her go. She waited with bated breath, waited to see if they would free her. When she spoke, it felt as though her heart stopped. And the words they said...

She was shocked for a moment. She hadn't expected it to be this easy. She stood there for a moment, staring at him in surprise. Then she cleared her throat and backed away, letting him go. She stared at him for a moment, feeling as though she should say something, anything, but any words seemed to be lodged in her throat. She could hardly believe this was happening. She's free.

Imperia chuckled at Aaliyah's shock. It was clear she wasn't expecting this. When she got off of him, he quickly scrambled up and gave himself a little shake before staring down at her. She looked as though she were going to say something, but no words came out. After a moment of silence, he spoke instead. "I do mean what I said. If I see you again, I won't treat you well. I will fight you again, and I will win, just as I won this time. And I won't go easy on you. Just keep that in mind."

After some time, he spoke again. "And what about the stone? What do you plan on doing with it? I will happily take it, if you so wish." He didn't know what he would do with it, but he'd find something. Maybe give life to it? He could replace Aaliyah, find someone else to train and fight. But then it would be even longer until he could do whatever he wanted. Perhaps he could wait, wait until more feared him. Only time could tell, really. And there was no guarantee she'll even let him take it.

"Thoughts looks like this."

Aaliyah flicked an ear at Imperia's words. Not treat her lightly? He hardly ever did. "I'm sure I will manage. Hopefully that won't happen for a while yet." She paused. "If ever." She was hoping that after this, after she left, she wouldn't ever see Imperia again. She needed to be away from him, away from the pain he had caused her, away from the memories of what has happened.

She blinked. The stone...She had almost forgotten about it. In all honesty, she didn't want it. But could she trust Imperia with it? After a moment's thought, she came to a decision. "You may take it, after one condition." She fixed Imperia with a hard stare. "Promise me you will not give life to it. Do not make the creature suffer as I have. Do whatever you want with it. Hoard it, give it to someone else, I don't care. Just don't give life to it."

She didn't give him a chance to respond. With one last look, she dipped her head in farewell and turned away. She walked away slowly, though her paws itched to run. She didn't want to make it look as though she were scared of Imperia. She was free now! Nothing could stop her from doing anything! She didn't have to cower in fear when she was away from Imperia, much less than when she was with. She didn't have to ever find Imperia again. With her head high, she walked until she came across a tunnel entrance. She slipped in and walked to wherever it led her.
