ORIGIN - "What's magicka again?"

Aceus was walking in Orion by a bunch of chairs, "the forum" she remembered overhearing it be called. It may not be EXACTLY where she had emerged but it still had that same feeling of a home as over by The Cliffs, her birth place. Walking in Orion always left her in a cheery mood so she hummed as she walked enjoying the scent of the room. It smelled mostly musky and like rocks, but there was a slight hint of mint in the area. This minty scent made Aceus feel lonely.. This place reminded her of the wolf Az, he's so much fun to be around.. But he is always so busy these days it seems.

Aceus sighed suddenly wishing for company. She has met so few people since she emerged, it reminds her of how vulnerable she is and how few friends she has. It all makes her wonder if there are other creatures closer to herself. That cat she ran into with the wolf was similar.. But not the same as her.

The kitten sat curiously and began to growl angrily. Why is she so alone so often? She feels so different right now. She really needs to make some more friends. Find someone to Accompany her and show her some real fun.

There was an element of comfort, Kin-Kin realized, to being able to assign a sense of permanence to the creatures around you. Kin-Kin was the type to wander, going as she pleased, and never staying in one place for very long. This lifestyle meant that creatures she met rarely stuck around; most of them in fact, she never saw again after their first meeting. But for some reason, recent events had caused her to crave someone a bit more... permanent. A proper friend, someone to trim the edges off of her near-constant boredom as she waited just to happen upon another gembound.

Raising her muzzle, Kin-Kin sniffed, wondering if anyone else had passed by this way recently. Aside from stale scents and the ever-lingering whiff of stony abandonment, there was one scent that was fresh. They smelled young; freshly emerged from the chrysalis. Kin-Kin sighed slightly, but began to follow it anyway. Of course, talking to young ones was fun. Who else would be so easily riled or charmed? Gemlings were the perfect candidates for showing off anything new, and the perfect targets when she was in a mischievous mood. But nowadays... what was it all for? To spread her name? To look the part?

Bah.

Kin-Kin needed more of a purpose. A tiny smirk twinged at the side of her lip. What's that darned lizard started me on?

Kin-Kin's claws clicking on stone and her pelt bright in the darkness that the caves had plunged into, Kin-Kin wandered after the scent. The darkness ahead was thick; Kin-Kin might have ended up tripping over the kid if she wasn't careful. So instead, Kin-Kin focused on the glow that radiated from her form, and pulled it out onto the air, reforming it into an orb that hung over her head.

Ahead of her, she scanned the terrain and the wolf slowly followed after the bobbing orb of light, until finally she stopped, her orb hanging in place over a small, white tiger cub.

Aceus stopped growling when she saw the light, it was much brighter than what she was used to, she squinted in a supercilious way at the light, it was not an enjoyable sight at all. She growled again louder this time, "Would you put that damn thing out?

She could see a wolf like shape behind the light, although she could tell by the face that it was not a wolf. It was something similar but not quite the same. This shape had a bit of her wolf friend Astaroths scent, it was obvious they knew each other, realizing this caused her to stop growling and release her muscles. Usually anyone who know Ast, as far as she knew so far, has a tendency to be nice and not have wishes to hurt her.

"How did you even do that? Are you a friend of Az? She asked curious as usual.

"Ooh, someone's got a temper," Kin-Kin chuckled, slinking out of the darkness with her head lowered, a playful look in her eye. The light was fading anyway, slowly coming apart until it was merely a ripple in the air, and Kin-Kin was once more the only light in all of Orion, a beacon to lead the caves astray. Her fur shedding light, she looked at the white cub just outside of her little bubble.

They questioned her, and gave the cub a simple shrug, as though the bright light was an easy party trick. And for her, it was- there were spells out there far harder to master.

"Magic," she responded as they questioned her, waving the paw that was laden with creeping crystals in a grand motion. "As the magical champion, it bends to my will. I can do anything with magic."

She yawned. "Az? you mean Astaroth, right?" she caught their scent on the hide of this cub as well. "Yeah, the kid practically worships me. You can see why."

Aceus was glad that the light was mostly out although it seemed as if it were emanating off of the creature. Although she was confused by the thoughts of magic. "My apologies. I didn't mean to be snappy, you just shocked me and I was very deep in thought. Besides any friend of Astaroths is also a friend of mine." Magic... The word ran oddly through Aces brain. "What is magic exactly?"

Kin-Kin's tail swished at their words, a bemused look decorating her features. "'Sokay, Kiddo." There wasn't much else to say; they'd had quite the reaction to a little bit of light. The she-wolf stored that away for later, in case she needed to bother them. Her deep purple eyes looked over them, drinking in their words. "Well, I suppose that's good to know..."

The question they asked was an odd one; who didn't know what magic was?! She snorted as though it was an easy question, but then stopped... it was one that eveyone should have known, but one that was hard to answer. "Magic is just the way things work. There's magic in everyone and everything. and folks like me can make good use of it."

What was this wolf talking about? Magic in everyone? Even me? How did she not know this yet? These questions and many more swirled through the small tiger cub that was Aceus and she wanted to know everything. She wanted to know how to use it, how it worked. Who discovered it. Everything.
"Can you show me how? Just one spell?" She asked unable to resist the temptation.

Kin-Kin looked at the cub, tilting her head slightly to one side. "I dunno, kid," Kin-Kin drawled, voice dripping sarcasm and fake hesitation. Of course she'd use magic whenever she was given the chance; but she was allowed to have fun as well, wasn't she? "I mean... Not even a minute ago you were growling at me to put the lights out! now you want me to bring it back?"

Kin-Kin let a long silence reign between them as she looked at the cub. "Or, did I misunderstand? ...But of course, you did just see one spell! But ya turned it away and left me so shamed! What a ... disaster! guess that rules out anything else! No-more magic for the little tiger cub. -Sorry, I didn't get ya name."

She threw back her head dramatically.

The cub growled hearing the sarcasm lingering in Kin-Kin's voice. "I apologize.. You caught me off guard and scared me. Please? show me how to use magic?" Aceus said slightly aggravated but trying to hold it in, she didn't appreciate sarcasm one bit. It bugged the crap out of her to not know what someone truly meant or whatever their true intentions were.
"My name is Aceus, that is what I am called. I didn't catch you name either.. Please bring the light back? It is actually truly interesting, this magic you speak of that is."

Kin-Kin rolled her eyes and raised a paw to her muzzle, as though deeply considering. A long hum rose in her throat, one eye narrowing. It would be fun to drag his out just a little longer... for sure. this one seemed to be easily aggravated, but at the same time she didn't want them to storm off and find a... more tolerant magic user. Nope, she'd like it more if they only had eyes for her. Finally, Kin-Kin sighed as though finally giving in.

"I suppose I can show you the basics..." Kin-kin drawled, as though it were the hardest decision in the world but they'd somehow found a caveat in her defenses. "The simplest trick in the book. and then maybe if you're good, I can show you more." Kin-Kin grinned triumphantly.

Of course, what she was about to show them was easy, but also exceptionally beautiful. Closing her eyes, Kin-Kin tugged at the magic pouring from her fur, and with some effort tugged it into the right shapes. A few moments later, her light had begun to fragment and fracture, twisting into rainbows that almost seemed to dance around her.

Opening her eyes once more, she glanced at the cub and then winked, lifting her muzzle high.
