how come i've never seen your face round here?
i know every single face round here

Ah, so he saw. It did merely mean being companions with someone and spending time together. A strange way to say it but he understood. He nodded his head, signaling his understanding to her and that "yes" he would be, possibly, interested in spending time with her.

The canine went on to express her views on destiny and fate to which he let out a low rumbling chuckle. "Exactly, that is the beauty of fate. It can deal you a grand hand or it could bring you down into the deepest depths." He licked his fangs, sometimes he was the one that was able to bring others down into the depths. While he could be benevolent when he wanted he also enjoyed playing the devil and ripping others apart if the need arose. "You can only hope that destiny will make you great but even the greats cannot say when fate when raise them up or make them fall. You can only follow where you are lead." Gods could not always even accurately predict where fate would lead. They were all lead along a path and they were to follow where it went. Some were able to see along the path, to catch glimpses of the future or past but he was not one of those. He could only follow what signs he hoped the greaters were sending him. He gave a slight smirk at her little joke, finding it a bit amusing. "Or perhaps you have just never met another because destiny has not deemed it so."

He could tell that she was pleased with all that the told her and it made him happy that he was able to sway her to his side. She would learn, he would be happy to teach her all about the gods so that she could do them proud. "You would be surprised at who would squander such god-given talents. Wasteful. Is what it is." He licked his chops disdainfully, thinking of creatures that could have potential but chose to throw it away in non-belief. "Yes, a reward. You see this?" He gestured with one paw to the ruins of the city. "Methinks, the greater gods had a mission for me and mine sister. To restore this city to its former glory... but since mine sister sent you I believe you are to help me in her stead. Your reward, would be to rule this place and all that live here." He could only imagine how glorious it would be with the lights restored and the world chromatic once more. "My reward, to have the praise and the worship of our subjects. Power... Adoration... We could both have it..." There was hunger in his eyes and in his words as he laid out the idea for her. To have their own city, to have subjects and creatures that would adore them. He could already taste it.

Kin-Kin smiled at the nod of their head. "See? Ain't hard." the wolf responded, tail swishing beneath her cape as she turned her head to adjust it. A... 'demigod', had to look her best, right?

"Hmph. I wouldn't let even fate drag me down that low," she said, turning back towards the towering canid she faced. "No Gembound, god or predefined end'll ever do that to me. I won't let it, not whilst I'm still breathin'. Hah!" Kin-Kin let out a small snort in response to their words about not even the gods knowing their path until destiny caught up to them. She shrugged. "Just sayin', I think there's a few who'd prefer to go off the beaten track than follow. Bit of a weird analogy, but... I mean, I guess there could be a few things at play. I think perhaps fates can change... I know ya think fate rules all, but... that's my thoughts. Say, what if some Gembounds are fated to meet, and one of em takes a wrong turn, so they don't meet?" Kin-Kin's ears flickered as she thought, her deep purple gaze intently focused on Mosi as she continued to humour them... slowly learning their mindset, and adjusting her approach as their stance became more clear. Was that the way to do it?

I mean. You can't exactly prove it... can you? it'd been so long since Kin-Kin had genuinely put some thought into her words in a way that wasn't bent around being spectacular. She wondered to herself if it had really been so long since she'd had an intelligent conversation. Usually she found herself talking to either kids or hairbrains.

She was unable to resist a grin at their response to her joke. "Hah! ...On second thoughts, if there were more of me then I wouldn't be centre of attention anymore. ...I think there's enough of me in the caves already, aha!" Even if there wasn't enough of her, there was certainly enough of her ego to go around.

Their praise continued, with the 'God' continuing to praise her on the use of her magical talents. "Oh, yeah... I couldn't stand to see someone with magic like this and not use it. sickening," she agreed, pulling a face and showing her teeth to illustrate her feelings on the matter. Her ears, however, remained firmly pricked.

Turning around, Kin-Kin followed their gaze and blinked out towards the darkened city just barely illuminated by her glow beyond. She blinked, silent for a while. Are they serious? she wondered. They sure sounded serious on the matter. Her gaze flicked back to the larger creature for a second. Despite her doubts though, she couldn't help but consider what it'd be like. To rule over someone. To rule over many. She stopped to consider it, drinking in their words with a pinch of salt. Being a ruler? Kin-Kin couldn't care much less. Power? Kin-Kin didn't crave power. it was the thought of adoration that made her brows rise. Wasn't she adored already? ...that was the thing. She was, of course she was. But it wasn't anything permanent. She couldn't consistently see her... ahem... fans looking up to her, wishing for her attention. Wanting to be like her. Sure, they were out there, she was sure they were. But wandering around aimlessly so long had caused an ache in her heart as of late. She wanted someone there. She wanted someone to return to, or many to return to. A kingdom. The she-wolf unconsciously licked her lips.

"Hmmm... "

But, she doubted it would be so easy to return this... mess to its former glory. They'd need help, and a lot of it. Did Mosi want to return its previous inhabitants, or find new ones in the Gembounds that already lived here? ...She could be in on this, but she'd need to know their plan, first. How hard could it be? "...How would we do that?" the demigod asked.

Her confidence, he couldn't help but admire it. Here he was telling her the facts about fate and destiny and she decided she would try to make her own way. It was adorable how she thought she above it all. The canine-like creature smirked at her, amusement glittering in his four eyes. "Think as you will. I am only sharing the facts." If she wanted to believe she was the master of her own fate, let her. In time she would learn the true nature of things, if not by him telling her then by life itself showing her. "Then it is still fate. Perhaps the gembounds were meant not to meet and as such fate turned them away in the end." It made perfect sense to him. Destiny could not simply be explained away.

Mosi grinned, then laughed, at her words. It was a genuine thing and while gruff it echoed his amusement. "Then pray that no more demigods of light show up or you might have rivals for attention." The words rumbled out of his chest as he stared at her. Not only was she amusing but her views seemed to align somewhat with his own. At least in the terms of waste... and on the city. It seemed as if she were thinking on what he said as she turned to stare at the city.

He stepped up beside her as he stared at the dilapidated maze-like structures in the distance. "We must gather others to lend us their aid. Servants, followers, devotees... Once we gather gembounds to help get the city back to life the rest will follow." Certainly there would be those blessed with stonecrafting skills and others that would be able to help with getting everything together. "Just imagine it... This city filled with gembounds all looking up to and worshipping us." He wanted it. He wanted it all.

Zelena... Can you see us? We will rebuild this city just as you and I were going to do. Are you proud, sister?

"Heh... Facts or no facts, I still think ya gotta loosen up a little," Kin-Kin chuckled, only half joking in response to their words. either way, she didn't seem convinced; in her eyes, 'fate' was just another way of saying your life was meaningless. Which, if everything was predetermined from the start, it kinda was. What happened to the fun of choosing your own path and making your own way? " But they could just as easily decide to take the other path that way, and end up meeting, as well. I wasn't lead here by fate, I followed the sound of you breaking out. Why? 'Cause Gemlings love me."

Kin-Kin's ears twitched back towards Mosi, closely followed by her gaze- which had flicked back towards the sunken city. She grinned as they, too, decided to have a joke- at least she assumed it was a joke... They said that she'd have to pray that no other demigods of light showed up. To which she laughed, and waved a paw dismissively. "Hah! Let 'em come, but none will be me," she replied, the very tone of her voice a challenge. "No-one could even come close!" Her tail wagged proudly, and she placed her paw dramatically back onto the ground with a click of her claws.

The wolf looked up towards the enormous form of Mosi as the canid-like creature stepped up beside her, and the two were standing side by side. the size difference was quite... humbling, considering the similarities in body shape, but Kin-Kin had met larger creatures before. She showed no signs of being afraid or even awed as she followed their gaze once more. "I... I thought so." Kin-Kin could do that; she was the magical champion, after all. She'd been gifted at inspiring awe for a long, long time. "Of course. I shouldn't have a problem with that... I've always been good at turning heads..."

This was beginning to seem easier than Kin-Kin could have hoped. The wolf wouldn't have to resurrect any of this city's former inhabitants, just find new ones, which was good. How hard could it be to influence other creatures to devote their lives to her?

...Well, no-one had just yet. So she didn't really know. Not even in a familial sense...

There was that odd feeling again. The feeling of needing something to return to. The wolf sighed slightly, momentarily losing track of the world around her. Only moments later however, the grin was returning to her face.

"Looks like I'll need to make a miracle or two happen. Not that that's a biggie, of course," she joked.

Part of him wanted to snort in derision and part of him wanted to growl in annoyance at her words so he simply settled on that smirk. She was intent on denying fate and the happenings of things but he knew better. No matter... No matter, she would learn. It was what he told himself. Desptie the blessings that had been bestowed upon her she was still mortal and still young so she was still prone to believing in folly. It was a thing that time would wear out of her and temper that ego.

"Good... Do not ever let your fine burn out. Cultivate what makes you unique and strong and let your light burn brighter than anyone else's." Not that he was worried about that. Kin-Kin seemed to have enough ego for the entire caves and he doubted anyone would be able to trump her enthusiasm.

Her words were confident still as he spoke of fixing the city and gathering followers. He grinned, pleased that she would be keen on undertaking this grand endeavor. "Good. Your talent will prove excellent in swaying the mortals over to our cause." He had no doubt in her, only faith. It was then that he decided to take his leave, he had things to do and people to hopefully see. Just as she would be attempting to work her magic so would he too.

"Miracles should be no trouble. You have the gods on your side." A chuckle was in his voice as he turned and began to take his leave. "I must go. Just as you must search for followers so must I. I will be back here in two days time." How would he know two days had passed? Just a feeling within him, if not two days then it would be whenever he felt the urge to return... either way, they would meet again.

Cultivate what makes her unique? Easy peasy! That was what she'd been doing her entire life! Don't let her fire burn out? Hah! It never has, and it never will! "Hah! no need to tell me twice- I already gotcha covered." Kin-Kin told them, baring her fangs in a broad grin.

"No kidding! by the time I'm done, there won't be a single gem who hasn't heard our names! -Or, mine at least... heh, I kid, I kid... sorta." Tail swishing, Kin-Kin herself began to move on, picking up the pace into a brisk trot ahead of Mosi. They spoke of seeing her again soon- in two days. That didn't give her long! but she didn't betray as much, instead let out a laugh. "Seeya then, kiddo!"

Bursting ahead of them, Kin-Kin bounded down the path in full view. but as she ran, soon faded away into nothingless as the light shrouding her pelt gave way to shadows enclosing her. And then she was gone, her voice echoing through Orion. Where she'd appear next was- apparrently- up to fate to decide.
