Majesty knew without a doubt that he was a special creature. From the moment consciousness entered his brain, he was well aware of the fact that he was going to go places in his life. Others would adore him, and all those who did not were not worth his time. Of course, none of this was thought of consciously. He wasn’t so vain that he would ever think any of these things willingly, was he? Perhaps he was, but he didn’t know it. All he knew was that it was time to come out – out of his amber chrysalis and into the rest of the world.
But would he make it without a struggle? Of course he would! He was a king, after all! Even if he didn’t know it yet… He looked around himself with eyes like the eyes of a God, marveling at his own creation – even though he had created nothing. He believed the world and everything in it was his, and his alone. His to protect. His to love, and everyone in it would love him in return. Little did he know that these thoughts couldn’t be farther from the truth. The world was not his – not even close. But he didn’t know that. At least, not yet…
And so, for now, he did not suffer heartbreak. He remained oblivious to the fact that he could get hurt just as easily as anyone else. With wide amber-orange eyes, he stared around himself, in awe of this world that was his. And he loved it. He loved all of it. And he would continue to love all of it, as long as no one destroyed these thoughts in his head. These thoughts that said, “Go and be a king!”
It was time. HIs birth was finally here and Zorrak would take it. He was ready. The small body that was curled up safe and warm inside a beautiful sunstone gem that was embedded into the side of a large pillar began to squirm within it's restraints. Small clawed paws moved, scratching at the insides of the gem. One paw in a similar color to the sunstone that entrapped his body scratched and sent a strange screeching sound as gemstone grinding against gemstone. The high pitched sound seemed to pierce the stone chamber and almost instantly cracks began to spiderweb out from the initial disturbance.
At a second loud noise the sunstone gem shattered. Sending pieces flying in all directions and allowing the small ball of fur to go tumbling down to the ground. With a thud the red panda cub struck the ground only to end up rolling away from where he had landed. A breath escaped the bearcat as he scrambled up to his paws. His little legs trembling as fire colored eyes quickly looked around. A long tail swished around behind him, almost curious to it's own freedom from the restricting stone he had been slumbering within. For a moment he was annoyed. He was having such wonderful dreams in his warm chamber. Alas, this new place that his eyes wandered about was rather intriguing. The large pillars towered over his little body and he could just barely see where parts of his chrysalis was still embedded into the stone. Well, at least some pieces were left to remain stuck to it's side. The other pieces of shards had scattered in all directions and he could just barely see a few of them close to himself.
With a hum of thought the little red panda wiggled his rump before attempting to walk. One foot placed in front of the other and repeat. A devilish grin spread across his features as he so easily strutted across the floor. This was easy! He had gotten a hang of that so easily and it boasted his confidence that is for sure. So he set out to explore. Fearlessly he carried on his way to see what this new home had to offer him. The sound of his gem embedded claws clacking against the floor was really all he could hear. That is until he saw a form not too far from him. His fiery eyes narrowed in suspicion, but he was unafraid. No matter how much bigger this thing seemed to be compared to him. "Who you!" He nearly hissed out, fluffing his unappealing dull brown fur up in an attempt to make himself look bigger.
Majesty heard the sounds of shattering rock behind him, and he spun around, wondering what on Earth had just made that noise! He knew instantly that it was his duty to go check it out, to make sure no one was hurt or anything. But how to do so…? He hadn’t quite learned to walk yet, after all. He stood on shaky legs and attempted to take his first step… He put one paw in front of the other – and face-planted into the floor of the tunnel – but somehow managed to stay on his feet. He shook it off, determined to keep going!
At least it was easy to see. Majesty had luckily been born after the lights in the Origin Cave had come back on, so he didn’t need to squint in the darkness like some of his predecessors. Still, his eyes were not exactly used to looking around yet, so he took his sweet time as he padded in the direction of the sound he had heard. This place was gorgeous, and offered much to explore. The string of lights above him put a smile on his face. He wasn’t quite sure why, but he was drawn to the light…
He began to see glimmering shards of some sort of pretty stone on the floor of the cave, and made sure to stop and study each one, bending down to sniff at them all. He made the mistake of stepping on one once, and, though it didn’t cut into his paw-pad too badly, it still stung. He let out a tiny yelp, and was more careful after that. After the initial shattering noise, there didn’t seem to be any sound in the cave… Majesty listened, staying still, but heard nothing at all, except maybe the sound of distant moaning wind…
And then – ”Who you!”
He let out another yelp, this one much louder, and whipped his head around to find the source of the loud noise. There! Some sort of small… brown-ish Not-Wolf. For Majesty knew instinctively that he was a Wolf, and this creature was most definitely not a wolf! Still, it had spoken to him, if a bit bluntly, and he wasn’t one to reject a possible friendship – especially not of the first Gembound he had ever met in his young life. “I… I am…” At first, he wasn’t sure what to say, not knowing his own name, and then an inner voice came forth and gave it to him. “I am Majesty!” he nearly shouted, happy to have found his name – a name that defined him most definitely, for he thought of himself as a little king, even if he didn’t think it consciously…
The canine had shouted his name and Zorrak found himself scrunching up his nose at the loud sound. What a loud annoying creature. Zorrak sniffed indignantly as he flicked his long tail about. However...with his size he would prove useful to Zorrak for the time being. There was no way, with his current size, that he would be able to do much if something every tried to come and gobble him up. Quickly his mind churned around thoughts and soon enough a dark grin curled over the little cubs features.
He scurried over to the brown furry animal and without a second thought, dragged himself right up to the creatures back, curling his tail about to keep it out of the way. "Well, Majesty" Zorrak spoke humorously as he situated himself on the canine's shoulders. "Headed somewhere? Let's explore," Zorrak squared his shoulders as his fiery eyes looked around much more. This creature would be able to get to places quicker considering his legs were much bugger than Zorrak's at the moment. He patted his paw against the wolf's head, only just now realizing the gem that was making up part of the top of his paws and the small claws that extended from it. How lovely. He studied the thing before turning his attention back to Majesty. "Zorrak. My name," He finally introduced himself the words still feeling a little foreign on his tongue. Regardless, it mattered not and he knew eventually he would be fluent in speaking such things.
Majesty watched with a curious tilt of his head as the creature stared at him with an expression he couldn’t quite read. When the small Not-Wolf grinned at him a moment later, he felt a little confused. Beforehand, the brown thing had been looking at him like he was contemplating murder. Now he was smiling? Majesty could feel himself becoming a little bit suspicious of… whoever this was. He made a very small noise of surprise when the creature came over and crawled onto his back. He decided he needed to have better reaction time. If other Gembound could just come up and crawl all over him like that, then he’d be in trouble!
He narrowed his eyes as the creature crawled around, attempting to get comfortable. Then the thing spoke to him, drawling out his name – Majesty – as if it were an insult! Finally he caught the creature’s own name: Zorrak – who had decided that it was perfectly alright to order others around willy nilly like he owned the place! Of course, Majesty was similar to that thinking, but he didn’t try to crawl on other Gembound and tell them where to go! He didn’t move a muscle, instead taking a moment to think…
No! No, he wasn't going to put up with this little shit! He was a King-in-the-Making! Of course, he wasn’t one to flaunt power, and generally, he planned on being nice to others. But he couldn’t help feeling a bit of righteous indignation when this Not-Wolf creature decided to just take advantage of him like that! He would not stand for it! With a low growl, he began to buck violently, and shake himself like he was drenched and trying to dry off. And if that didn’t work, he’d just have to roll over and squash the darn jerk!
Annoyance quickly enveloped the little red panda cub. That stupid canine began to buck around and kick! Zorrak would be damned to be thrown off such a silly creature. So he dug his claws in, gripping at the canine's fur. He hadn't been able to grasp on entirely when the dog's maddened jumping around began making his bounce around. Zorrak sucked in a breath when he began to slip off of the jumping canine, but he did manage to keep a hold on until Majesty decided to calm his attitude.
"Hey!" He shouted loudly at the canine, showing his rather sharp teeth. His pawed claws seemed to grip even tighter. If this canine didn't stop soon Zorrak knew he would be flung off the beast. Hopefully he would tire himself out before then. "It will benefit us both! Stupid dog. Stop!" He hissed and growled, trying to coax the thing to stop moving so much. If he would just stop with his stupid wild jumping and bucking. Zorrak's fur ruffled up as his long tail attempted to curl around anything it could get a hold of.
At this point, Majesty was absolutely pissed. Being called a “stupid dog” certainly wasn’t helping Zorrak’s chances of friendship – or whatever he wanted from the wolf! But Majesty couldn’t keep shaking and bucking like this. He was getting tired very quickly. With a frustrated bark, he quickly laid down and rolled over onto his back. He wasn’t trying to kill the red panda, though, so he just as quickly rolled off of him, and successfully dislodged the creature. Success! Before the little thing could get anymore ideas, Majesty quickly scrambled away from him, growling incessantly. What was this guy’s deal?
“Hey!” he shouted angrily. “You don’t just crawl on other furry-friends like that!” Majesty didn’t yet know the term Gembound, so he had to substitute it with something. Furry-friend seemed… decent enough. “Have to ask first! No more crawling on Majesty! I not put up with that! Meanie!” Done with his little rant, he sat down with an indignant huff. Then his concern for others overrode his anger. “You okay?” Still, he didn’t come any closer, no longer trusting the red boy. He refused to let the boy ever crawl on him again! He’d lost those privileges, that was for sure!
Zorrak nearly yelped when the dog suddenly rolled. He bumped against the ground only to cry out when there was a sudden sharp pain in his tail that had landed wrong beneath the rolling mongrel. How inconsiderate! All he was trying to do was make their journey faster. Yet this pup had to go and get all huffy puffy over someone being on his back. Were all canine's like this? Zorrak quickly scurried away the same time Majesty had and quickly sat with his back to the dog as he now grasped up his tail and pulled it close to his chest.
Stiffling a whimper, Zorrak refused to show the pain he felt in his tail. It could still move, which he was lucky for, but it was definitely very painful to do so. His ears twitched before swivling backwards as he heard the canine start barking about and calling him the meanie. It's not like Zorrak went and bit his ear, or scratched at his eyes! A quiet sniff escaped the red panda cub, but when he heard the canine suddenly change his tone and ask if he was okay he nearly bristled up. Did he look alright! His poor tail was sending shocked of pain all the way up from where it had been bent incorrectly due to being rolled over.
"I Fine...." It was all he could to do keep a snarky tone from his voice. He'd be damned if he let that canine know he had hurt Zorrak. He timidly pushed his nose against his tail, wondering just how much it really was hurt. It only served to shoot more pain down through his tail and up to the bottom of his spine. His first day being awake and out of his Chrysalis and this is what he gets? Canine's were trouble. He would have to keep that in mind.
Majesty knew he had hurt the creature’s feelings – or at least hurt his body. He could see the way the red panda was holding his tail, and how he jolted when his nose touched it. He sighed, ears flattening against his head. King-in-the-Making or no, he’d be a terrible leader if he just up and left when things went sour. He’d have to apologize to the boy. And maybe offer his friendship, even if the panda was a little full of himself. That didn’t mean it would actually work out. Zorrak could just as easily shun his attempts at friendship, but at least Majesty’s conscience would be clean. It wouldn’t do to have enemies so quickly after birth.
“Hey, look… um…” He stood, walking around the panda in a wide arc until he was in front of him. “I sorry about hurting your tail. Maybe we can still explore? Still have fun? If you wanted to ride on me, could have just asked first. I not have problem with it. Just, you didn’t ask. Wanna ride now? I take you wherever you wanna go. Not have to, though.” He gave a small smile, hoping things would work out. He would feel really bad if Zorrak didn’t forgive him (even though he still thought it was the panda’s fault, and not his).
He even wagged his tail a little, trying to show he wasn’t angry anymore. But now it was up to Zorrak. He couldn’t do anymore than he just had. The ball was in the panda’s court now…
Zorrak grumbled under his breath before letting out a sigh. This was sure taking an interesting turn so early after being released from his Chrysalis. When the dog began to speak again the little red panda cub decided he would turn around and face Majesty again. Fiery eyes watched the brute as he first gave an apology for hurting his tail. That in itself made Zorrak sniff indignantly. He had tried to keep that from the pup, but it didn't seem to go unnoticed to the bigger canine. Oh well, didn't matter now.
So. This wouldn't have happened had he just asked for a ride? He would have to keep that in mind next time he tried to get a ride from something bigger than he. "Well. I'm sorry for not asking then," He sniffed a little at that. Not sure if he liked the idea of apologizing, but it seemed necessary for the time being. He eyed Majesty suspiciously when he offered another back ride. Not quite sure he wanted to risk it in case this dog decided to do another round of flipping over.
Maybe this would work out in the end. He wasn't quite sure what Maj's wagging tail meant, but it seemed better than being growled at. "Okay. Still explore then?" He really did want to explore, but he also didn't want to be hurt again. He would definitely have to learn how to not make things angry. But honestly, it was just a back. What was so offensive of him sitting on someone's back?
