ORIGIN - Fears

Thomas exited Eridanus with new knowledge and expertise on vegetation and magic. He was now striving to gain more magical fire abilities, and he knew that he was dedicated to becoming a master. He felt relieved with the new found confidence that burned within him. The young elk was thrilled with who he was becoming, and he wasn't even two cycles old. He knew that with time, he would become one of the best magic users the cave had ever seen. Or so, he hoped.

Thomas was beginning to feel hungry, so he slowed his pace until he came to a complete stop. I might as well eat while I am still near Eridanus and all the plants he thought. He turned towards the nearest wall and walked towards it. Vines and leafy plants hung about the area, and he was excited to try them. The calf lowered his head into a cluster of ferns. He chomped quite loudly on them. Thomas realized that this was his first real meal; yes he had eaten before, but never had he taken the time to completely fill his stomach. The young elk stood in silence as he ate the ferns and vines. He was enjoying the quiet, but he was looking forward to his next friendly encounter.

OoC: Sorry I'm just now getting this post up. I had it finished and ready to reply before my computer suddenly died and killed my post :C

Paws moved slowly through the dark tunnel; silently carrying the hybrid leopard back towards her home. It had only been a few days since she left Eridanus in search of her mother, but it had now been time to return home and check on things there.

Things had been quiet for a long while, but finally, things were starting to pick back up. A heavy sigh escaped the feline as she dropped her head down lower as her thoughts traveled back to Quintis. It was shocking to learn she had a cousin and no one had bothered to tell her. Albeit, he wasn't bred from Leon and Makyna, but all the same. He was family and that's all that mattered to this big cat.

Her thoughts were jostled away as the sound of hooves clacking across stone and moss soon caught her attention. Almost instantly her body jolted to a stop and she lifted her head up quickly. Rounded ears twisted into attention as she felt a sudden pattering in her chest. She instantly reached for her magicka, calling upon it as she tried to clear her thoughts.

She knew it wasn't him. Knew he was no longer around thanks to her aunt, but it never ceased the rush of fear she instantly had upon hearing the hooves moving over stone. Her horns surged only briefly with a bright flash of light before it settled down. A subtle heartbeat barely touched her senses and cure turned her gaze towards what would be the entrance of Eridanus if she was actually able to see. Even though she was a feline made to move through the night it still seemed to be a bit too dark for her.

It was a gentle rhythm and soon Cure tentatively moved further along. When finally she came closer to the sound of loud munching a quiet sigh escaped the feline. She shook herself before a slow, warm smile eased itself over her features; not that anyone would be able to see it in this darkness. It was young. "Hello," she called out gently; hopefully she would not startle the thing.

Thomas took a bite of some odd plant that left a bitter taste in his mouth. He was tempted to spit it out, but he didn't want to make a mess among the other plants. So instead he swallowed the bitter fern and twitched his nose in slight annoyance. Perhaps I should learn the different plants so I stop eating the gross ones he thought. Thomas moved over a couple of meters and bit down on another plant. This particular one tasted fine, and so he continued his loud chomping.

He almost ran off when a sudden hello came from behind him. Thomas shot his head up from the plants and quickly spun his neck backwards so he could see behind him. He was startled to see a leopard standing behind him. The young elk turned his body slowly to match the position of his head. He blinked slowly at the leopard and tilted his head in curiosity. "Hello," he replied. Thomas observed the leopard as much as he could before dipping his head in greeting. The creature gave off a kind vibe, so the young elk was only slightly on edge. You don't always know what some gembounds want.

"I'm Thomas," he said softly. He didn't know what the intentions of the leopard were, but he felt safe enough to share his name. Thomas' nose twitched as he took a step closer to he was a bit further from the wall and plants. He had no reasoning behind the movement, other than the idea that he could potentially crush the green under his heavy hooves.

Cure wasn't sure if he would ever be used to the way others were startled by their sudden appearance. He didn't quite enjoy scaring them, but he was certainly happy to try and start a conversation. Yet...it seemed with this one all she could feel was dread dropping like a heavy boulder in her gut. She smacked her jowls for a moment, hoping to wetten her now dry mouth as the young elk introduced himself. She knew he was only a child, but the memories of what his kind can do lingered heavily in her thoughts. Cure had to force her thoughts away as she pushed a smile onto her features. "I'm Cure. It's nice to meet you, Thomas. Have you been awake long?" curiosity rose on her voice as she blinked a few times, hoping to get her eyes adjusted to the darkness just enough to try and get his features figured out. It helped that she was a feline made to hunt in the dark, but even still it was not easy in this moment.

There was a wonder in Cure that was curious to know just how old this not so little child was. It simply amazed her how big or how small some creatures could be when they first emerged into the caves. She was fairly small when she was born so it always awed her to see others being so big even when they were so young.

Thomas observed the large cat as much as the darkness would allow him too. He thought about trying his new found spell out and lighting the air for a few moments. He decided against it, though, because he didn't know what the side affects would be. The young elk had only tried the spell once before, and it only lasted a few seconds. He wasn't even sure if he had mastered it enough to have complete control. Yes, he knew the magic, and yes, he had done it controlled before. But there was always that chance.

"It's nice to meet you too, Cure," he said. Thomas took a few steps closer to the cat in order to close up the space between them. He straightened one front leg and bent the other. He then dipped his head and frontal area in a bow-like greeting. The elk straightened back up with a soft look on his face. Bowing in greeting was a common thing from Thomas. He saw it as respectable and kind.

"I emerged less than a cycle ago, in Orion."

Thomas watched the large cat that stood before him. He was content with talking with her, but he was suddenly reminded of his travels. "The cave where water is warm," he blurted out. "I must travel onwards to the great cave where water bowls in order to gain the knowledge I crave to hold." The elk turned to walk away from the cat before looking over his shoulder. He smiled at her and dipped his head in thanks.

"It was nice meeting you, Cure. I hope we can see each other again sometime." And with those final words, Thomas continued on his way towards the cave known as Fornax. It wouldn't be long before he arrived.
