Equinox was beginning to fear that Polaris was covered in her slime. Of course though, in this darkness, it was exceptionally hard to tell. As it was, the great being travelled with her head held quite low to the ground, scanning the environment ahead of her with no shortage of uncertainty. Equinox was cursed anyway with poor eyesight thanks to the placement of both her gem and her eye, and this darkness did nothing to help her cause. Eye gleaming from the darkness, anyone gazing at her head on might see a soft red glow, glistening out from an orb of crimson in the dark. From anywhere else, that brightness would lie unseen, as did the pitch-black figure, hulking in the darkness, that the eye belonged to.
Her great, hooked claws scraped against stone and soft drips echoed as her slime poured off her body to form a great, stinking trail like that of a giant slug. slowly, but surely, Equinox followed the distant glimmer that was the crystal river, almost invisible to her in the dark. Soft gurgles were birthed in her chest as she drew closer to it, until she was finally close enough to sink her head down and inhale gigantic gulps of water, her throat swelling with every gulp.
In that moment, her awareness of everything around her was gone. There was nothing she could see, hear or comprehend other than the cold water that gushed down her throat.
@Kyorai
Equinox kept on drinking until she felt something bump against her nose. lifting her head back, she saw a small chunk of growing crystal in the water, seemingly washed from somewhere upstream. curiosity tugged at her. what was that doing here? she'd never seen a glowing crystal uprooted from the ground before, and in this darkness, it could be very useful. Jaws parted, Equinox stopped it with the fingers on one of her great, winged forelegs, before dropping her head and carefully taking the object into her beak. The draconian creature tried in vain to raise the object up for a closer look, but alas, her wings were too large and clumsy to allow for that. The great being dropped it again down into the water, where it began to lightly skip away over the silty river bottom.
Equinox's head stretched out after it. the being took the object carefully into her beak, even though the object completely obscured her sense of sight. With great thuds and soft squelches, the dragon backed away from the water's edge, aiming to place it somewhere where it couldn't fall again.
However, Equinox was brought back from the brink of blissful ignorance by a voice that caused her to raise her head in shock and turn her long, slimy head towards its source. Nervously, Equinox lowered her head towards the ground and placed the glowing crystal at her paws so that she was able to look up. In the darkness she could just barely make out a shape, a small shape.
"Hello," she echoed, a gurgle forming in her throat. She nudged the crystal towards them, whoever it was, hoping that it would serve as a peace offering, or display that she didn't mean them any harm despite her formidable appearance.
@Kyorai - Sorry about the slowness recently. I've been struggling slightly for muse on Nox mainly because of all the things going on IRL. DX
Watching what she could of the stranger in the darkness, Equinox was straining to see not only through the pitch-black strings connecting her jaws but anything other than the crystal she'd placed on the ground. It was odd how exposure to so much light could make you feel so blind... In the end, Equinox's jaws closed. it was useless trying to find her way using sight anyway...
The great draconian being was soon greeted by the sound of their voice; their words causing a tremor to run through her skin like a stone dropped in a clear pool of water.
"O-oh!" she murmured.
"I didn't know that it belonged to you. I'm sssssorry it's all covered in sssslime now..." There were clear nerves in her voice- she'd meant the object as a sort of peace offering, but if they already owned it then surely it must be ruined compared to how it'd been before. suddenly all those worries came storming back. Equinox had been trying to build up her confidence as of late thanks to Baratheon's teachings, but thus far it wasn't really working. It was hard to be confident when you left a fuse wherever you went.
"I... I..." just about everyone Equinox had met had questioned her on her slime, but none had ever asked her if it was a
problem. In a way, it was... of course it was.
"Well... I'm not wounded, but I'd try not to touch it," she warned them, serpentine tail flicking droplets off into the darkness. Already there was a pool of the stuff forming on the ground beneath her. As she opened her jaws just a crack, she found them already poking a paw at some of it. another tremor passed over her skin, and she tensed up, a scaly texture forming, which soon became a series of writhing tendrils, as though grass was sprouting all over her... except it was formed from her flesh.
"The river's there. Let's try and make it go away, okay?" Equinox was beginning to panic, her eye glowing bright in her throat.
@Kyorai
Equinox nodded slightly, confused by the brightness they showed, even after she'd just tinted one of their possessions with her filth. "Yesss. I produce it whenever I move, wherever I go." Equinox looked out at them with some difficulty, the white haze that the crystal had left in her eye gradually fading. Yet more concern filled her chest as they mentioned that the slime was the reason they'd lost their crystal in the first place. Peering at them closer, it was only now that Equinox realized that some parts of the puppy's fur was matted together, presumably by fault of her own. A rumble grew in her throat and all those nerves continued to mount. Equinox wanted to help, wanted to tell them that everything would be fine, but they needed to know that they couldn't touch the slime.
Hearing the fear in their voice, Equinox knew she had to try and make them feel better. "I-It'ssss okay! D-don't worry. I-It'ssss not dangeroussss by itssself," the slime dragon stuttered in a failed effort to be calm, and help them be calm too. "Just don't ssssssset it on fire.." Equinox thought back to the firefighting adventure she'd had alongside Ghanyarah, and suddenly had an idea. Hopefully water would be enough. "I have a better idea."
The dragon was glad they didn't object to getting a bath. Rather than lifting them with a slimy and potentially clumsy paw, Equinox dropped her head into the river and inhaled, her elastic throat inflating as it filled with more and more water. She gulped, and gulped, and gulped... And then when she could hold no more water, Equinox raised her head. Her throat and cheeks were too full to speak, so without warning she simply opened her mouth and let all that water pour, hopefully providing them with a slightly smelly, yet cleansing shower.
