Electric Storm, Electric Storm, Electric Storm, Don't Cry Baby |

Dark caverns snaked their way along the underground like a coil of knotted snakes. The tunnels had a cool darkness to them. However, some of the caverns were faintly lit by a scattering of bioluminescent mushrooms tucked into tiny patchwork crevices. Barely revealed by the tiny speaking of lights stood a large stone of pale yellowish green hiding in a bend of one of the smaller tunnels. The air was still in an almost peaceful silence. Even the occasional reverberating footsteps of wondering beasts were largely absent at this moment. The moment was short lived, however. Shadows were cast along the opposite wall as the prehnite chrysalis took a small shake. A gash appeared along the edge, cracking like a spark of lightening along the stone. Shards of the gemstone clambered, echoing in the distant tunnels, as a large hole was formed. And from out of that jeweled egg came … Nothing. The echos continued for a while before settling down into relative peace once more. The egg stood motionless as though ignoring the fact that it had just ruptured. And indeed, that is precisely what had happened. Pale green eyes matching the prehnite stone blinked out from the opening. Yet nothing else moved. For the chrysalis, the name entered her mind from either a strange instinct or memories passed on from others of the caverns, was a safe place. No trouble ever entered its confines. This new place … such things could not be guaranteed. Inside it was dark and warm from the trapped body heat. The tunnels were lit, causing pupils to swell, and the air rushing past had a faint chill to it. No, it was not a place to explore when a perfectly suitable home was available. And so nothing happened. Time continued on despite the stubbornness of the new creature. One’s defiance mattered not in the grand scheme of things. Peace once again returned. Only to be interrupted once again. Gurggle. A sharp yow followed the strange sound. It was new! And it gave a sense of dread. And that was how the new being discovered that one cannot simply stay put in their chrysalis forever. ”Hungry,” the word appeared in the beast’s mind. That sound meant that food was needed. Food the gemstone could no longer provide. Food that existed, had to exist, outside in the tunnels. It was a scary proposition but it was discovered that change must occur. With a tiny deep breath, a cream colored paw stretched out of the egg, tapping the ground before jerking back, and settled itself along the stony floor. Soon after followed the tentative orangey form of a rather small bobcat. She crouched down, looking around the tunnel trying to decide what to do next.
