Nestled among the pile of bones lay a chick with his head resting in its feathers. Blackberry was resting - the fight against Kera had taken place some time ago and she had gone somewhere isolated to heal. The Room of Bones had been both intriguing and comforting, as she had found no one. Now this place, this whole room, in fact, was hers, and she wanted to keep it that way.
Thankfully, there had been no reason to defend her territory - nobody had come to her or disturbed her healing. Nobody had dared set foot anywhere close to her. While this was good for the sake of her resting, Blackberry missed the fight. She missed interacting with other gembounds and the satisfaction that came with knowing she was destroying them, physically and emotionally. She had healed enough and she was ready for more.
First, however, she needed to eat. Her growling stomach woke her from her nap. She raised her head from under her wing and blinked blearily. Despite the darkness in the room, she could still see a little bit. She gave her neck a good stretch and her wings a few flaps to chase away the rest of the sleep before waddling over to the nearby pool where she had found fish on her arrival. She jumped in, shivering a little bit at the chill in the water, but quickly getting used to it. It wasn't easy catching fish in the dark, but she had to try her best. She took a long breath before diving down, her beak open. After a moment, she felt a bump and instantly snapped her mouth shut. She returned to the surface, her prize trapped in her teeth. The fish was small, smaller then she had wanted, but it would do. She gobble it down, barely tasting the flavor, but satisfied at the crunch of the bones and the food falling down her throat.
Once her meal was finished, she settled down on top of the water and let her feet still as she enjoyed the relaxation the water brought. But still, there was something itching in the back of her head. An urge, an instinct that she so dearly desired. Something exciting, something to get her blood rushing and racing. She wanted to feel her heartbeat in her ears or see a gembound's spirit break. She needed something exciting.
"Speech looks like this."
Thoughts look like this.
