Majesty sat smack-dab in the center of his new territory. He was now, officially, a king. And that made him happy. So happy, in fact, that he felt a howl bubble up inside of him, and he just had to let it out! He stood up, tilted his head back, and let the beautiful sound ring and echo throughout the tunnel – his home. But this howl meant much more than just a happy sound. He was also calling for others to come and join him. He had one official member: Farrah – also known as Pretty. And for now that was good enough. But anyone else who wanted to join could come too.

When the chocolate wolf found himself out of breath from the long howl, he stopped and sat down again, waiting. Maybe others would show up! But if it was just Farrah and himself for a little while, that was okay too. He just hoped he’d know what to say once everyone arrived…

ooc: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Warm, gentle silence, like milky honey, surrounding a tiny life inside its egg of ruby red glass. So soft, so sweet, so pure. Almost ready. Almost finished. Soon.

Noise beyond the glass. Sharp, splintering sounds, like cold wind against the warmth of the shell's protective skin. A long sound, unfamiliar and strange. Frightening. Rumbling thunder, shaking the world apart. Chaos. Terror.

Tik, tik tiktiktitktikkkkttktktkt

A small, perfectly ovular red gemstone falls free of the ceiling and lands with a sharp, sudden clatter on the cave floor near the canine pair. It rolls, then slows to a stop even closer to them. It moves, and shakes, glowing bright beneath its shell. Inside, its occupant struggles.

It was time to be free. The sudden sucking of life from her chest as she'd fallen, unknowingly, to the ground had woken the chick inside its egg of gemstone. Landing didn't shatter it, so light, she'd bounce along until rolling to a stop a few feet from her initial drop point. The little life then struggled against the confines of her glassy prison. It wasn't safe anymore. Each movement sent her rocking or spinning in another direction, though not very far. Finally, with a press of her whole body outwards, the chick broke free and popped out of the shattered egg, damp and disoriented as she floundered about where she'd hatched, just trying to get her head up.

Peep! Peep peep! Peep!

She couldn't form words yet, but her shrill chirping was more than enough to explain her plight- cold, like she'd never been, and confused by the press of invisible weight against her head and legs. She couldn't stand! What was standing? Oh, and over she tumbled again, onto her back with flailing feet and tiny, nubby wings. Oh, bother, indeed!

Not long after Majesty’s first real howl ever, he heard the echoing sound of a return-howl. At first, he didn’t recognize the sender, and figured maybe it was a new recruit – someone he hadn’t yet met. But then the sweet song filtered through his mind some more and he realized it was Pretty (Farrah)! He gave a bit of a chuckle. She wasn’t really built for howling like wolves were, but of course, he would never tell her that. She could do as she pleased. He watched with a twinge of happy nervousness as she rounded a bend in the tunnel and came into view.

She asked him what he was up to, using her affectionate term for him – Charming – and he opened his mouth to answer—

Something slammed down onto the ground between them suddenly! Well, slammed wasn’t quite the right word. It more bounced. But it still frightened Majesty so much that his new talent – his ability to wash himself in Darkness – happened of its own volition. As he let out a yelp of surprise, great tendrils and waves of Darkness spread over his body like a shadowy suit. It left him in a few seconds, as his fear calmed down, and he turned to watch the red egg roll around all willy-nilly.

Majesty smiled at Pretty, glad to be witnessing another birth, and took a few steps toward the wiggling chrysalis. Soon enough, a damp chick popped out of the shattered egg and began to protest loudly with peeping sounds. It rolled around some more, and couldn’t seem to find its feet, as tiny as they were. The chocolate wolf bent down and attempted to nudge the creature a little, to help it up.

After some time spent with the little chick, whom he realized he adored, he decided to let it live with Farrah and himself in their new pack. Sure, it wasn't a canine, but that didn't matter at all. After everything had been settled and Majesty had explained the rules and how THE Pack would run, he decided to go on patrol in his new territory. What better way to show he was a leader than by instantly doing something leader-ish?
