Small clicks echoed through Orion as Gabriel wove through the streets, its gaze darting as a new goal formed in their mind. Gabriel had never seen magic akin to the spells that the strange bird-kings had displayed, and they knew then that they wanted to study it. What made the magic of the Ancient Gembounds so drastically different to modern Gembounds? What made the Ancients so drastically different to the Gembounds emerging into the caves in the current day?

Such knowledge would likely be highly beneficial to its search for the Ultimate Gembound; a creature which they felt could protect the caves should they begin to sway towards their inevitable doom. There was danger in the caves, yes; there always had been. But the more Ancients re-emerged, the greater the chance that one would have power beyond all others, and a less than agreeable nature.

Of course, chances were still very slim, but with all it had seen in its wanderings, the dog felt with newly-awakened certainty that such things were more likely than it had at first thought.

Gabriel felt like- no, it knew- the answer was out there somewhere waiting for it to find, but they also knew it might take a long time to find. Perhaps it would take an entire lifetime. So, Gabriel had decided that in their first step, they would align themselves with Mintaka, who they felt was by far the most agreeable of the bird-kings. That meant looking for pale blue or white stones.

The hairless dog's eyes flickered and glanced, searching the crumbled streets.

Alas, their goal remained elusive for now, and Gabriel kept moving.
Gabriel moved quickly, covering as much ground as they could in their search. They wove primarily through back-alleys and small cracks where they didn't think others would fit or have noticed, thereby increasing the chances that a stone had been left unturned. Of course, Orion was a big place and in all likelihood there was a lot left to find, but even still, Gabriel thought it would be best to make use of their small size.

Soon, as they passed through a crumbled room, Gabriel caught a telltale flash of pale blue in the corner of their eye. They turned and noticed and saw the corner of a quartz gem peeking out of the debris. Gabriel's eyes gleamed. The dog padded over and used their wispy, white-furred paws to dig it out of the dirt before taking the stone in their soft jaws. it was almost too big for them to caarry with their small size, and they knew they wouldn't be able to carry any more, so they turned and began to head back towards the Three Kings they'd left behind.
