HELLO let me preface this by saying this was okayed and arranged with CJ! These are random gems with animals given by CJ + a Mysterious Alien Creature. The idea is to have Giggle revive three gems from her bone pile, and then I can offer them out for adoption! If I've made any mistakes or done anything wrong please let me know. Details like whether they're herbivorous or not, stone location, etc can be decided by the adopter; I'll put forms or w/e for applications up if this is approved!

Parent: Giggle
Giving: Life x3
Health: Like 85%, she's healthy but a bit malnourished/lack of sleep. Doing better though!
Element: Fungus
Stone: Fire Agate
Had any previous litters: No
Randomize Litter?: No
Link to Conception Thread: Here

___________

Child Name: Up to adopter
Gender: Up to adopter
Species: Hyena x Red Hartebeest
Appearance: This creature looks much like a red hartebeest, with hyena-like markings and sharp teeth. Its hind legs are hooved, front clawed. In size it will stand at about four feet at the shoulder, and weigh around two hundred and eighty pounds. It will be a remarkably swift animal.
Element: Fungus
Stone: Green Aventurine

Child Name: Up to adopter
Gender: Up to adopter
Species: Hyena x Jerboa
Appearance: Barely the size of a small dog--18 inches at the shoulder, weighing only a couple of pounds--this animal is likewise colored much like a hyena, though with bare pink legs and nose and the coat-grizzling of a jerboa. With large night-sight-capable eyes and oversized ears, its senses are likely quite good despite its ridiculous appearance.
Element: Fungus
Stone: Red Garnet

Child Name: Up to adopter
Gender: Up to adopter
Species: Hyena x ???
Appearance: This creature is larger than the others, about the height of a small human (five feet or so) tall, but very oddly lightweight. This is due to hollow bones. The animal is delicate, with stretches of skin that allow it to glide, large night-sight-capable eyes, and bioluminescent markings along its hide. Large 'whiskers' of sensitive (capable of feeling pain) whiskers and the like suggest its other parent was some sort of creature adapted to gliding, or swimming in thick air perhaps, and its adaptations suggest it fed on flying insects or the like. Its various webbed limbs and ridged rudder-like tail will allow it some maneuverability in the air, and a strong ability to climb.
Element: Fungus
Stone: Blue Labradorite

(Note: this fella had a second design; I couldn't decide which to use. If GMs are okay with it and the adopter wants, it could use the other as a winter "coat" or some such?)
re: alienyena
why not both? make them a bioluminescent fungi alien spawn oh it's already biolum okrip
(this was the selling point for sylvari for me in gw2)
Can do! If that's what the adopter ends up wanting that's cool by me :D
@Giggle are these accepted yet? Cuz I got my eye on the alienyena @u@
They are not accepted yet, to my knowledge, no GM has posted the form. I'm gonna post an adoption application form once they are :)
((oh.. my bad i did forget))

This conception was Successful! The litter will emerge March 4th.

Giggle will not be able to conceive again until May 4th.
Thank you xD I didn't realize it was forgotten. I am a patient person!

SO, application! If you want a baby, please fill out app! FEEL FREE to apply for more than one, but I'll likely dole out 1 per player. I will NOT make choices until there's a few applications in, preferably for each! I would prefer they be active, but other than that, a lot is up to your own discretion. Feel free to leave name, stone location etc blank, if you want/haven't decided yet :) I will make decisions based on how active a player is and how many chars they already have (you have a better shot if you're active and don't have fifty active chars already--since the point of this all is to generate more roleplay!), and FAR moreso, how their character concept inspires me and strikes my fancy :)

Without further ado!

Which hybrid is being applied for? Hartbeestyena
Name: Serek
Stone location: Left shoulder
Gender: genderless, male pronouns
Description of personality: To all others, Serek is a proud and vain beast. He regards others as lower then him and will never take responsibility for his actions. Nothing is ever his fault and even his own wrongdoings or mistakes would be shouldered off to someone nearby, even if they had little to do with it. This makes it hard for him to make a lot of friends, since that exterior wall is so steadfast and thick that it's hard to break through. However, on the inside, Serek is scared. He feels as if he as something to prove, either to himself or the world he does not know. He needs others to accept him, to give him praise, because he feels as if he were a mistake or something undeserving of others. If he's excluded from anything, or sees someone with something he doesn't have, he'll become extremely jealous. This could also dip into his short temper, which is sometimes so fierce that he puts himself in danger. However, he'll never fight. He's a coward and his flee instinct is much more powerful then his fight. Of course, he'll always come up with an excuse later.

Serek stepped through the bones, feeling them splinter and crunch under his weight. It was kind of fun to break them, smashing them to bits. It was oddly satisfying in a way that he didn't quite understand. He knew that Giggle wouldn't like it - she close to worshiped the bones. Why did he ever listen to that raving lunatic? He would have been better off never having been hatched near her. He felt a pit of anger boiling in his stomach as he thought of his parent. The casting and the mumbling and that stupid raven. They were always talking like they knew everything. But they didn't! They didn't understand anything about him. He didn't need them. He'd show them that he was better then they thought. In his sudden burst of anger, he swiped forward, sending a bunch of bones clattering. It felt so good to finally release his emotions, so he did it again. And again. And again, until he was almost leaping through the bones and tossing them to and fro, relishing in the sound as they cracked and clattered.

"What are you doing?"

He froze and whipped around. Not far away, a dark-coated wolf covered in bone trinkets and gems stood, staring at him with shock and disgust. He immediately straightened himself up, as if he had done nothing wrong. He couldn't look like a child in front of this creature. He gave them a hard stare, trying to push back that anxiety that was pushing at his throat. "It's none of your business."

"It's very much my business, with you making such a racket over here," the wolf snarled. "You know other gembounds live here, right?"

He knew they were right, but he could never admit it in front of them. He couldn't back down and be weak. He'd done that enough in the early time of his life. He took a good look at the wolf and sniffed with contempt. They thought they were cool, huh? Carrying bones on strings, looking fierce and cool with those gems. Well, he wasn't impressed. He frowned at the wolf and shook his head, looking away disdainfully. "Well, it's not my fault your ears are sensitive. If you're bothered, go somewhere else." He huffed, but glanced and eye to see how they reacted. To his dismay, they were rolling their eyes.

"There's gembounds living here that don't appreciate you and by messing with the bones, you disrespect those that have fallen. Get out of here right now. If you don't..." They paused and pushed a paw forward. A jolt of terror went through Serek's body. They were reinforced with unnaturally big claws. Perhaps they were sharpened bone or the teeth of a giant. Either way, they were huge, sharp, and obviously deadly.

"I'll make you," they finished with a growl.

Serek was in a panic. But he couldn't show fear. Not now. He had made his choice and he had to see it through. But he couldn't fight this creature. He would never win. They would tear him to pieces. So what could he do but run? No, he wasn't going to run. He was going to leave. That's right, show this beast that they weren't going to get to him. He turned back towards then and did his best to ignore the claws. He snorted loudly, trying to hide his fear.

"Whatever," he snarled. "Keep your bonepile. It means nothing to me. I was on my way out anyways." He then turned and stalked off proudly, but still wary that the wolf would follow him. Thankfully, they simply watched him leave with a burning gaze. He didn't relax until he had rounded the bend into the tunnel leading away. He staggered in fear, breathing hard and heavy. Images of the wolf's huge claws flashed in his head. He hoped he would never have to face those again.

I'm a coward, he thought bitterly. But at least I'm alive.

Which hybrid is being applied for? Hyena x Jerboa
Name: Skeena
Stone location:
Gender: Female
Description of personality: Skeena is most definitely an interesting animal. For the most part, she is very sweet. She can act nurturing, and sweet, and kind. Skeena is the animal that others turn to for a shoulder to cry on or advice. But, what they don't know, is that she has a much darker side to her. She always has a dark voice whispering in the back of her mind, telling her to harm others, to take advantage of their weakness. However, no matter how much she fights it, there are times when the dark side takes control. During these times, she becomes nearly feral. She'll attack even those she loves dearly, and holds no qualms on eating even more sentient Gembounds. Even when in control, the dark side may make itself known, causing her to cackle and laugh despite it being a bad time.

Skeena hummed to herself as she walked through the tunnels, dirt crunching under her naked paws. She loved to look at the gems and crysalises on the tunnel walls, imagining what may be in the cryaslises. Maybe a wolf, a fox, a monkey? Or even a hybrid like her? Oooh, that would be neat! She'd love that! Her long, tufted tail twitched, scuffing along the dirt, and throwing up soil, dirtying the tan fur.

"Skeena!"

The Hyena Jerboa hybrid turned, seeing a fox whimpering as she approached. Why, it was Arlene! She bared sharp fangs in an attempt at a grin, twitching her tail in an attempt at friendliness.

The fox sat down before Skeena, whimpering as she placed her head on her shoulder. The hybrid sighed, wrapping a bare foreleg around her neck in an attempt at comfort. However, even as the fox began to ramble on about her troubles, her eyes were far away.

She salivated, large brown eyes focusing on the fox's throat. It was so close... 'It's right there! So close! Your fangs would cut through it so easily; it would only be a moment! Go on, take a bite!'

Skeena scowled, closing her eyes to avoid temptation and gritted her teeth, fighting down the urge to bite, and rip, and tear.

Which hybrid is being applied for? alienyena
Name: Charity
Stone location: Base of tail
Gender: Male
Description of personality:
Perhaps as a by-product of their alien heritage, Charity is not one being but a family sharing one body. The hybrid possesses more than one soul, all inhabiting the same vessel. There are four, in fact; Charity himself being the obvious one, seeing as they are the one in control of their shared body. Then there is Patience, Diligence and Verity, who each have their own thoughts, views and moral standpoint. As with any family, these four sometimes have their disagreements but for the most part, they get along relatively well. Only charity can hear the conversations of their siblings (unless a mind-reading spell is used), although he may choose to vocalize them for others to hear, as well.

Charity, obviously, is in control of the hybrid’s body; he is impulsive and reckless, but also loyal and naiive to a fault. He may sometimes ignore the siblings sharing his internal space, but he never acts outside of what they believe is right. He will not stand for injustice and may end up picking fights with ‘bad guys’ way out of his league. It is likely that in his early days, Charity will require a lot of guidance from the others. Perhaps the differing opinions will be stressful to the young one in times of indecision, but as they grow older, the hybrid will perhaps learn to function as a council rather than an individual mind, and find a compromise that works for everyone.

Patience acts as a parental figure or older sibling to Charity and the others, as well as being the first to awake upon hatching. Of all the siblings, it is Patience who is the most often respected and their words carry greater weight. They are the most neutral, reasoning that there are no accidents, even if it would seem to be so at first. They view others’ personalities in shades of grey; no-one is truly good, or truly evil. Patience never judges another creature by their first impressions, and plans are thought through over the course of many hours. Patience yearns for the opportunity to try real-world gardening, but Charity is simply too impatient to properly allow it.

Diligence is the polar opposite to patience, and the two often clash. Like Charity, they believe in action, no matter the consequences. They are the most chaotic of Charity’s siblings, encouraging Charity to plunge headlong into situations with virtually no thought, and sometimes reveling in the consequences. Diligence can be mischievous, always encouraging Charity towards a final endgoal, regardless of what that may be. Food, fun, magic practice, Charity has to be up and doing something at all times; this sibling can’t stand slackers or relaxation. Diligence cannot simply sit by and do nothing. They’d make a good coach, though.

Verity is the most anxious and uptight of the four souls in Charity. Nervous, jumpy, and distrustful, this soul must know things inside out. They’re an adept detector of lies but with a natural distrust of pretty much anyone, false alarms are quite common. Verity makes it extremely hard to keep secrets; even if Charity tries, this sibling will make a huge fuss about it, and it’s often hard to block out their insistent nagging. Even if the endgoal is to make someone safer or more comfortable, Verity insists that nothing is more valuable than truth and struggles to accept that sometimes, information is kept for the better, even if the consequences are greater than if Charity had just told a white lie. They are extremely observant, seeking the cracks in any situation to find the truth behind something. In the outside world, Verity would make a great detective or journalist.

Even though the four have differing ideals and views, as a family the four function and work through problems together. Although they may fight, the four work through their problems and continue to help and guide one another. It’s not like they can storm off to their own rooms, after all. At least none of them will ever be lonely.

Darkness, warmth, and growing pains were all they knew; none of them had ever seen the world outside, but all of them knew that it was out there. Something was, anyway. But they couldn't leave yet, because were waiting for someone. Someone that they couldn't live without.

"Patience, I'm tired of waiting," one of the beings insisted, for what felt like the hundredth time. "What are we waiting for, anyway? We need to get out-"

Patience's consciousness shifted, a feeling of exasperation washing over everyone who was able to listen. "Diligence. Even if impatience was the answer, none of us have control of this body. We have no other choice," Patience reasoned with their sibling, who had no choice but to sigh and agree. All could feel the cold, stony walls closing in, the aches and pains of consciousness rapidly resulting in numerous arguments between the three beings enclosed within one chrysalis. Of the three, one was desperate to get out, to be rid of this claustrophobia for good. The other was desperate to learn the full truth about the outside world, the wait making them antsy with anxiety. Just what was it that awaited the three?

"I wonder what they'll be like. The one to take control," Verity's presence distracted Patience from their thoughts. As much as the others liked to fantasize, Patience thought it would be best if they just wait and see. It was unfair to harbor expectations of your family before they were even born, especially the one with the most to lose. But patience couldn't help but wonder too.

"Don't worry. If they ever awaken, it'll have to be soon."

Patience endured the growing pains with little complaint, seemingly content to wait out their days for the one who could bring them to freedom. Diligence had insisted, time and time again, that it was time to take matters into their own hands- but it was a pointless thought, because none of them had hands. But Verity, the last, and quietest of the four, worried; just who was their last sibling? Would they be just, and kind? Would they use their shared body well, and take the siblings' guidance into account? Or would the other three fade into the background as meaningless voices, crushed beneath the weight of the one chosen to lead?

Then, all three siblings felt it; the twitch of a paw, brushing against the inside of their chrysalis.

A feeling of grogginess swept over them. Three consciousnesses perked to attention all at once, all words and feelings deserted. The time had come; As one, they would awaken. It was time to finally see the world. The grogginess lingered for a while longer, soon to be replaced by a confusion, sweeping over them. It was the first they knew of their new sibling; a brother, as it was.

"Welcome to your body, young one," Patience greeted, their consciousness brushing against that of the newcomer.

"Do you have a name?" Verity asked, examining the newcomer's every emotion for some hint as to the life they would lead.

Silence. Confusion. Then a voice.

"N-no...?"

It seemed that he hadn't quite found himself yet.

"Hate to be the voice of reason, but we have to get out," Diligence cut in. "I can't stand this place much longer."

"Let him do it in his own time, Diligence. It'll come."

Diligence's presence fizzled with impatience and reluctance.

The newcomer's eyes struggled to open, but they were sealed. They, too, felt the walls enclosing from all angles, but unlike their siblings, they had the chance to do something about it. they started to panic, flexing their strange form in the dark. They all felt the fear that was brewing as they tried to breathe, but couldn't. Was this it? A whole family lost to the caves, with one wrong breath.

"Be calm," Patience said, realizing then that this mind was not like theirs. This mind belonged to the body of a living. It was young, and would need time to develop and grow. The others would have to guide that process on its way. "Let's count to three, okay? On three, you wriggle with all your strength. Can you do that?"

"Yes," his consciousness said, as the body nodded its head minutely.

"Alright, on three. One..."

"Two!"

"Three!"

Their body thrashed. Their tiny world crumbled around them, and a new one opened up. Their body slumped onto the ground, gulping at fresh, clean air. After so many long years of dormacy, they were free.
