She could see tiny tendrils of moss creeping over the boot, trying to reclaim it. Oh no you don't, she thought, ripping and tearing at the plant. Her mouth was full of the nasty taste, but she couldn't give up now! She spat out of a clump of moss as Arkrael asked after her progress.
"Almost go' it," she said, ripping off a final piece.
"There!" Triumphantly, she yanked the boot out of it's resting place, dangling it proudly. She let it drop to the ground once more and gave Arkrael a muddy grin, giggling at the large metal boot Arkrael was wearing. She stuck her own hoof into the boot she had freed, but, as she had a hoof instead of a paw or foot to fit inside the boot, it was impossible for her to walk while wearing it.
With a shrug, she picked it up in her teeth and lifted her head high, staggering slightly under the boot's weight.
"Um'on!" she mumbled through the boots.
"'Et's geh back to the Beast!" She pranced back down the tunnel, making for the last place she had seen the shadowy creature. She'd make a quick stop somewhere along the line, though, to wash the last of the stinky moss off of it.
