Asimona stared, wide-eyed, as the hyena scattered the bones. She did not step up the join her at the side of the bit, but stayed a little ways away. She did not want to get close. There was a buzzing at the back of her mind that held her back, an uncertainty, a fear. She trembled as Giggle's words washed over her, her brain trying to discern what this could mean for her. Would her life be so hard? Why would her life be hard? What had she done to deserve a grim fate like this?

There was so much to take in that she barely knew how to respond and just stared at the hyena with awe. For whatever reason, she had no doubts. That was her future, in words she could barely understand.

But she did doubt the voices being a gift, despite her best efforts to believe Giggle. They had brought her nothing but trouble and fear. How was it a gift to be stalked by an invisible dragon, to hear screams in the air that no one else heard? Would she see other things in the future and become as raving mad as the bonecaster?

She shook her head to clear her thoughts, although she was still troubled. She looked up at Giggle. "Th-thank you. But a gift? How is hearing and seeing things that aren't real a gift? It's done nothing but make things harder." She looked down, her claws scraping absentmindedly at the stone and bones under her feet. "Perhaps...the bones are wrong."

"Find the one who'll guide you."
To the limits of your choice.

Giggle gave a sharp noise--a sound somewhere between a bark and a cackle--as she loped and leapt neatly down from her ledge.

"Wrong! No. The bones are never wrong. Never never, never ever." She trotted right up to Asimona this time, peering at her with dark eyes. This close, the rank odor of her pelt was probably noticeable; the rangy boniness of her ribs through her dry and bristly fur.

For a time she examined the dragon, staring, peering. She noted Asimona's apparent reluctance, her worry. She didn't understand it.

The dragon was clearly being given a gift, and had just been told she would triumph. That she would win, and be reborn.

"An easy life is no challenge! No story. Nothing to tell others. Boring, weak. It teaches you nothing. But to be faced with challenges, and overcome! Ahh, hahaha, that is success! That is a story. A good story! But tell me, white-thing, thing-with-horns..."

She padded even closer, staring intently up into Asimona's face. Her voice dropped to a near-murmur, quiet with hidden secrets, with clever and cunning knowledge.

"The things you see... Why do you think they are not real?"
