ow!! ow ow ow why did she keep doing that!!!

haruo tried to flick her off his tail just by wagging it, but to no avail; she was simply too heavy and too firmly latched onto him, even when he whipped around and tried to nudge her off with his mouth. he simply could not swing his tail far enough to reach.

he considered for a moment just sitting down, but the small amount of rationale left in him worried he'd actually crush her and kill her. with the lack of a better option, he continued bleating in pain, running and leaping around the ring wildly in hopes she would lose her grip eventually.

Round: 4/5
Attempt: shake gypsy off his tail
Defense: wiggling & jumping around quite a bit
Injuries: head and tail sting badly, a few tail hairs close to being pulled off

Gypsy kept pulling at the deer's tail with all her might, gripping the hairs as tightly as she could with a talon. The fawn was trying his hardest to shake her off and all she could do was hang on as tightly as she could. He was moving too wildly for her to try anything else except keep pulling. She only hoped she would not fall off.

But she was already dazed, and all of the fawn’s jumping about was making her exceptionally dizzy. Her world suddenly turned upside down as she lost her grip, and she was flung into the air before landing in a feathery heap on the ground.

“Owwww…” She could barely tell which way was up anymore. Everything was spinning.

it was a few hops before he realized; suddenly, the pain was gone. haruo was free! he whipped his neck around to look behind him, and found the little bird sitting on the ground. she had fallen! this was the perfect opportunity.

haruo bounded around to face her again, and ducked his head, ready to headbutt. he would have a hard time making contact with her, but he would do it. it would be cool!

he was so wound up in the fight that he had forgotten to be careful, and so went charging full-speed at the little bird on the ground... and then instead of doing a totally cool slide thing and bunting her across the ring, he just tripped on his own hooves and fell flat on his side instead. he bleated out in pain and made quick action to right himself and at least lay upright on his front end.

well, that didn't work. he wouldn't be making any other moves any time soon, either, but luckily it seemed his opponent wasn't making any quick moves to go at him again either. haruo whined a little bit as the pain set in.

”痛い　。。。" muttered the fawn to himself, gritting his teeth and whimpering. that was gonna hurt for a while... bad idea.

Yuma

Yuma continued to sit perched upon a high rock looking down at the two spectators playing around in the arena as he waited for the next fight to start. Even if there wasn't going to be any killing there might be some entertainment to be had. There might even be a horrible accident that could lead to him getting another gem for his collection.

His collection was already pretty big though, and just gathering them was losing its charm a bit. Did he really want to be the best janitor possible? What else was there to do here? Perhaps he could be a professional judge? Well he was already doing that and there was no one to judge. Maybe the contestants were being all 'nice' and waiting for the ring to clear.

"Hey, kids!" he called down. "Usually I wouldn't care if you were playing around in there but there's supposed to be a contest going on soon. Go find a spot by the river or something."

Boredom was still threatening to show its troublesome face as the aye aye settled back on the rock. Had that been mean to kick them out perhaps? Maybe he could try to soften the blow by sending out words of encouragement. "Oh, and don't worry about hurting each other, neither one of you are very good fighters. If that had been an actual competition the deer would have only won due to their size advantage and the bird's hopeless clumsiness."

There, now they didn't have to worry that they'd accidentally kill each other. Yuma was slowly getting the idea behind this 'get along with other people' concept.

“Awww maaaaannn.”

Gypsy felt bummed (and still utterly dazed) as the judge announced the winner as Haruo. She had lost after all, even when she had played to her strengths. What that mean gembound had said rushed back into the forefront of her mind - that she was too small, too weak and no good. She felt quite dispirited. Furthermore, she was aching all over and she only just barely managed to get back on her talons.

“G-Good fight,” she chirped to her opponent as she looked up at the deer blearily with unfocused eyes. Wait, had there always been TWO of them? She shook her head. Her vision was blurring badly. This couldn’t be good. She had to find some place to lie down and rest.

The crowd was way too loud for her aching head to handle. Groaning, she stumbled out of the wrestling ring slowly. Resting and healing was top priority for the little bird right now. She didn't think she could do anything else in this condition.

haruo did not get up as a voice rang out to (presumably) address him, and though it was speaking way too fast for him to understand anything, he could understand his own name when it was announced. judging by the tone and the way his opponent shrunk down sadly, he assumed he had won.

"ge-good fight--o," he repeated to the words gypsy had said, although his were considerably more lacking in the 'd' sound and he seemed unsure about even saying them. surely it was some kind of compliment or well-wishing? he wanted to tell her she had done a good job, and to keep on trying and not give up, but he didn't know how to say any of that, so instead he just looked at her with a sort of sad expression.

as she hopped out to leave, haruo finally pushed himself off the ground with a bit of a whimper. the crowd seemed to have raised in volume, maybe it was because of him?

"買った！買った買った買った買った買った～" the young buck sang, and tapped his forehooves along, though it looked a bit less energetic than usual, as he was still in some pain. "haruo winner!" that was what the word had meant, he was sure.

eventually, the crowd quieted down, and haruo left to join the audience and watch whatever was going to happen next.
