Blackberry turned when Blueberry approached and quickly snatched the vines from his jaw. Beautiful? Death was beautiful? Perhaps. She could see how the moose thought it was beautiful. The red of blood was a lovely color, the thrill of death was soothing to the soul. But death to her was ingrained in her. Now that she had made her first kill, she hungered for more. More death, more pain. And now she knew that she could rely on Blueberry. Certainly.
She fixed the teardrop gem and the tail feather, still wet with blood, to the vine Blueberry had given her. She slipped in around her neck so that it hung above the strange claws in her stomach. It was pretty, a lovely blue color, just like her own gem, but lighter. It held his magic, his soul. A perfect trophy.
She looked up at Blueberry, her eyes shining. "Yes, it is beautiful. You see now, you see what I see." But then her eyes hardened as the memory of the pain flashed through her. "But no, you do not. Death is beautiful, but it is also fear. Pain. Anger. The wolf killed me but I did not die. I was cheated out of the sweet release. And they...everyone...will pay for that. They will feel my pain." The gurgling sound came again from her throat, the frayed, disgusting remains of her hiss. "Will you help me? Help me enact my vengeance on the caves? Fight alongside me and bring the beauty of pain and blood and death?"
