It was time. Bast didn't know what that meant. Only that she was consumed with an overbearing sense of finality. The blue egg that had housed her so long was cracking, she felt cold air against her too warm skin. Straining, breaking, grasping. Life, that's what it was time for, no more loneliness in this hollow space, she could leave now.
With it's charge now pushing to free itself as well, the delicate shell was no match, and soon the tell-tale sounds of glass shattering and flying in all directions could be heard. In the middle lay a young pup, confused, unsure, and curious as dark orbs opened to take in the world around them curiously.
Slowly the young pup climbed to her feet. Was there no one here? Was she just born from nothing? It seemed strange but, she was hardly in a position to question it. She still felt sleepy, half there, and it was taking all she had to stay on top of her tiny limbs. Yet compared to most she looked strong, well developed, her time in the egg, however short, was well spent.
Padding over to a nearby stream she leaned down and started lapping at the water, she could use some food to but....what? She didn't see anything or anyone and it felt....empty and lonely, beyond words. She stared out into the openness and let out a bark, but all she could here was the sound of her own voice.
Alone.
