Electric Storm, Electric Storm, Electric Storm, Don't Cry Baby |

Cold … dreary … damp…. Despite it’s large size Cetus was not the first choice of a living arrangement for many of the creatures in Origin caverns. The constant mist, the murky waterways, the trenches and jagged rocks posed many dangers and discomforts for many. There were some stray rats that passed through, some gangly fish and annoying frogs, sometimes even a strange creature much like earth’s crayfish that could make for a decent treat. But for the most part Cetus was largely barren as a terribly miserable location. And that was exactly like Selena had picked it for her home many cycles ago. Resting along the side of one of the jagged rocks that had fallen over, the stocky feline lazily glazed around her. In front of her a wisp of silvery grey sparkling in the light had formed a new mirror image of herself. Unlike the bobcat, though, the smoky illusion was playing in a circle much like a kitten would. At one point it rolled onto it’s back and pawed at the sky. The tiniest will squeak came from it as it righted itself up to play again. Green eyes watched silently for a while. How long had she been doing this? How long had she sat away from others? 10 cycles? …. No, that wasn’t right …. 12, 13 cycles now? Most of her life Selena had avoided contact with others. From the moment she was first hatched from her chrysalis she had felt a fear of the outside world. With it, she plunged herself into a self-created isolation. She had no trust for those about her. Even now, full grown with claws and fangs at her disposal she was concerned about the potential of being a target. But at some point during the last few cycles, a strange feeling began to nag at her. Bobcats were solitary creatures by nature. They did not rely on others to have fulfillment except for mating and gembounds lacked that particular need. Many creatures shared that same instinct. In her occasional travels, Selena had witnessed some of the other creatures of the caverns from the shadows. There were some like her, who’s nature should have dictated that they remain solitary beasts, who seemed to nearly search other companionship for some reason. This behavior seemed very strange to her. Why would this be? Speech Thoughts Tags: Notes: |
