He was met with only silence at his question. The shadows he had cast over himself dispersed, billowing out across the floor and revealing his form once again. Mercurius's head swam, focus waning. He couldn't bear to be there, to listen, any longer. He felt sick conjuring a darkness he knew was corruptive, knew was contagious. Eyes like a long-forgotten moonset cast themselves to the beast's (hah, the irony of that statement) paws and he sighed heavily. "I'll wait." Pasting a smile on his face---because there was no alternative---he continued, "I've been waiting. I'll keep waiting."
His claws, unwilling and overgrown, slithered from their sheaths and clutched at the earth, raking against stone. "Bartos, if you can hear me---please... if you want to..." The words hurt because he didn't want to promise to go somewhere. Not to this particular somewhere. Where it all happened, where it all went to shit. "Meet me at the peak of stars. Our old home. In a cycle." Fleeting as he came, Mercurius left, hoping that the man he had come to see as a father had heard.
If he didn't, he hoped that this strange darkness would pass along the message.
