Chrysalises were all different.
One might be long and jagged, crystals growing out of the ground. Another might be shaped like a cocoon, clinging to the wall. Others might dangle from the ceiling, threatening to drop their contents upon hatching.
But this one, one wouldn't blame for mistaking it for a large egg. It was about as big as a house cat, and was oval in shape. It sat on the ground, on its side. It was an odd white color, made of Beryllonite, with a rough texture.
Like a hatching egg, it began to jerk. Something inside was trying to get out, that was obvious. There was a loud scraping sound, and the side began to crack. Finally, a piece broke off of the side, not nearly large enough for the creature inside to break free. Through it, one could make out a scaly, green-grey hide.
The being inside began to shift, and the hide move. Suddenly, the view of the hide would be replaced by a large, golden eye, with a feral glint and a slit pupil.
