When the kyanite chrysalis split apart and broke with a resounding CRACK, Aster had not been aware of it. She had been in a peaceful slumber, eyes shut and curled in the comfortable, warm darkness of her chrysalis, and she only came to notice that this changed when she hit the ground and felt ice cold air on her back.
Her chrysalis had been situated right at the base of the Tower, nesting comfortably in a crook between the wall and the staircase. Aster had fallen out and found herself right at the bottom of the stairs, staring upwards. And staring some more.
For a long time, the puppy did not move. Velvet-black fur was wet and clinging to her skin, her ears quietly pinned to her skull and her blue eyes staring up at the tower. She remained curled up into herself, as she had been in her chrysalis, and only stared in silence.
There were no real thoughts; no emotions linked with the events that just transpired and no real worry about what to do next. Instead, she watched and her eyes drank every detail of the inside of the tower before the borzoi slowly pushed herself up on stilted legs, shakily exiting the tower to stare outside.
