Fisher blinked as the pup ran off towards Cancer now that he had caught her something to eat. Ears laying back, he trot on after her, approaching the black cat. As he looked at the feline now, properly looked at him, he felt a shiver down his spine. This gembound was covered in metal, protective, strong stuff. He had bags and all sorts of things-- and the way he stood, so tall, so sure of himself. Fisher wasn't sure...

And with his spiteful, harsh yellow eyes boring into the brown noodle, he called him a Rodent. A Rat. A prey thing. Fisher's pride was hit but he-- for some reason... Fisher's tail twitched as he stared at Cancer, his defensiveness over the small gembound making him feel a strange, twisting knot in his gut. He had enemies, sure, creatures who wanted to hurt him... But no one had ever tried to push him away before, marked someone as Theirs and Not For Him. Was it loneliness that dug at his heart, as he watched the kit (although she did not seem to like Cancer much) practically return to the black feline's side?

He thought he should say something, but what did you say to someone who acted like that? What did you do? "Wh-... You're welcome?" His whole posture seemed to droop, his tail brushing the earth and his ears flat against his skull. He was not a Rodent. He wasn't! Why would anyone say that about him?!

"I was just trying to help, she's too young to control her magic yet-- those things would have killed her." And! And!! "I even got her food, alright? Don't be such a... Such a jerk!" And with that, Fisher felt like he had to run away. He felt a horrible misery that made his eyes sting and his throat swell, hard to swallow. The gembound just wanted to run away and disappear forever-- and he showed it in the timid pawsteps backwards that he made.

And, with one bat of his eyes and a dampness flickering on his eyelids, the brown noodle was streaking off and away in a bolt of dark fur. Away, away, away. He didn't want anyone to see him like this.

;; fisher exit :3 if that's alright~

The world spun around her. Large, angry chittering on both ends. Quix was tired, and belly full with this mouse. Fisher didn't answer her about the mouse...probably all wrong. Cancer instead, replied her. "Ohh!" she quipped, though rather unimpressed. Quix was just...tired. She finished her mouse and licked her paws, then started to fall asleep on the cold floor just as Fisher exited. She was too young and tired, and tucking her tail by her side, she fell asleep.

OOC: Sry for the short post c: Cancer can pick her up and put her in the satchel.

Cancer was honestly surprised to see the timid reaction of the brown creature. Normally other 'bounds jumped at the chance to battle wits with him, to show him up and talk smack right back at him, but this little thing didn't. It spat at him, whining almost like a child scolded, disappointed and hurt. He spat a weak insult and ran away, and Cancer watched in baffled amazement- the cat-weasel thing had charged at him first! Those eyes turned to the golems and he sighed. He'd messed up another person's mood. Go figure.

Still, the child wasn't going anywhere. He glanced down at her, and with another sigh, scooped the child up between his jaws and with soft, hushed whispers of comfort, placed her gently in his bag's backmost pouch. She fit perfectly. He smiled despite himself, and set off again, ready to leave Polaris behind for a long, long time...
