Brother, understand why
See it's burning me to hold onto this
I know this is something that I gotta do
But that don't mean I want to

Sebastian loved Rift, really, he did.

But sometimes he needed time to himself.

But he knew his brother didn't like him leaving Eridanus. So he decided to try and find his own little place in the forest they called home. Of course, he would come back to his brother's glade every now and then, share his den. But having somewhere that was only his, that sounded amazing.

And, if he were to know anything about his own species, it would make sense. Male pumas were solitary - they never traveled with others. The fact that he had been able to stomach living with Rift beyond cubhood was a testament to their bond. But the urge to stake out, make his own territory, still scratched at his spine.

So he found himself walking, leaving the paths that he knew so well. To make sure he didn't lose his way, he rubbed against various tree trunks.

What I'm trying to say is that, I love you I just
I feel like this is coming to an end
And it's better for me to let it go now,
than hold on and hurt you
I've gotta let it burn

Brother, understand why
See it's burning me to hold onto this

Something drew him to the Trench.

He didn't spend much time there - it was off the beaten path. But now, something drew him. The area was heavily foliaged, but there was also an area that had been burnt bare some time ago that he could use to practice his Magick. Besides, the skeleton always fascinated him, and he would love to be able to look it over.

So he plodded over to the edge of the trench, and leaned over, looking for a way down.

Taking a deep breath, he stretched out one paw. It took him a moment to find a sturdy foot-hold, but before long he did. And then he found another, and another. Before long, he was making his way down the trench, balanced precariously.

Carefully, the panther picked his way down the trench. His eyes constantly scanned, and it was only due to that that he noticed the alcove. And then, carefully, he made his way over to it.

And, to him, it was perfect. The alcove was shielded by moss and vines, branches and roots weaving together to form a sort of roof. Oh, this was perfect!
