Bang Bang go the coffin nails
Like a breath, exhaled, then gone forever
It seems like just yesterday

Life flickered in the Chrysalis.

The wolf inside opened his eyes. They gleamed, revealing the intelligence of a Greater. He took a deep breath, only for his barrel to scrape against the sides of his Chrysalis.

He needed out.

The pup stretched out his legs, pressing against the rough walls of his Chrysalis. But they refused to give, and so he stopped to regather his strength.

How did I miss the red flags rise?
Brought to his knees he cried
But on his feet he died
Kamala didn't have the full use of his eyes yet, but his hearing was clear as it could ever be, and it heard the struggling. The young gorilla scraped his way across the ground toward the sound of the struggling, that unmistakable sense of pressure against the soon to be broken grabbed his attention. He settled on his haunches a few feet away from the chrysalis, and put another handful of the moss into his mouth, chomping away casually. He'd gathered up a hefty portion of the tasty stuff some time earlier in his wanderings and was now getting to the end of his supply.

He rocked back and forth eagerly as he listened to the struggling within the crystal confines. He was somewhat frustrated that he couldn't see the action with his eyes, but compared to the soundless emptiness of the area he'd just come from, this was the best show of his relatively short life so far.

While one hand fed himself another mouthful of the tender moss, his free hand scraped at the dirt and found a small rock. Without giving much thought to the action, he tossed the stone toward the chrysalis hoping to hear a smack of impact.

Stretching out his legs once more, the Chrysalis gave way under the wolf pup's surprising strength.

He dropped to the ground, easily twisting to land on his paws. The pup braced himself, and shook, splattering the chrysalis-wet from his fur. Once he was satisfied with his pelt's dryness, he yawned, and looked around.

A rather odd creature sat not too far away, seeming to eat something. It was a large thing, dark in color. He strode towards it confidently, calling out a polite, "Hello! May I ask where we are?"
